  • This dosen't tell me anything. What was Roman Scoland like? Did the Southern Picts trade with the Original Northern British Tribes? How come the Picts didn't march southwards and help the rest of Britain in AD 43 when the Romans came back? Why did the Southern Picts not accept and enjoy Roman Rule? Did the Romans build much in Sounthern Pictland? Houses? Public Baths? Roads? I seriously don't get why the Welsh and British Tribes became Romanised and the Southern Picts didn't

  • @PhilipK100 Well, I didn't set out to answer those questions. Not bad questions and I assume you are off developing a point of view. A.

  • It is a lovely spot. My buddy and his wife requested that their ashes be spread there, and they where. RIP Jim and Jeanette Murray. Your pal Tom.

  • Thanks Tom for the touching story. Yes, it is a beautiful place. I like Roman history so to be close to it in this sense is rewarding. Alan.

  • Pity they hadn't stayed on.....two thousand years later and we still haven't caught up with them!

  • After all......what did the Romans do for us?

    Apart from that...

  • Yes, the Romans retreated quite quickly. They viewed the people of the north much as we do the Afghans today. Alan.

  • and I thought they left because their empire was under threat...

  • That too. Imagine, Romans threatened by Scots (or whatever we were then).

  • Briar Hill?! It's quite clearly BAR Hill -- there's even a sign that says it, 30 seconds into the movie!
