This is from the second season when the series had moved from NBC to ABC. George Greeley took over as the series composer, bringing most of his cues from "My Favorite Martian" with him. A criticism of this season was that Captain Gregg seemed to be evolving into a ghostly "Uncle Martin" without antennae, with the "pop-in" and "pop-out" and electro-Theremin music effects instead of the romantic ghostly "fade-ins" of the first season.
The second season seemed at times more like "My Favorite Martian." First of all, Captain Gregg "popped in" like Uncle Martin instead of the graceful "fade-in." of the first season. Then, there was the theremin with the Captain's special effects just like when Uncle Martin pointed his finger. Lastly, the music for the second season was by George Greeley, the composer for "My Favorite Martian." At least, the Captain didn't raise antennae before disappearing!
Yes, the original telecasts had "color bumpers" before the start of each episode; during the first season, it was NBC's 'The following program is brought to you in Living Color..". The second season had the bumper, featuring Hope and Edward, seen here [ABC usually had their "color bumpers" tailored for each of their prime-time shows].
Excellent! I havent watched episodes of The Ghost and Mrs. Muir since the 1970s (in rerun syndication). While I have long since forgotten the episodes, I do remember the opening theme which brings back some wonderful nostalgic feelings.
Yeah, that's one fantastic theme song. I first saw the show in syndication in the 1970's as well. It was always lumped in my memory with The Nanny and the Professor, The Courtship of Eddie's Father and Please Don't Eat the Daisies.
I used to watch this on WPWR Power 50 in the 80's. It was probably the first time it was syndicated in Chicago.

Wow ! This show was more than a little creepy....
A ghost shows up to unclog her drain and take the place of a "real" man in her life ?
MmmK.... Her kitchen is "bubbling over and shorting out in every direction" ?
Words fail me.

I watched it first-run! A classic that deserves to be better-known! And a supernatural romance before that was cool!
