a baby death is like 37mm which i think the trv900 is, so no step up rings

negative Monk3yk1Dlol.... trv900s are 52MM which means they need a step ring from 52(male) to a 37(female) step ring so that the baby death fits.. the only way they look good is if you get the single step thing that is just 52-37mm if you have like the two ring step ring than it gets to much vig looks like crap and yes you can put a raynox on a trv900 but it tends to lose alot of quality and isnt nearly as wide as a baby death on it.

A vx1k isn't necessarily better than a trv900. It's all how you use it, your settings, your compression styles ect. Sure, the vx is more commonly used, But I do know some people who prefer trv over 1k any way.

yo a vx1k has crispy ass audio you can get amazing colors and settings if you know how to use the cam.. but vx1k mk1 settups are pretty exspensive i got a trv900 baby death settup and its im pretty sure as wide as a vx1kmk1 settup but a trv900 is like a step below a vx1k.. it has all manual settings to set you have to focus it with a focus ring such as a vx1k.. manualy set the audio colors etc. id suggest getting a trv900 but a vx at the same time if your experienced.. but my trv is amazing..

yo manually set your audio if you dont.. if your filming fishy just have someone next to you do an ollie when your setting it try to make the audio level when your messing with it just barely get into the red if it gets into the red that means it have shitty sound same with long lens just try to bump it up to see what sounds better.
