because it is more accurate and more near to reality. It is not like Car driving games. In Simulators you need at least a joystick with a throttle. (sometimes even a Rudder axis as well that in many joysticks is given by twisting the stick). Get an extreem 3D Logiteck that is a good low cost joystick.

I had both joystics connected to the pc. The saitek throttle has to be connected to the saitek stick in order to function so you will have to store the stick under the table...

Hey, do you have your settings different for joystick sensitivity or something? like, damping i guess? i have alot of trouble aiming because my joystick is to sensitive, and i read somewhere online that you could change some variables or something, and it looked like

first train a lot on difficulty 'Easy' :)

The game is verry realistic, you can only become an Ace in this game by playing a lot:)

if you wanna go up fast without stalling, you certenly should have your flaps on combat mode.

then rapidly press the down arrow.

don't hold it down, always push and let go.

But euh... going up doesn't really garanty your suvival:p

going down and flying just above the ground makes a better get-away

is this game playable with a keyboard ? i mean , im very very very good at deflection shooting (im sorry , i may sound a bit presumptuous but im really not ) , but , when i press the down arrow , to make the plane rise (for example , in a dogfight) the plane turns so fast it stalls , or turns on one wing , and thats so frustrating , i must get at least 0.20 away from the fighter , to get a kill in one burst ! . plz need help . thanks in advance!

You need a joystick to play the game. Start with a low cost one (such as a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro without feedback) and then by training you will learn. Also, remember to impose arrows as trimmers. you will need them as this joystick uses centering spring that makes maneuvers difficult arround the null zone.

I run it on some half-decent settings (1280x800 resolution at least) on a single-core 1.73 ghz, geforce 7300 and 1gb ram.

What you want is IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946. You can get it really cheap these, days, at around 10 $, € or £.

You'll need a joystick, but I've got a low-end Logitech Attack 3 and I'm good :)

is just me, or the firepower of the Me 109, in the sturmovik series, is a little abusive. Was it like, as we all saw in the movie? Just a couple of shoots, and the aircraft just desitegrates is the air. I just don´t know now. I´ve seen and eared so much, that I don´t know what to listen, or belive, to.

thats because the 109 has 30mm cannons. That thing was known to rip apart bombers with one or two direct hits. You have to be a hell of a lot closer to fire cannons accurately though because they are heavy and descend fast.

Convergence. Guns are far more effective when they're focused on a single point on the target.

Large cannons help too. The 30mm in the nose of late-model 109's is a real killer.

I really suck with IL2 multiplayer, but I am really good in quick mission builder. When ever I try to kill someone I end up turning to them, shooting, hitting at least 3 bullets and then stalling to my demise. Any tips for a rookie?

Get a good joystick with very smooth transition over the null zone, and large movement radius. Best choice for the moment is Microsoft FF2 which unfortunately is out of production.

Generally with a better joustick you will see much of improovement. In IL2 the harware plays a major role. So don't be disappointed. it is not always our fault.

There are some great communities out there. Check out the official site, All Aircraft Arcade, Mission 4 Today, and some others (google 'em).

If you're into the pacific theatre, try out one of the F6F. I've been flying them online, and they handle OK. Also, the Zero (A6M) turns really well, so it will take a lot to bring him to a stall on a turn.

You'll get to know the planes you fly more. You'll learn to get a feel for when you're pushing on the stick too far. Good luck!

Il2 1946 contains the old sturmovik and all its evolutions and add-ons so it is definitely better. It also has many flightmodels corrected to match mor real standards..
