However, it CAN work if a drummer knows how to utilize it. It sounds just a lil awkward to the trained ear but NORMAL to those untrained. And Haters just love to hate. I like to analyze the performance from more than technicality. Innovation is a powerful weapon in a drummer's arsenal. Thanks for actually having a degree tho. Where did you study?

@ScitsoWilkerson dude these are no fills, these are chops. you dont play em when needed, they+re a part of the beat/groove you play. and thats why it's such a complex way of drumming: you dont play your skills in fills that you've practiced at home. You play the chops during the whole time and use the basics of the chops to express your feelings during the song. so that means you play the basic (like a paradiddle) on other parts of the drumkit then you practiced at home. you play what u feel.

@Qalstootel They are Peavey drums, I believe......they have outer wood hoops to accept the tension rods, as opposed to metal hardware on the drums.

@darthfrodo99 no but when he slows down the tempo in his fills that is off timing he does do this a couple of times during his fills. it has nothing to do with end at 1.

he is playing out of time... the backing track is't for sure... however I get what you mean zmyboo... but he is doing it wrong... listen to chris daddy dave... he does the subdivisions in time... or even when he get's out of time in porpouse he always get back in time in the right place and right time... but jbass got tallent and some real good fills thougt...

baketa u dont always have to play the 1 in 4/4. thats to predictable. 1 and or 2 is more creative. and he is on beat. u jus sound in experieced.

There's no point in doing sutch fills when you can't find the 1 in a 4/4 measure!! and yes he is out of time, and don't tell me about syncopation he get's off the time even when he is playing the rythm.

Whoever says his fills are out of time has no idea what they're talking about. Syncopation and playing on the up beat are very important for a drummer, unless you just wanna play rock n roll.
