  • When the singularity comes, this will all seem ridiculous.

  • Either you *know* why you exist, and in turn what existence is, and what you are... or you don't.

Anything else is just meaningless mish mash of 'I believe this' and 'I believe that'. Even if you have some kind of basis for your beliefs (whether it's religion, 'mystical' experiences, or science), they are still just that - beliefs. Assumptions.

Beliefs are the property of the ignorant.

The wise believe nothing, and seek only to know things. And they're honest about what they know or not ffs.

  • @Walley666 Caus really... any of you I see asserting some belief system... I just see an idiot. That actually includes you scientific/intellectual types even more so, because not only do you have a belief system... you've also got this intellectual arrogance about it, this notion that it's somehow superior (and you along with it!), when really it's just more of the same shit.

I've gotta admit, it makes me mad, because you're putting dog shit on a pedestal.

  • @Walley666 The mainstream knowledge of our society is limited, EXTREMELY. Yet you people treat it like it's some kind of holy grail, like 'wow we have so much insight!' or something.

Wake the fuck up and back off from the conceptual masturbation, because that's all it is.

    Have a good day ;).

  • I always knew there was something wrong with the entire concept of "worship". It sounds so wrong, so not what people should be doing. It turns out I was right. All religion is just a poor interpretation of something far greater, something called spirituality or the nature of reality, or consciousness or energy. All conflict in the universe comes from the infringement of the first universal law, the law of free will. And religions, including the religion of science, all break free will in others.

  • Being a Muslim, i think making this movie is quite unnecessary. You see, in Islam, we all are told the purpose of existing. To worship. Simple as that.

  • @TheGoodLife05 Sounds like a pretty sucky life to me.

  • @RainbowStarlightGirl To you, probably. But, to the other 6 billion people in the world, maybe not.

  • @TheGoodLife05 Are you saying everyone else is a Muslim?

  • Say you have a messy room, now using the scientific method you throw a grenade in it. How many times do you have to blow up the room before it gets cleaned up and everything is now put in its place? An easier way is to have the understanding and purpose just to simple have a person clean up the room and place things in order.

  • everyone on here sounds like a bunch of dorks! do you really think anything you type here will change anyone else's perception of life? life can be nothing to one person, a mere waste of time till he/she dies, to another it can be the aquiring of knowledge till you pass on. life truly is what you make it. for anyone to say over another what "the meaning of it all is" is really selfish, you can't create another person's reality. so stop whining to each other please. and don't respond to me!!!

  • eat,

    pray

    love

  • @sylviabombs15 julia, is that you? lol.

  • Life itself (what we in our current form call "life") is just an anomaly in the eternal flow of energies through the universe. There is no such thing as a higher being, because WE ALL are part of a whole.

    .

    EVERYTHING IS ONE !

    .

We do not exist in a sense that we possess self consciousnes. Our reality is just a product of perception. Nevertheless we share this reality with each other.

    .

We must act upon understanding and accepting instead of only perceiving and create a world of peace.

  • Here is is: We don't know and we probably can't know but we should keep looking.

  • DUDE!!! That guys at 1:35 was at my university couple of times speaking how everyone deserves hell and what not. He's freaken crazy.

  • Mankind never get the answer of Why this creation ? Who created this universe ?

  • The saddest aspect of life right now Is that Science gathers knowledge faster then Society gathers Wisdom.

  • @TheBUNNII27 I'm gonna quote you on that. That's a great one.

  • I like what the Native American said, "To be caretakers of Mother Earth." This is our home and we have to take care of it or else it will get rid of us.

  • Comment removed

  • Same as all the creatures on Earth: To reproduce.

  • I love the guy who said he doesn't give a shit

  • To be...... to experience

  • HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHICH ONE? - I'll tell you. Follow the miracles. Follow the signs and wonders: watch?v=3aqKKPMWlza

  • I think the purpose is to realize you can't answer that question with the english language. Whats UP NOW?

  • Once again man tries to explain things with their own logic = FAIL. Repent repent, the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven. People attack Christianity (and I'm not talking about the pope and catholicism) with such a fervent hatred. If it wasn't true, then they wouldn't need to rally against it. Your time is almost over world, the Lord is coming back.

  • The meaning of life is to answer two questions: Who are you? and Why are you here? (The discovery of your character and destiny)

  • The purpose of existance is to have BEIBERRR FEVERRRRR!!!!!

  • @Iceews You my friend fall underneath the yuppie category. (this conclude my trail of thought on this) KRSEternity Knowledge Reigns Supreme for Eternity

  • ALL popular religions (expect for those idiots Hubbard & Taze Russell ) was INVENTED before modern science! The fact that people still believe in beliefs created thousands of years ago by men and woman no more intelligent than a 10 year old modern child I personally find hysterical and a little sad! Obviously we were created by something, but to think that we as humans were given the answers by such beings to our creation is the most presumptuous thing to ever come out of the ANCIENT world!!!

  • no, no, god made you, you are special, god has a very special plan for you and after you die you get everything you want in paradise.

  • We exist to glorify God. Jesus is the only thing worth living for.

  • There is no purpose. I don't understand why you would want one. With no purpose comes a wealth of freedom. We are free to do what we please without any specific task or guide to run our lives by. I don't understand why people find the concept of god so appealing. I guess it's rather romantic in its own way, but the ideas expressed in most religions are exactly the opposite.

  • GOD THINKS THAT MEN ARE ONLY FOR SPERM!

  • Through us and other living beings the universe becomes self aware It see it self through our eyes, hears through our ears, we are star dust in constant transformation The point of existence is to experience, the point of experience is to have fun

  • @tomasleeman: the most sensible comment so far! Though I would tend to disagree that there is necessarily a 'point' to existence. We can perhaps observe that over time, two things are happening: we (the universe) are still learning about ourselves/the universe, *and* we are constantly creating novel ideas and products. So I feel there is some driving force, some motivation in the universe... a 'desire' to learn, and a 'desire' to create... something to ponder!

  • @helenphoto sensible comments about random incidents? but there is driving force behind it? hyporcite. Planets being created by accident? universe created by accident? earth and human beings created by accident, being able to survive and procreate is an accident? Hmm when was the last time an accident created something magnificient? and im talking about total accidents where you drop a stone into water....

  • @Checkingokop. Hi there. You ask many question grasshopper! What I meant by there's no 'point' to existence was that there are no rules by which you HAVE to live by, no particular purpose per se. There is, however, an observable movement of change in the universe that is happening of it's own accord. I don't remember mentioning anything about accidents? Perhaps you would like to tell us about your ideas and we can talk about it and learn something. I love constructive discussions, don't you? x

  • @helenphoto I was referring to you agreeing with the guy who called it an accident. But a random effect causing a chain reaction of something like the Universe and Our Existance is pretty redicilious, sure it doesnt have to be god himself, but it pretty much has to be something beyond us and our existance, meaning that it is more intelligent then us. Natural selection you say? No purpose? So why does this Natural selection prefers "better" things (in our opinion) there has to be a purpose

  • @helenphoto why should Natural Selection and Evolution prefer certain things over other? why does it pefer and how? does it think? Our genes are programed for Evolution? WHy are they programmed in such way, why is life so constructive and evolving if its just a random event?

  • @Checkingokop: Can accidents create something magnificent? Yes, absolutely!! Lets say an 'accident' is: 'something not done with intention', a 'random or unexpected interaction' (which is constantly occurring). From these events you are going to get both 'productive results' and 'unproductive results'. The productive results are favoured and can cause a chain reaction that results in the creation of further magnificent things. Natural selection in action. It's all very interesting. x

  • @helenphoto

Perhaps your 'accident' is another person's divine/subconscious inspiration.

  • We all MADE UP religion. We all DIE. We all go into the ground. And that's THAT.

  • See the problem with these kinds of movies is that it isn't going to provide any answers. All it's going to show (depending on the bias of the director/producers) is that one side is dumber than the other. Even if it is subtle, there's got to be a bias. You got Ben Sein trying to make atheists/evolutionists look stupid and you got Bill Mahr trying to make religious people look stupid.

I think neither side has the right to call the other stupid, because in the end, we just don't know. Peace <3

  • To all non-believers : God DOES exist whether you like it or not.

  • @solarsoul2012 sick circular argument.

  • This film is relativism at it's most pathetic. We're ALL right, no matter what we believe. Jesus Christ said "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man comes to the father EXCEPT BY ME".

Remember, Jesus died for your sins, Bible says NOBODY is good, no not one. We've all sinned and fallen short, But the God-Man Jesus Christ came to earth and died for our sins so that we can be forgiven. not because we're good but because we've been forgiven by a good GOD!. Repent (turn from sin).

  • This movie is complete bullshit. I believe in God and that's that. Lol at the media, trying to brainwash everyone.

  • This movie is complete bullshit. I believe in God and that's that. Lol at the media, trying to brainwash everyone.

  • wouldn't i be better to love yourself then someone else?

  • The fool has said in his heart there is no God.

  • @lepointe Amen!

  • @lepointe Your point?

  • My point is everyone knows there's a God and that he deserves our obediance. But the pride of man and his desire to do what HE or SHE wants to do instead of God's will for their life is evident. Bible says we "suppress the truth in unrighteousness".

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been CLEARLY SEEN, being UNDERSTOOD through what has been made, so that they are WITHOUT EXCUSE. -ROMANS 1:20

    We are ALL without excuse

  • @lepointe A god? Which god? And I don't believe in any god. So that disproves your whole point. Which was only based off assumptions.

And you shouldn't use bible versus to support the belief in a god. Circular reasoning.

  • i m looking forward to see this film, it seems really interesting and it gives everyone the rare opportunity to listen what "the other side" has to say, no matter in what you believe^^ don t miss that chance^^

  • I think our generation (people born 80s and after) is about to witness something extraordinary in the next few years... In metaphysical terms...the veil covering our spiritual knowledge is getting thinner ...people are searching for answers more than ever and we have the tools to learn (internet) However people who rule do not want us to find out what is really going on and they are delaying our evolution with Hollywood movies, junk food and porn , just to keep us stupid!

  • Why must people hope and fear? Because lies of comfort is closure. Believing in mystical things without fact is easy. Sometimes when people lie its because they care about your feelings. But this worlds lies of hate and distrust is swelling up and there's becoming no more room for another. Knowledge or power isn't necessarily an open mind. Who cares what our purpose is or if we even matter to the universe? Just live.

  • Richard Dawkins is a genius!

  • Comment removed

  • @asargentb He's a total opportunist. He makes money writing books for people who have lost Faith and Hope.....what an evil person he is. He is smart, but so was Hitler..... :/

  • @LordWhorfinX2 Did you just relate Richard Dawkins to hitler? They are nothing a like. And what to do you mean hope? hope in what? Fairy tales? Are you saying everyone who doesn't believe in a god has no hope? And that everyone that doesn't believe in god use to believe in the first place?

  • Hahahahahahahahaha... foolish human. It is up to the individual to find it's own truth... for him or her self. But then, there are just some things better off not knowing.. not for the sake of secrecy itself, but for the safety of all. 2000 (counted) years of human evolution and yet you humans still fight, still bicker, still steal and kill each other too. You are so like children.. knowledge is power, why would a kind and loving parent give power to a being that refuses to to grow the fuck up!

  • @LoyalNODZealot

2000 years of evolution? count again^^ of cause if you believe in this adam_and_eve_stuff, you may be "right" but if you look at historical facts, humans walked this planet much longer than 2000 years, they just acted differently from us . evolution doesen t start with technology, but with the knowledge when to use it and for what^^ humanity is a aggressive , expanding race, we will never be satisfied until it all went to hell^^ as all failed experiments^^

  • Your purpose in life is what you make it out to be. There is no purpose of our existence by itself. Especially if all people were to do is prey to invisible men in the sky.

  • @RottenEggCreations you mean "pray"... ;) and that "man" is not invisible, my friend.

  • @RottenEggCreations

You argue that there is no objective purpose to existence itself. Rather, that "purpose in life is what you make it out to be" (it's subjective). But, if I read your comment correctly, you are also saying that praying to "invisible men in the sky" is not a real purpose? So purpose in life is whatever one deems it is, but people who find purpose in believing in God or gods are somehow wrong? I suggest you--and six others--think through the implications of this position.

  • @Carpface88 well you got me there lol. Well I may have my opinions on that self proclaim purpose but obviously that person doesn't feel the same way. Just to clarify I wouldn't say it's 'wrong' I would say it's ignorant and stupid but again my opinions are not everyones opinions and I do find some concepts neat and interesting (reincarnation, spirit animals) but still unacceptable to me.

  • @RottenEggCreations Thanks for the clarification, but I'd still have to insist that you're contradicting your own argument by opining that purpose found in such places is "ignorant." If there exists no real, objective purpose in this universe, then any subjective "purpose" that you or I cling to is a lie, isn't it? How is the purpose you choose any less ignorant than that of any christian or philosopher? Do you see where your rather nihilist assumptions regarding the universe take you?

  • @Carpface88 Its all a matter of opinion. I consider the basis of proven reality to be the best thing to rely on and that we don't know everything and have yet to learn about everything. Others can call my position ignorant and stupid just as easily as I can. Doesn't make them worthless as a person to believe in something or agree with something I don't, not like I can't or won't be friendly or at least considerate to that person. Simple as that.

  • @RottenEggCreations I second this motion now watch the world

  • @RottenEggCreations there is purpose to my existence, maybe not yours. i worship the most high god!

  • LOL @ 0:35 i know someone just like that

  • Another movie that tries to explain everything.....Let's see it!

  • Wow this really looks awesome. I really loved Religiless, but this seems like the director takes a close look at religions other than just Christianity. I was supposed to see it at the San Jose Film Festival, but ended up not being able to make out there. I am stoked that it's going to be playing at the theater an hour away from my mom's house!! This totally makes me want to get a second job & save up for a trip to India or China.

  • This guy just came to my school and showed the film tonight. Raises a ton of questions, it's super interesting, and well made. Don't expect an answer at the end. Just think for yourself. Hopefully it comes out soon though cause I think I'm down to buy it.

  • I hope Roger distills it down to commonalities across belief systems and doesn't just leave the viewer feeling that we're just a delusional species that likes to make up stories about our origins and then kill each other over them. I could see this being great to help staunch believers of any one system to see that they are existing in only one of many many paradigms, hopefully causing some to relax the bounds of limited perspective.

  • We are an accident of probability

  • @tomasleeman who created probability?

  • @tomasleeman To much complexity toward your answer.(Simplify if you please?)

  • @tomasleeman lol, how shallow.

  • @Checkingokop thank you I take that as a complement

  • @tomasleeman

if you knew enough about physics or math, you would know that probability is an illusion and used when we don`t have access to all variables.

  • definately looks intriguing--I would watch it :)

  • Tough topic. Well handled. Looking forward to the movie!

  • I LIKE IT!

I want to see it all!

    petra

  • That looks great. I would love to watch a movie like that.

  • That looks awesome.

  • Can't wait to see the full film. Looks great!

  • I can't wait! Looks great so far!

  • Yup. Looks pretty hot. Fuck Bill Maher anyway. Go, Roger, Go! (and may G-D forgive you - hah hah)

  • You've got me hooked...I can't wait to see it!

    Keep me posted. Barbara-Jean

  • Fascinating! I can't wait, Roger :)

  • I think this film looks facinating...can't wait....
