Wow, the speed is roughly proportional to what I thought it would be.

I have a Pentium 4 w/ HT @ 4-4.25 ghz and I get like 33-45 FPS throughout the intro without speed hacks but with those I can manage a realtime speed through the entire game.

I thought it was impossible to use PCSX2 with a single core, and with the right build and plugins you could play the easiest games.

If I could get a core 2 duo and OC it to 4 ghz then I would get like 90FPS in the intro without speedhacks probably. :P

That'll still work better than my Pentium 4 541 Prescott w/ HT 3.2 ghz @ 4 ghz.

I only get like 15-20 FPS or less in most games, a Pentium D about the same frequency only gets double which still is not playable.

Q6600 is about 8x faster at the same frequency, so this game should fly at a steady 90-110+ FPS at about 4 ghz.

Blah, I couldn't do it anyways without spending at least another 60 after the CPU, my 8600GT started dying sometime a few weeks ago and the black screen issue during games and even when in 2D mode kept getting worse.

There were some OC's which never caused problems, it was after the overvolting...

But oh well, it's been 2 years, when I started having a few issues 2 or 3 months ago I wasn't sure what it was, I suppose the overvolts worsened the problem, I could have RMA'd last month.

Pcsx2 only supports 2 cores. So if have 3 or 4 cores you wont benefit much of it.

yeah do the plugin ZeroGs kosmos 0.97.1 and then configure it till u get the most out of that then go to sound and select zerospu 2.6

configure and press real time(i recommend that it costs a little fps trough)then if u still dont get enough fps and u dont rlly care about the sound then u just configure and mute then when use pcsx playground use speedhacks first select stable try if not do the 2xIOP and 2x erom or something have fun

also, in cpu configuration menu, at the bottom where it says frame limit, you could limit it to around 60 or so frames, which actually might make it run too fast with a p8400. I have a 3800+ x2 2.0ghz and I limit it to 75 and it runs pretty good.

Hmm... The PAL version of the game (50 FPS) is probably better if you have a slower PC.

I use magic dvd ripper for dvds and power iso or magic iso which are free trials (easy to find patch) and they work easy they even mount the isos for u

Yes. Normal play is 60fps and this game ranges on my PC from about 80 to 120.

You can limit the CPU to do a solid 60 though.

I may be a total moron, but I just can't understand how my 2008 pc can't play games from a system that came out 10 years before. Isn't the PS2 older than my current pc? Otherwise full speed PS2 emulation would require MUCH less power, but since the PS2 had a pretty complex proprietary architecture than say the Dreamcast, it's harder to emulate thus requiring pretty much a gaming system.

Yip. Only 2 cores. So if you have a dual core and can overclock it past a quad then the dual will be faster in PCSX2. I do wonder if PCSX2 will ever have quad Core support. I suppose i could run 2 PCSX2's. :P

1st - set plugins right. graphics, cpu and speedhacks are the most important i think. there are plenty tutorials out there just google them up.

2nd - overclock your cpu. i've got e6600 2.4ghz, 8800gtx, 4gb ram and (win xp sees 3.25 btw) and i noticed that about 10-5% of the game lagged (mostly during talking and cutscenes). setting cpu to 2.7 solved that. doesnt drop below 50fps(PAL). use frame limit too since music and stuff will go too fast.

thanks i have it working now BUT...my fps is rediclious, in the opening scene i get around 10-15 fps and on the menu's, pause screens etc i get around 40-60. im only running this on a fujitus lifebook and it's the only pc in my house, i have 2 macs which are no use to me. is there a way of increasing the fps :S

The EMU only uses 2 cores atm, so ur overclocked Q6600 @ 3ghz is as good as a E6850 or new 45nm E8400. Good job on getting it all working though. About the high fps, u can limit it so that the game runs at a normal speed most of the time :P unless u just posting to show off teh rig. Cheers!

Your processor just aint up to it m8. You need really a desktop pc and a 3ghz+ intel dual to get framerates even close to mines(especially with a decent graphics card such as mine)

yea well im just buying a ps2 now cuz i waited all day for ffx to download and it wasnt even in english :( but there really cheap now where i live theres a game crazy just a block away but thx for help

o btw you should show the whole thing to show people how much it slows down to. the opening 3 ghz isnt enough for the whole opening to be playing at full speed.i have 3.4 ghz and at the slow down i barley reach 60fps
