God's Word is very specific. If you study it, and learn the scriptures meaning, you will find that they are very specific. We are not supposed to "Take from it what we want". We are supposed to study it and learn what God is saying, what He believes, what He is teaching. We are to practice what HE teaches, interpret the Word according to what HE is saying. We need to remove our own thoughts and feelings and our own desires and make sure we follow God's Word according to God's teaching.

Elvis was a mere man, & people that pray to him are praying to a dead man who was no different than they are. You might as well pray to a rock. Jesus is a living being, He is a spirit & that is the only way to know God, through the spirit. If a person doesn't have a morsel of faith or desire to know Him than they will not be able to understand God.

Jesus had to fulfill over 400 prophecies, prophesied hundreds of years before His birth. When people who have no relationship with Christ can't understand it, they conclude others are brainwashed. You can only come to the Father through "faith". The only condition God puts on me is that in order to be restored in right relationship with Him, I must accept the one who paid the price for me (Jesus Christ) so that I will not have to pay the debt. If I reject Him, then God cannot help me, because I have rejected His free gift of life.
