Kde ten člověk bral výdrž a sílu na to, aby hrál tak precizně? Slyšela jsem už mnoho verzí, ale jedině v téhle slyším poctivě zahraný a procítěný každý tón. Klaním se až k fuseklím.
Nobody, I mean, NOBODY comes near to Josef Suk in this piece. Since his Supraphon version was issued over 50 years ago it is a peerless interpretation. His Suk Fantasy from 1965 is, similarly, uniquely perfect.
Thanks for posting this heart-warming masterpiece.
The the way he resolves the low D up to the E flat @ 2:46-2:47 is goooooorgeous that is what we call phrasing boys and girls! I always thought Suk was such an elegant player.
Originally, A Joseph Suk was the son in law of Antonin Dvorak. that's where i know the name from. What an incredible violinist this Joseph Suk is, indeed! BRAVO!!!!!!!!
Actually, the Josef Suk who was the son-in-law of Dvorak was the grandfather of the violinist Josef Suk that you hear on this video. Suk Senior was himself a gifted composer (do listen to his Asrael Symphony, a deeply moving work inspired by the deaths of his wife and his father-in-law (Dvorak).
Sadly, Josef Suk (the violinist) passed away on July 6, 2011, aged 81.
This is just breathtakingly beautiful! What a variation in tone and character in his playing! From subdued to powerful intensity. He is one of my favourite interpreters of this concerto! Thank you so much for posting!
Dvorak Violin Concerto played by the composer's own great-grandson - what more do you need than one of your own flesh and blood, who just happens to be a top-notch violinist,to play your own work? Now,being his great-grandson - that'd have been a a more than distinguishing mark for me that carries with it the pride of just being related to the Czech people's admired musical genius. And to play his violin concerto...
Wow! I've heard the name 'Josef Suk' before, but never heard him play. I am very impressed with this performance. I really like his crisp playing, and especially his perfect intonation (especially high on the e-string where many performers tend to be a tad flat). I never really cared for the Dvorak concerto, but this guy makes it well worthwhile to listen to. Just excellent playing in all regards!
