  • oh man, this acting what STAEN ISLAND RAILWAY, do except , No leave's!!!!

  • Okay so im from Australia And on Your subway trains and M7's they have the green orange and red lights on the side, i've always wondered what they are for, if anyone can tell me that would be great :)

  • I have seen that happen once here in the UK too, it happens everywhere,

However a train driver should never manage to do that. Their JOB is not to lose concentration.

Train drivers here receive £1 million worth of training... they are thoroughly tested for concentration, loads of psychometric tests, interviewed about what 'safety critical' means all the time,

They spend days learning the route and rolling stock before they are allowed to work on it on their own.

    ...

  • @Doomsday2060

The problem in this case was shitty equipment more likely then engineer (the US term for Train Driver) error.

  • @nhlives

Errrrr.... of course. I forgot about that, I was thinking too much about the engineer.

Like sometimes on the London Underground (Especially the victoria line where Automatic Train Operation (ATO) is in use) some trains overshoot the platform.

Sometimes the driver will use the emergency brake to stop if the ATO doesn't do its job properly.

  • How embarrassed was that train driver? I keep doing this on Bve train simulator. Maybe I should just give up. Lol!

  • wow this video make me think that the m7s are getting shity and i starting to agree with u i cant believe he overran the station nice video

  • right, which in this case, only happened because M7As don't stop well when its anything other than perfect conditions - in this case it had drizzled earlier in the day. The engineer on this train even said so himself..

  • oh, no. If he was letting pax on/off and everything went according to plan he wouldn't have had to back up so no, you are just incorrect.

  • This is the exact same problem they had in the 70s. The GG1s are beautful, but are getting old. [the m3s and m4s]. Instead ofcontinueing something that works, the m-3s, or the GG1s, they start new and come up with a piece of crap [the e60, and M-7a] ha. morons

  • I know what you mean. Fwiw tho u mean the M1 & M2 cars (1968-1972) - as the M3 (1983),M4 (1994),M6 (1996) cars were "sticking with what they knew", but the M7As like the E60s were "fixing something that wasn't broken" or "making a turd shiney to try and deny its still a turd"....

  • haha

  • this time it wasnt the train even tho m7's blow

    the engineer clearly fell asleep

  • wow, if only you understood - this was not anybody being asleep..... Railfans make comments like this and run their mouths and then wonder why so many railroaders hate them. SHUT YOUR MOUTH and DONT MAKE STUPID (YES, STUPID) ASSUMPTIONS.

  • chill broo!!!!

  • Let me get your opinion, folks.

Who thinks the driver would have stopped properly if he was driving an M1, M3 or one of those older cars? Or do you think the driver was "drunk"?

  • drunk? please don't even hint at those type of accusations. I can assure you that alcohol/drugs WERE NOT a factor here.

  • What I meant by drunk was if there was anything wrong with him. Anything at all, even if it wasn't alcohol.

That was why I put it on quotation marks.

My question was: if there was something wrong with him; or the M7; or if he was driving an M1 or M3 the train would have stopped properly.

    Sorry about the misunderstanding

  • THATS GREAT!!!!!!!!> WAY TO FAIL lol

  • Bring back the P-Motors and ACMU 1000's and Washboard MU's. Lets go back in time when it was the New york Central and New Haven Lines. How about they scrap the Genesis Engines and renstate FL9's and on the New Haven EP 5's from Boston to New York. Whose with me old school all the way right Josh

  • i wish. nice sounding dream though. that would likely also bring back the days when railroad employees were real RAILROADERS and took PRIDE in their jobs, etc..........

  • Yup thats right back in the 1950's.

  • Boy do they suck or what?!!!

  • MTA should stick to diesels, and then run FL9s into NYC like they where designed to!

  • The M3A's and M1A's are what, about thirty years old? They can at least stop properly. God the M7's are horrible pieces of computerized trash...

  • The M-1As are 40 YES 40 Years old. Delievered 1968-1972. The M-3As are 25 years old - delivered 1982-1985.

  • ah ok. Thanks for the correction.

  • im reporting that

  • reporting what? what the fuck are you talking about?

  • huh?

  • THE M7s can't stop the right way

    Proof:

    They.

    Still.

    Suck.

  • lol...... the M7 driver needs to stay awake

  • This video has lots of humor attached.

I thought it was a good one!

  • the m3's sucks the m7's rock.

  • you keep saying that but you never provide any positive data about them. See many of my videos and the comments on them for the lists of things that make the M-7A an INFERIOR car to the M1/M3 cars. Especially the M7A - those cars are quite possibly the worst cars MN has owned. Check out how 70% of the fleet are experiencing computer failures.... See my latest video to see a GP-35 towing a 8 M-7A shitcans off the railroad....

  • He (lirr56890) said M7! Not M7A!

    They both suck anyway.

    lol

  • Either way no M7 "rocks". The M-7 (LIRR Version) can be forgiven a little - as it was purpose built for the LIRR and is working better for them. On MN - the M-7As are useless failures and the problem lies in that the cars were not designed for service on MN but rather they are the LIRR version modified for service on MN making them SUCK worse.

The M-1 and M-3 were built for LIRR and then altered for MN (ok, PC, CR, etc) service as M-1A/M-3As but those cars were well built and well designed.

  • OHHH

So you're saying that these M7As were modified?

    That explains everything.

  • the LIRR has M-7s MN has M-7As. They are the same car mechanically for the most part, but there are a number of differences:

    Seating

    Cab Signal/ATC apparatus

    Door Control apparatus

    PIDS functionality

    Third Rail Shoes

    Voltage configurations

    etc

  • not modified - but built different as they were for a different company.

  • anybody know where the hell LIRR57490 (or whatever his name is) is??? I want him to try and argue with this. M-7As SUCK, PERIOD.

  • the m-7as rock the m-3as sucks.

  • you really should spend more time on them. you would surely change your tune. try working on them.......you'd wish the M-7as were melted into toyotas..... ROLLING BASKET CASES.

  • m3as ......and m7as .... sucks m8as rock if you think im crazy look up video of m8as

  • thats funny - since there aren't to be any M-8As. The car's Metro North and CDOT are procuring will be M-8's - just like the M-2, M-4, and M-6 cars. There are no M-2A's.

  • lol...nice vid...

  • who is THE DRIZZLE?

  • I think now he's known as the fume.......

  • ah dammit

  • what editing software do you use?

    A) crappy train

    B) crappy brakes

    C) overshooting a train station with a M7 priceless.

  • best part now is - i found out which engineer it was and I am surprised I wasn't able to hear him grumbling expletives at this trainset......

  • In a word...priceless.

  • Ah hahahahah. That's really rare to see! It was so funny that it was hard for me to stop laughing! Nice video!

  • Haha, that was funny. They really do need to fix those M-7As though. If a drizzle makes them lose braking ability then I don't know what's in store for them.

  • ahhh hahaha. Gotta love Don Adams. I sure miss Inspector Gadget. What time was this, out of curiosity?

  • That's a subway isn't it? Great video! 5*

  • No, that's Metro-North, 1 of 2 commuter rails run by the MTA (which runs the subways) that serve the NY metropolitan area. Metro-North serves lower NY state and southwestern CT and the other one, the LIRR (Long Island Railroad) serves the area the name states. Check Wikipedia for more details on the exact towns and cities they serves.

  • Actually that's not a subway. That's a normal commuter railroad named Metro North Railroad in the system with MTA. But those commuters car called the M7's do sound like subways cars. Good question to ask!

  • This is (or might as well be) the BMT Northern Division.....

  • today my remark above (BMT Northern Division) was called into question in a conversation with a few MN employees, so I will respond here the same way I did in person:

If you want to be railroaders not motormen and subway employees then think of the job as such, not just being robots. FURTHER - get a real union who won't allow you to be trampled to the point you become drones.
