  • Gary Moore and Phil Lynott are jamming together once again. RIP to both of them.

  • post scriptum: Deep Purple drummer Paice is on the drumms, and if I remember well bruce (cream) on the bass.

  • @SoWirdGelogen You are correct. Jack Bruce played bass and sings on this song.

  • @pdhudson0311 No, he's not correct: Neil Murray on bass; Tommy Eyre on keyboard and Jack Bruce on additional vocals. Gary did the backing voc. They took turns at the verses and at the end of the song. If you listen exactly you can differentiate Jack and Gary.

  • What a powerfull song, jesus... Still amazing!!! I love his voice, I love the lyrics and I love his guitar playing - one of the best four, five guitar magicians of all time.

  • Gary Moore has gone Over The Hills and Faraway to heaven, to play for God now

  • This rules!!! Great solo, great song! Hearing this takes me right back to this show...pretty sure he opened with this.

  • This guy blows Yngwie and Hendrix away!!!!! Blues Classical he has it all!!!!

  • So fast at picking the strings, and Guitar Legend!!!! Amazing! I think he's a robot sent back trough time and space to teach Mankind Absolte guitar playing!!

  • i found this song today, its amazing how he is picking every one of those notes, and isnt the singer on this song from cream? (obviously not clapton, but like the bassist or drummer)

  • @demotracks1 Yes, the singer is Jack Bruce, the bassist for Cream.

  • @theawakener7 , your right about who will be remembered , i like schon , malmsteen , hell i even like buck dharma , greg howe, the list goes on-the lentil soup -hobbit shyt is hilarious -and somewhat true hehe

  • Best heavy guitar song ever!

  • i always thought that chuck berry, les paul and so on got a real lot of money from this stealer for stealin all their ideas..

    what a knobhead

  • i thought it was hearing yngwie at one point... gary is quite the versatile player, great! my hero!

  • One of my favorites from Gary Moore.

  • @theawakener7

McAlpine's good, but i never found his phrasing particularly interesting.

  • Young players that are "scale runners" should listen and learn from this piece. You have to feel it to get it. Nuff said...

  • as far as MacAlpine goes, he's amazing...he's also playing 7-string and keys on Steve Vai's "Live at the Astoria" - also featuring Dave Weiner on guitar and Billy Sheehan on bass!!

  • @theawakener7 truth

  • Vocal Jack Bruce!

  • !!MASTERPIECE OF HEAVY METAL!!

  • I haven't heard this since 83! It was a huge influence on my lead playing at the time

  • @theawakener7 hey i saw tony at a clinic at the RAMADA INN in nashville 20 years ago or so ---jeeeeezus that dude can freakin'' rip --i dont like alot of the actual music alot of these shredders produce but as far as skill im surprised he never got that much recognition

  • 2:32 like powerslave-iron maiden

  • @theawakener7

Tbh, I hate the who. And the beatles. I used to like them, but gradually went off them. And who the fuck is Tony MacAlpine? XD

  • @theawakener7

Meh. I've not heard Govan, but DUDE! The Hobbit is one of the best books ever written. I suggest you listen to some Blind Guardian. Power metal about Tolkien's books. Fucking insane, if you ask me. :D

But yeah, I agree. Joe Satriani = a true fucking guitar god.

  • @theawakener7

I do agree with you that there are a lot of guitarists who just fretwank and there's just no emotion, melody or rhythm left in their music, it's just loads of mashed up scales. DragonForce are THE worst band for that. I've not listened to one song by them and thought "Holy shit. This actually sounds very well-made".

So yeah. In my opinion, there are still a lot of good guitarists in the world today, whether it's blues, rock, or metal. =]

  • @theawakener7

As a guitarist/vocalist and metalhead - guitarists like Gary Moore, Eric Bell, Brian Robertson, Brian May, etc, have influenced me so much over the years to get into music. Ever since I was 5, I listened to incredible guitar riffs from Sabbath, Queen, Lizzy, etc, so I do realise the skill these guitarists have.

However, there are loads of guitarists who - though not as original in their sound/playing - are equally as incredible. In metal anyway.

  • @theawakener7

Yeah, he's a fucking incredible guitarist and I love old rock like this and Lizzy.

But come on, man! Even Gary shreds sweeps and arpeggios. Okay, I admit he can write insane music/lyrics, and use it like a fucking master (as can Yngwie), but so can guitarists like Robb Flynn, the almighty Dimebag (RIP), and Christopher Ammott.

  • sick song!!!

  • great

  • Ah, Herr Schenker. Another of my very favorites and another blend of virtuosity and expression. I always liked MS' melodicism, while Gary brought a fury and intensity like no other. Between the two, they have the three best tones (MS' V, Gary's Strat on Corridors and Victims, and Gary's Les Paul on so much of his catalogue). Speaking of kids, I teach guitar and many of my students are kids. Schenker and Moore are required listening for them by me. Great fun to watch their little minds boggle.

  • I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments about our Gary, he is the epitome of excellence. A mixture of blistering technique (Shapes of Things, End of the World), emotional expression (The Loner, Empty Rooms) and blues deluxe (Cold Hearted, Oh Pretty Woman). Also agree with your assessment of the shallowness of most young players. I would not, however, lower Squire Guthrie to bootlicker status. He is a superb player with much to say of his own.

  • you are right my friend gary is the best, last show of his i was at was at the ritz in nyc now its webster hall, great show. greatest! of the greats!fuckem

  • I loved this the first time i heard it! He could and still can rock. I would love to go see a tour if he played all his old stuff

  • Jacks voice Realy compliments this song, then again no suprise about that.

  • Kick ass guitar work! Reminds me of Eddie Van Halen and Alex Skolnick.

  • Yes, it's Jack Bruce on the verses and Gary on the chorus. They sound great together.

Some mind-blowing guitar from Gary. The solo in the middle of the song sounds like it was cranked loud as hell in the studio when he recorded it. Channeling Hendrix a bit maybe?

    Go Gary!!

  • That's Jack Bruce from Cream doing the lead vocal.

  • 82-83 when I herd it on the radio. KOME out of San Jose. Everyone thought the guitar was Eddie Van Halen. ,but the vocols sounded like Ozzy ? Anyone remember the same ?

  • Kinda, It was very competitive amongst the Axe slingers back in the day!

    That's clearly missing these days.

  • I heard it too back in 83 (K102 in Miami) and I actually still have the tape of when I recorded it on the radio. Remember when we used to tape songs... Anyways, I knew it was not EVH or Ozzy, but it was definitely on that level. However, I never again heard another song from Gary Moore nor did I every hear on the radio again, but this song has stayed in my collection of favorites since then. This song is timeless and it still speaks the truth...

  • @orlandosierra The truth for sure. The first time I heard it I called the radio station to find out who it was. I ran out and bought the ALBUM !

  • @MrkintheDrk Yeah buddy ! Remember it well ! Yeah some of the vocals sound like Ozzy ./ Awesome guitar work !

  • this song was popular in germany 30 yrs ago when i was in the army.

  • This sonk kicks butt

  • I ment song I love this dude

  • and??? It's a comment. You're acting like you just paid $100 for tickets to a broadway show. What do you want from me?

  • Comment removed
