hey guys can we just give some fucking respect of this talented man..hes talent is awesome..in this video his in germany people dont know him here..if u dont have any good things to say just shut up your damn mouth..and listen while he sing hes beautiful song..
Man would I ever love to jam with Mr. Winger. I actually play some Winger songs on the guit, but have yet to find anyone capable of doing the vocal parts any justice. If you ever come to this cow-town Kip, you know you have an axe man.
i saw Kip play Wigan in Manchester UK around this time, and then Notiingham UK the week after. Just him and an accoustic guitar. In Wigan he had just got off the plane, looked terrible but held an audience of 1500 people who had been on the ber for 2 days solid, everyone just stood there in awe, recognising a brilliant talent..........awesome!
I saw him live and accoustic ,just like this video,in Lisbon (November 1997),and it was an excellent performance from one of the best singers of Melodic Rock ! This is my favorite song from Winger ! Thank you,Kip!
great video. Kip has great singing talent. It is sad that his glory days appear to be over. When I was in high school Winger was pretty cool. Just listening to a few notes of one of their popular ballads easily takes me back to those days.
He still sounds good, and he has aged with grace.. But damn is that sad to see him play. To think he was selling out large concert halls, and now he looks a little better than a begger, trying to make ends meet in a club that most people are more interested in their conversations than listening to him. Sad and should be different.
I agree, this looks like an open mic night. Tragic, because, whatever you say anbout winger, the genre or the 80s, he's a fantastic singer, musician and songwriter and he deserves better. This is truly a fantastic song, a masterpiece.
@ezra4no1 Well, there's a lot of people singing along, but if you want to feel beter for him, go watch "Kip Winger - Spell I'm Under Live In Rio RJ (Calabouço Bar) 10/10/09"... The crowd is fantastic, and he's loving every minute of it.
@jnprather I watched the video you suggested on you-tube.. much better.. The crowed seemed to be really into his music and Kip seemed to be enjoying the moment :)
@ezra4no1 Man you are so wrong... True musicians play for the love of playing. His acoustic shows are better that the big rock tours of the 80s! Begger???? You and I only wish we could play for THE FUN OF IT and sound this good. I assure you he is not going hungry and worrying about his next meal or a roof over his head. GREAT FOR HIM THAT HE STILL HAS THE PASSION TO DO THIS. EVEN GREAT FOR US WHO WANT TO HEAR HIS MUSIC!
@80sballadeer I understand that true musicians play for the love of what they do and most musicians enjoy playing in smaller shows where they can be closer to their fans - it's just in this video the people around him just seemed more interested in everything else but what Kip was doing. Also.. you have to admit the 80's large rock tours were some of the best "shows" I have ever seen and something that just isn't seen as often in today's music scene. I am glad to know he is still doing well!
@ezra4no1 I am sure you and I rubbed shoulders at some of the great stadiums shows of the 80s! They are memories I won't forget and I see nothing like them today. I am just glad my generation of Rock Stars are still willing to play for us. A trully great song is just as good in an acoustical version - maybe better.
This is a great song, Rob (drummer) sent this to me I love him I just wish he knew how much. I miss him very much...we are so many miles away it hurts.
holy crap, they have a license from my county in Ohio in the background!!! Funny as hell it's in Germany if that's where it was filmed. He's still got the chops. good for him, most older sings loose their range when they get to be his age.
Too bad Winger made such a drastic music change. I loved them up until Pull. I still have their first two albums. Kip has such a dynamic voice that it saddens me that he has resorted to songs that are simple screams.
hmm, i dont know if i would say its too bad that its a drastic change. I love kips voice and the talent in the band. Pull was just amazing, and Winger IV is great. If you read his interviews he says although he can appreciate that some people like the older stuff most. The interviewer said it best, saying your progression into different style rock is spot on, and they nailed the different sound perfectly. I agree.
ahhh, Kip Winger. He was worth fighting my way to the front of the crowd to tell him I loved him back in the day, and he's still one hot, talented, handsome piece of MAN!! He sounds fantastic and his voice is heavenly. I STILL love you Kip!
sounds like he's playing in a place that don't know Winger, it's sounds like a bar/resturant or whatever, he looks pathetic up there, like no one is paying attention to him. I love this song and I'm glad he sung it in key, and played it in key as well.
Too bad the crowd got into it at the end. GOOD SONG, though!
Great Song! Great Performance! Winger - actually a damn good band back in the day. Folks (especially Beavis & Butthead) dumped on them simply because he was really a great looking guy, who could sing, play and write in a really good band. I just chalk it up to jealousy, the bottom line is Kip Winger is way past cool and may he always enjoy success
very short sighted, I challenge you to find me a guy like this, I'll pay you 100 bucks if you can! (assuming you send him my way to sing on my 1st record)
Kip has one of the most amazing voices of all time...If you get the chance, read his bio. It's very good..Sad when he talks about the untimely death of his wife.
Too bad Beavis and Butthead created such a backlash on them, because it was really unjustified. There were many bands that could have been the butt of the joke and be justified, but Winger was a very, VERY talented band. As a musician you have to appreciate the musicianship in this band even if you don't like their songs.
If you are a true, creative musician, then the small club is the most rewarding experience in every way, except the financial one of course.
You can feel the audience in a very close and personal way, and interact in a way that is impossible in a large venue.
Kip WInger is a true talent, he has the package, he doesn't need anybody else to get that feeling across!
Great performance! \m/

That's in Germany, nobody knows him here. I'm one of maybe 5 people here who ever heard of Winger, Warrant, Ratt or Slaughter.
And they still play in full clubs in the States, they have a Live-DVD of one concerts in 2007.

Maybe he just likes to play and got the bullshit that goes with a big band out of his system.
