@Whistlejocket i think its fine they used sheets, but using sheet music lowers the dramatic abilities of the performers to an extent, which can have a bit of a negative effect on the expressiveness that they show. Simply a gorgeous piece though. The single most gorgeous that i have ever heard.

It's funny being introduced to Mezzo-Sopranos through Marilyn Horne and then coming to Elina Garanca. Their sounds are completely different but both are unique and rememberable. And just like Horne and Sutherland, Garanca and Netrebko's voices blend superbly.

This is the only time I have ever heard Netrebko sing so well. A lot of times she tries to sing bel canto and she fails miserably and other times her pronunciation is horrible. I think she has a good voice but she needs to find what is suitable for her voice and in this french opera she seems to be more comfortable.

I agree that some emtion is missing, but i think it is only a rehearsal (you can see some people from the orchestra in jeans). If in that moment it was beautiful, in the theater it must have been something extraordinary.
