I think the fighter in R-type should practically take out the entire level around it when it gets destroyed. It wouldn't affect the gameplay at all, but I like to think the stupid amount of energy in the little craft would just annihilate everything within a pretty big distance ^^

Personally, for me this is very impressive graphics for that time. The gameplay is hard, but keep on playing it and you can get some unique and cool power ups. The bosses are easy if you charge up too. Basically, it's one of the best for SNES that goes with the ranking of Super Mario World.

There is, but you can't play at same time. That means, when Player 1 dies, Player 2 continues. Xardion: Yeap, level 3 is medium, but level 4 lava maze is ANNOYING.

Try Super Swiv (Or Firepower 2000 in USA) for SNES, it haves a coop 2-player, and is quite fun with friend, allthough hard. Another great pick is Gradius Gaiden for PS1, it has been said to be best Gradius ever released, allthough it was only released in Japan, so you have to try your luck with an emulator.
