  • is this the offical video to this song??

  • @TheHustlehustle09 No, it's a performance in Germany for the show ''musikladen''.

They were very popular in Europe.

  • No doubt the most beautiful women to ever come out of Philly...they were having a blast doing this song but the crowd looks like Nashville tourists at a bar down on Second Ave.

  • after all these years i still love this song !!

  • I guess they realized Disco was dead when this was released, at least the outer remnants to the last drop of a Disco beat.

  • @PupuTheClown Disco didn't die out or go anywhere. They just chamged the name to "dance music".

  • loving the quality of this video! thanks for upload!

  • @TejMulen The one with red belt is Joni

For future reference: Left to right: Debbie, Kathy, Joni, Kim. That's pretty much how they always lined up on the stage.

  • I'm Russian and I love the United States!!!

  • It seems like the white ppl in the audience are not feelin' them, maybe bcuz they're bothered by the fact four sexy bw singing bout there all-american girls LOL

  • simplemente maravilloso i love this

  • The fucking Great!!

  • This album with Narada Michael Walden (with Randy 'dawg' Jackson himself on bass) was their best overall imho, better than their bigger ones with Rogers and Edwards.

  • Yes All AMERICAN AND PROUD!!!!

  • Fantastic tune and video many thanks

  • THANKS FOR SHARING!! MEMORIES IN THE GOOD OLE DAYS!!

  • The 80's versions of Destiny's Child...but better!!

  • Sister sledge was big at the end of the seventies and eighties and yes they made music for all american girls....GREAT MUSIC...MORE FANTASTIC ´80´s music at my channel!!!!

  • I have the LP, All American Girls on vinyl. What talented, gorgeous ladies, and yes, black certainly is beautiful.

  • @TejMulen couldn't agree wit u more TejMulen.

  • @TejMulen: People like you trouble me.

  • @TejMulen: Answer the question, Tejmulen. I'm curious. Would you have a problem with a song called "I'm Proud to be a White American?

  • @TejMulen: So how would you feel if Lee Greenwood's song was called "I'm Proud to Be A White American"? You wouldn't like it, would you? See, it's people like you, Tejmullen, that can't help but bring race into EVERYTHING. It's people like you that are the problem in this country. You are obsessed with race. You need to lighten up and realize we are all Americans regardless of race.

  • E na @CASSAROLAqToKa do #ChefPaulinho, Tá tocando - SISTER SLEDGE - ALL AMERICAN GIRLS

  • Excellent ce beat! La foule qui doucement se met à bouger de sa léthargie. J'adore!

  • GREAT SONG !!!

  • I can only surmise that the German audience was non too thrilled about them singing about being All American Girls.........but hell, how could they not get up and dance to that bass line????!!!

  • i wish i could get in 70s to merry debbie sledge she's an angel . the song is great

  • Love it!

  • Yes, poor German audience. Recorded during an old German television show called "Musikladen".

I suddenly fell in love with the girl on the left -although she must be >50 today...

  • NMW's clearly got that brilliant bassist from 'I should have loved you' on this. Great song and the Tom Jones version wasn't bad.

  • @gruad999 ... Hi there. I'm curious...who was the bassist on "I should have loved you?"

lol... I'm forever trying to find out who the bassists are on songs.

For this song it's Randy Jackson -waaaaay before American Idol.

  • I would LOVE to see Michelle Obama do a Karaoke to this! It would be a SCREAM!!!

  • forget that audience hmphh

  • Perfect performance, lame crowd.

    (German, i guess)

  • one of their best songs

i believe this song was without bernard and nile?

  • absolutely a song - 4ever - still itches my partyankle... we were like 16 something and made a mess...so innocent, so so-so and so in love :)

  • This track is fab made so by Kathy's vocals

  • Great video and song! fantastic! 5*!

  • Hillary Clinton should have used this song as her campaign theme song. (It wouldn't have made any difference in the outcome, but still...cool tune.)

  • Why was the audience just sitting there like they were being bothered. LOL.

  • Can't handle all of the funk!!!

  • I agree. LOL.

  • I always love hearing and LOOKING at the lovely Sledge ladies. They definitely have it going on and still do.Saw their recent photos and their recent work and they don,t look any older and their sound still sounds fresh. They are a true example of how a female entertainer can still be sexy with out being half naked and all weaved out.Love them.

  • They rocked this song. But, the audience was like a bump on a log.

  • Yep...you can definitely hear the CHIC organization influences all through this song.

  • Actually...the sisters dropped Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers for this album. "All American Girls" was produced by Narada Michael Walden.

  • i did not know about it, i thought it was produced by rodgers and edwars, thanks for your information,

  • it's interesting, I thought the same myself. It's interesting to see how faithful NMW was to the Chic sound the girls had been known for on the previous two albums.

  • GOD DAMN IT

I wish these girls would just go ahead and release a dvd of all of their music videos and some live performances on it.

  • Sister Sledge. A dynamite singing group. The Sledge Hammer.

  • they obvious are playing to a crowd who would rather be at a willie nelson concert.. just look at 1.30 lower lefthand corner,,, dumb blonde got front row seats to one of the great female groups of late 70's (early 80's ) and she got no clue

  • @kansas66204 Yeah hell whats wrong these audiances. How could you not move to these tunes?

  • @kansas66204 This is a German program called Muzik Laden.

  • @kansas66204 yeaa bro I kno wat u mean. ppl dere re sitting lyk in a bereavement lol. they re cold blood germans

  • @kansas66204 YOU ARE RIGHT THOSE PEOPLE ARE IDOTS

  • Fabulous! Great tune!

Thank you & to TLDavis1230 for sharing!

  • Excelente

  • That's they're all American girls, also black and beautiful.

  • @usmc6004 THE BEAT AND SONG ARE GREAT AND NO ONE IS DANCING OR BOBING THEIR HEAD . THAT WAS THE TIMES THEN I GUESS . I DON'T KNOW

  • @MrBigbootychaser : Any idea where this was filmed? The audience doesn't appear to know Sister Sledge or this song (which would make sense since at the time, it was a new single.) Perhaps it's a European TV show.

It's not the times, just that audience. Very reserved. The sisters get the crowd going a bit towards the end!

    Great song!

  • @veeganboy: it is from the German music show 'Musikladen' and I dont know how the audience was chosen, but they seldom got excited of any good music...

  • @aarska hey we're german... nough said... still, we love it!!!!!

  • good !

  • Thank goodness Sister Sledge was on stage because that audience was putting me to sleep.

  • This song really sounds like CHIC not Michael Narada. I think he copied the style of CHIC but I did buy the album back when it came out. I wasn't as crazy about it like I was with the former two albums made by CHIC.

  • I concur. Narada M Walden did his best to par Edwards/Rodgers' previous arrangements but... NO WAY José. He got somehow near, that's all. And it's clear to see if you've followed their career.

SS are always a pleasure to hear though.

  • Does debbie sledge ever sing lead on any of their songs?

  • Superwomen!

  • Where I canfind those funky belts??? They look like the one Samantha Fox used to wear...hiihiiii

  • During this time you had Randy Jackson(american idol)play bass on these tracks not Bernard Edwards or Nile. This was a Narada production.

  • JESUS CHRIST!! Talk about an UNINSPIRED audience. These people (the audience) either had no rythm, no ear for good music, or a bit of both. Sister Sledge might as well performed in front of manniquins.

  • the audience is german...as one might have guessed :)

    they perform at the 'musikladen'

  • The sorry thing is that, believe it or not, I'm sure they LOVED every minute of it.

  • i can't figure out what was going on i gess it was people who was paid to be there . if i was there i wuld be craizy

  • LOL. I'm telling you. That's exactly what i said.

  • I still don't understand how you can give him props for ripping off someone else's style. It's almost like sampling. It doesn't take much talent to do that. I'm not taking anything away from Narada's genius.. but I can't see it or support it in this case.

  • OMG,the audience is stoned.

  • Sorry folks.You just weren't catched up,I suppose.

  • This was sampled for the Tom Jones hit "sex bomb".

  • Very underrated song by Sister Sledge. I've always loved this jam, especially the Chic bass and guitar solo at the end.

  • Mistachill, thanks for confirming what I already knew...I thought this song was CHIC-produced song and not a Narada Michael Walden as Stevenarada said. The Nrada produced album came out in 1982 or '83.

  • Actually were both wrong and Stevenarada is right, I checked it out and this album was produced by Narada Micheal Walden. I was surprised, sounds very Chic-like to me.

  • WOW!!--You're right!

    My Bad Stevenarada!

Maybe Narada Michael Walden was so impressed by the souns that CHIC had created for the ladies that he tried to replicate it!

He damn near did too! (-:

  • Go Girls!

  • GREAT SONG !!!

  • GREAT SONG !!!!

  • Hahaha! All American girls! One of them is walking around over here!!

  • Luv the beat! Gets you into the groove!!

  • Got some great base groove in that song OMG Sisters were fyne too :)) Beauty by colour standard !!!!!!!

  • "Us Germans do not dance to zis Yankee music!"

Unbelievable. I'd be dancing like crazy! But then, I'm a Brit, and like the Americans, we appreciate a quality groove!

  • They are true american sisters keeping it all in the family

  • i love love love this song my fav sisters song

  • argh!!!

i just want to trace every single person in this audience and slap the crap out of them

    are you kidding me

one of the greatest songs sung by arguably best all girl disco act ever, and they sit there some of them NOT EVEN LOOKING!

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME!

  • the ONLY possible explanation I can muster is that the German audience could not relate to them being all-American girls..(as if they could change to title)......but yes, geez they could have at least "table danced"..lol. I'm surprised they didn't at least sway to the music a bit more since it was being taped...the audience looked more suited for a Barry Mannilow concert,no?

  • Disco forever yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • I always thought that it was impossible to be in a concert of these beauties without dancing, until I saw this video where all the public is just dedicated to look as if they were a jury of some kind of reality

  • Siempre pensé que era imposible estar en un concierto de estas hermosuras sin estar bailando, hasta que vi este video donde todo el publico solo se dedica a obsrvar como si fueran un jurado de algún tipo de reality

  • I ;ove this song. I love their way to dance and they are trendy but...DAMN WHAT A CRAPPY AUDIENCE!

  • Great women great voice and indescribably beautiful. Respect for ever.

  • It might be playback, but you could still get up and dance your ass off. Listen to this bassline. Tell me you are not dancing your ass right now...you are if listen to this awesome Narada Michael Walden production.

  • Agreed! Top of the Pops, Soul Train, AB, and every other audience seemed to not mind the playback, they danced, clapped, screamed, shouted, climbed the stage, had cages, go go dancers and every damn thing else because they loved being there with the artists & the music... hell if it was danceable, those audiences danced! lol.

  • this has to be the most lifeless unappreciative crowd ever

id give an arm and a leg to be there for this gem of a crowd

half of these dicks arent even looking, i see one guy clapping thats it

    ungrateful cows!

  • They're lip-synching. What do you expect?

  • there are Germans in the 80s - what do you expect

  • sex tomb of tom jones?

  • Look at the audience, they are just sitting there. Get up and boogie!

  • todos los dias sueño con katty que me da muchos besitos

  • i was 12 when this came out....still love it now

  • Imagine, on stage with this Ladies...

  • HOT HOT HOT!!!LUV'EM!Can't stop dancin!Listen to that Bass bit AWESOME!Thanks for posting this.

  • Look at the way Kathy holds the microphone!

    Thats HOT!

  • Is Kathy Sledge still married? That secret crush still stays with me!!!

  • LOL... you sound just like a friend of mine... he's been hoping, wishing, praying to live out that crush..lol. She's still married to Phil though.......man she's been married to him since her teens, guess she's broken some hearts over the years..lol

  • Love the song. Love their performance. Love their oufits. Love Sister Sledge. Period. Thanks for posting this!

  • I want to be an All American Girl!

    I really do!

But unfortunately, I was born with male genitals.

    :(

  • My favorite Sister Sledge song.

  • çok kötü şarkıymış

  • Always liked this song!

  • This song makes me want to become a girl.

  • Even tho it's 2008 and beyond, DISCO WILL NEVER DIE!!! YEAH!!! Keep On Truckin'! LOL!

  • It feels full circle that Randy Jackson was on this record. He's all over the place now in 2008 with American Idol, a new album, and another TV show, yet he played bass on this classic Sister Sledge song! Randy's played on a lot of albums and his bass guitar parts keep me hooked! This is another great song from the girls from that period!

  • Randy Jackson was a part of Narada Michael Walden's posse'. So most of Narada's projects had Randy Jackson as the bass player.

  • It is amazing as to how Randy went from Narada Michael Walden's posse to American Idol judge. Talk about accomplishment. He is everywhere now. A new album. American Idol. It is just endless now.

  • Narada didn't want to stray away from Sister Sledge's Chic signature sound so he hired Randy Jackson of American Idol to copy Bernard Edwards style and keep the girls' originality at its purest. Sorry to say, but Narada was a genius to do that transformation. A very huge debt owed to Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers, definitely. Totally deserved and this song is like a fine wine ready to be relish.

  • You guys are giving him CREDIT for it.. that was NOT a typical Narada production style.. listen to the Stacey Lattisaw stuff from that same period.. or the Whitney Houston album 4 years later... VERY different...

  • HOLD ON.. does ANYONE see the Narada SHAMELESSLY ripped off the Chic production style? From the bass.. to the guitar..the background vocals and the string arrangements... It's sad to me.. because Narada is talented.. but I can't give him props for stealing someone else's production style..

  • here take a look at this:

Mousse T. with Tom Jones "Sexbomb" same sampel

  • From 1980 to 1982, they were very few funk songs back then that had keyboards, violins, bass, guitar in their songs...if you don't believe me. Check out some of the Kool and The Gang , Cheryl Lynn, Fat Larry's Band, or most of the rare 80s funk music from that specific period.

  • True...and totally abandoned by 83' by producers like Kashif, Leon Sylvers and The System...and even Nile Rodgers himself...abandoning the Chic sound...ironic
