That was way too easy... I think I can actually do that!!! I want to learn to sew. I will add this to my to do list and. I think I have enough fabric to make a single layer skirt. When. I finish it. I will do a video response so you can see. Thanks a whole lot!!!
@firefoenixveratran This was one of my earliest tutorials and I was still trying to figure things out. For the last year and a half I've been doing a different format with my shows that includes showing the project before hand and better photos afterward.
yes...i also forgot to mention that i love your old vintage sewing machine...i have a singer that's either a 50's or 60's model...my mom bought it when we arrived here to the USA, back in the fiftys...same color too and with all the attachments. they work real well...i think, less complicated than the newer mor high tech!
@aglanceatmyworld no lol sorry I didnt explain myself ...see I dont even know how to thread a sewing machine but I want to learn but my question was the patterns of skirts or pants...or whatever....how do you or I make them to fit me? or do you have to buy a pattern according to your size?
@elsaluvsyah Oh ok. When you buy a pattern there is a chart on the back for measurements such as bust, waist, and hips and you find what size you are according to your numbers. *It will be a different size then what you wear in store bought clothes* Then you buy the pattern that size is in and cut out all the pieces with that size. I've actually got a series gong right now about reading sewing patterns if you want to check that out it might help :)
@elsaluvsyah If you are just beginning I recommend you stay away from Simplicity patterns. Look for Kwik Sew as the directions are easy to follow and they turn out every time. Or just make whatever Whitney Sews; these are excellent directions.
Hey Whitney -- I'm trying to go back and watch all the episodes of Whitney Sews. This skirt is just adorable -- I love how you made the lining piece show at the bottom. Great project for a beginning sewer!
Also -- not that you don't already have a mom to tell you this stuff -- but "grosgrain" is actually pronounced "grow-grain." I think it's french. Seems like lots of sewing words tend to be french -- anyway, I thought you'd probably want to know that bit of trivia!
Thank you. I just happened to come across those two fabrics and at first wasn't going to use them together, but couldn't find anything else. But I like how it turned out too :)
really great..i think i can do it...really thankx....
