The only reason you say that is because Shaun looked up to Kurt. The truth is Shaun has surpassed Kurt. I think Kurt would be proud to see how he influenced Shaun. Seether as a band is much better than what Nirvana could ever be. It is just the changing of times. When another band comes out as good as Seether, people are going to say that the new band is better. That's life. Nirvana did hardly any covers, except for the unplugged set, and when they did, they made it their own song and only did one song of a particular band. Whereas seether have copied (not covered) about half a dozen Nirvana songs. I think you're all missing the point of a cover. A cover is meant to be your own song, not copying the band you're singing the song of - that's called kareoke. And that's all this is, a good kareoke session just as good as any elvis impersonator down at a pub.

I saw Seether at KUFO Rockfest in St. Helens, Oregon on 7/29/06. They played this song. Geez he sounds so close to Kurt. The recording sounds a little messed up sometimes... like it slows down. Seether played this perfectly when I saw them.

Nirvana did hardly any covers, except for the unplugged set, and when they did, they made it their own song and only did one song of a particular band. Whereas seether have copied (not covered) about half a dozen Nirvana songs. I think you're all missing the point of a cover. A cover is meant to be your own song, not copying the band you're singing the song of - that's called kareoke. And that's all this is, a good kareoke session just as good as any elvis impersonator down at a pub.

I can understand why Nirvana fans hate people doing their covers; it's a cheap trick, but my hat's off to Seether; this guy's voice is pretty damn close to Kurt's.
That doesn't mean this guy is anything like Kurt, but he can do the voice pretty decently.

It's clear that Seether, and Shaun more-so are big fans (s) of Nirvana and Kurt Cobain. Can't you just respect that and shut your mouth? The same goes for everone else there who can't say anything good about other people's bands.

I continue, you've obviously never been to a Seether concert. Beside doing their own music I've heard them go over Nirvana, ACDC, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam and a few others I didn't even recognize. You can't just assume the only covers they ever did were of Nirvana just because those're the ones that appear on YouTube the most.

Yeah, this is coming from a guy who has repetedly proven that he knows nothing about either Nirvana or Seether. If you had ever actually been to a Seether concert you'd know that they only do about two or three covers a night, and it's rarely Nirvana.

Yeah, I'm a huge Nirvana fan and I love this cover.
But I don't think he sounds at all like Kurt. Shaun has that same sorta gravelly feel in his voice, but they sing with two completely differant elements.

they can write their own shit. they have 5 cds out including Fragile and all of their originals kick ass. they never made any money off of covering Nirvana songs, they do it to pay tribute to a band that influenced their music. Seether is much heavier than Nirvana's music

I saw Seether at KUFO Rockfest in St. Helens, Oregon on 7/29/06. They played this song. Geez he sounds so close to Kurt. The recording sounds a little messed up sometimes... like it slows down. Seether played this perfectly when I saw them.
