  • Thanks for posting this clip. For other clips, see the movie "Dedans le sud de la Louisiane." Ed plays on "Folksongs of the Louisiana Acadians" (Arhoolie CD 359). Ed & Bee also recorded two LPs for Swallow. This song, "Le veuve du lac blue," is from "Ed and Bee Deshotels chantent de la vie des cajuns," which has all traditional songs. Another LP, "Cajun Troubadors," has original songs in the same vein. Let's hope Swallow will reissue their recordings in their Cajun Pioneers Series!

  • The guy behind them playing the "'tit fer" (triangle) is Savy Augustin from Mamou, and the fellow playing the snare drum is Cursy "Pork Chop" Roy.

    Dowell

  • Veuve means "widow". In the song the singer's wife died at the same time is buddy's wife (Across Blue Lake), so he went to 'visit' and they had 'fun'.

  • Thanks! I really appreciate the info. ANY help I truly appreciate.

  • The buddy says: Ont vas se marier...

We will get married. Not just for "fun times"...

  • The name of the song is "la veuve de lac bleu", a very old song.

  • i think it`s not "la valse de lac bleu" but shure it is an waltz its called "le vague de lac bleu" the waves of Lake Blue. all the best Fabian
