  • There are different kinds of singing. I can sing. But, when I sing in church, or sing, "Happy Birthday, it is more of a blending than an attempt to stand out. Anyone who is worth their salt, knows when it is time to put up. I sincerely hope, that as great as he was, he can do better than this first thing in the morning. I just had another thought, "The man was probably yelling during the game."

  • the best. love you steve.

  • It's like this...let the players play ball and Steve Perry sing. Amen. No one could attempt to do this and make it really run, it was a Toast to the Chicago White Sox for winning the World Series, not a comeback for Steve Perry. It was about Baseball. If Steve Perry wanted to make a Musical comeback in 2005 he would've done it Elsewhere! Steve Perry is A Class Performer.

  • "Yeah we want to hear Chicago too." Well God damnit, Chicago didn't come here to perform one of their hit songs!

  • Please stop singing! Very Embarrassing!

  • Everyone should stop making excuses for the fact that Steve perry is washed up and cannot sing anymore.

  • Someone please get Steve Perry a mic and stage, we want him to perform for us!

  • Love SP

  • Chicago crowd stunned. Too bad.

If my Canadian mob ...well that's beer under the bridge eh?

  • Chicago crowd stunned. Too bad.

  • goooo boston red sox

  • Wanna bite his knees!!!! Steve Perry's Knees!!!!

  • @nmalin13 U R COMPLETELY incorrect in your statement that Steve Perry was replaced because he can't sing anymore. His departure from the band again back in 1997 had absolutely NOTHING to do with that....

  • I expect a similar scene in San Francisco today or whenever they have their parade

STeve PErry was singing for them too

  • He hasn't done a concert since 1994. Maybe he doesn't want to lip sync the high parts, or auto tune himself. It's the same reason why you don't hear Robert Plant doing "Whole Lotta Love", but he built a solo career over 30 years, Perry made 2 solo albums and a couple of soundtrack songs. He also has no pressure to work on new music, although a Journey reunion would no doubt be lucrative.

  • "The Journey"

  • Steve was singing with his screaming voice.

He sounds much better than that.

  • actually a response to the discription, he actually sings like that now thats part of the reason he was replaced in journey; he sang his ass off and now he cant. its kind of sad unfortunately

  • @nmalin13 How do you know he sings like that now? No-ones heard him other than here when he had been screaming for 5 days non stop. And he was'nt replaced he left, hes choice not theirs. Steve has a natural voice it is'nt a forced voice sure its got deeper everybodies does as you get older, but it certainly is'nt out of tune.

  • just bc he was singing for the team didnt mean he was singing for a concert; i agree sisthodul. steve has the most beautiful voice and will always remain so even thru his age. im a HUGE fan and i cant wait to hear his Cd thats supposed to come out this year! STEVE PERRY 4EVER!!! <333

  • Fucking Crowd Sucks...Go Steve Perry!!...He wasn't doing his best cuz he wasn't really paying attention to his own image, it was the white sox's time to shine...

  • steve is awsome ! but its funny tht he is soooo short compared to the players ! haha srry steve ur still the best ever ! :<) lol steve is awsome and lol when it says " just a city boy........" some ppl said " SHE took a midnight train going anywhere" haha but steve is the BEST and he rocks for getting up there to sing

  • oh dear.. dead crowd!! Its not steve´s fault that nobody sang along! Unfortunately he couldnt keep his good ol voice forever. But i´d rather remember his greatest days! GO STEVE!!!!

  • crack and heroin are bad steve. did you get the memo

  • Well I rather remember Steve Perry on his best day than on his worst day and the same way I think about any great musician.

  • Awesome...great singer...greatest team ever.

  • cum on guys lighten up there just having alittle fun whiite sox won the world series just having fun dont take it seriously ppl go whiite sox go steve perry

  • I honestly think he's doing fine. He does sound like he's on the verge of laughter.

  • Funniest thing is the crowd reaction. THey are deadly quiet. LOL. Steve Perry is really bad here. REALLY bad. Now you know why he no longer sings for Journey!

  • What are you talking about? I remember being there, people we were screaming!

  • Tha'ts not what the video shows..people are dead quiet...maybe you and your loser friend screamed but most of the crowd is dead quiet

  • lol no my loser friends and I were the only ones not singing. It was just a bunch of drunk sox fans singing lol

  • Comment removed

  • IHSP... get off of youtube!

I think Steve can still sing. However, the team can't. Hahaha!

  • this whole performance is pathetic. i bet it would have been better if alcohol was involved

  • i think that they're just singing for the fun of it...it's not like it's a huge performance...I've heard that SP can still sing

  • Oh dear ihatesteveperry...apparently you are veeeery jealous of this wonderful guy and YOU WISH you could have ever sang or looked for just a second in your sorry life like gorgeous Steve...

Lets start making numbers and see how many men on this earth had millions of women after them the way he did and still does?? No matter if he works for Jenny Craig (you wish he did), or for any tight jean company (YOU WISH YOU COULD EVER)

    HE IS JUST BEAUTIFUL.

Sorry you cannot help your jealousy.....

  • The end of a long glorious day. He said he needed help.

Too bad my singing mob had not been there.

  • What a good sport!

  • Apparently nobody making comments has ever gotten drunk and were so happy they wanted to sing...

Just leave the man alone, he was having a good time and been happy about the team winnig, HE WAS NOT PERFORMING AT A CONCERT!!!

And if you cannot hear he still has a wonderful voice, have your ears checked up!!! HE IS STILL THE VERY PERRY BEST!!!

  • @sisthodul I agree with you.

It is extremely difficult to sing with people who can't sing in tune and are tone deaf even when you are a great singer like Steve Perry is.

  • Shut UP Deluded!

  • This was a great moment for the Team and for Steve. These guys became good friends and real brothers. They did not have to share that moment with the rest of us. Steve's voice is still there - give the man a break and let him enjoy himself on this one!

  • He did have throat surgery last year. Some believe he is going to try and make a comeback on his own.

  • try this video (Steve perry When The White Sox won the world series 1 ) he sings it alot better toward the end of this video

  • as a big journey and SP fan it's pretty painful to hear this but I really don't think perry was trying to sing it in performance quality but more so with the team who were just yelling it also sounds as though his voice is shot and tired which can diminish even a great voice like perrys as a musician I can totally relate to that one makes a day and night difference when your voice is fresh. I think he still got it try listen to this video he holds the note pretty well and strong go SP!!

  • Go White SOx!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Arnel Pineda is the HD version of Steve Perry. No doubt!!!

  • He said he needed help. Too bad my gang wasn't there.

  • Friends, dont let friends.....sing Journey...

  • lol @ the white sox and theyre silent fans. fuck the sox.

  • Cubs set reconds, 9 playoff loses in a row, now thats what I call clutch 101 at its finest!

  • dude i was there you have idea what the fuck your talkin bout 2.7 million people. so no...fuck you

  • if u listen at 2:03 his voice gets really shaky when he trys the high notes.... it would be nice to see him try to sing again but it wouldnt sound anywhere close to what it used to... stick with arnel..

  • lol trust me he can still sing :P i was kinda shocked when he poped into a local karaoke joint ware i live.. i guess he was just passing through but he sang a few songs and he still has it ..unfortunatly noone really knew who he really was as most of the people in there were over 50 and country fans ..was still great though ..

  • steve perry did karaoke . . . sure he did. . . no one had a camera phone . . .but if it is on the internet it must be true

  • what happen!?

  • Steve lost his voice and that was one of the reasons why Journey let him go.

  • You guys are losers. This is karaoke! Thety're having fun. He's not trying to cut an album..geesh

  • the people were shocked! hehehe.. steve maybe cant pull the trigger anymore... enjoy life man.

  • HAHAHAHAHAH. Sounds like the party started early that morning! at 2:06, does he say, "c'mon seattle!"

  • OH MY GOD!.....Steve Perry...HE SUCKS BIG TIME LOL!!!! no further comment

  • Dude, why didn't he sing it with a band?

  • they were just using his song for luck and once they got to the world series they made him go to every game so i dont think they were invited lol

  • such a LOSER...

  • yes you are a loser

  • you're both loser

  • Happy moments for our beloved Steve Perry.

  • hahahaha

  • white sox rule baby

  • Now I see why he left journey

  • Aj,Crede, and Rowand, thats what it sounds like to be World Champions...not Soriano,Zambrano,or Dempster one and done Cubs, wait till next year

  • sounds like a bunch of drunks at a party

  • what the? is this Steve Perry? o my God..Go Steve Perry fans ! wahahahah !

  • embarrassing

  • Only if they had gotten the entire JOURNEY band, it would have been great! I guess it wasn't feasible @ that time.

  • WAHAHAHAHAA

  • Lololol they see me trollin'

  • I think he was not only hoarse from the game, but i'm not sure he even warmed up. I wouldn't doubt that this isn't steve perry at his best.

  • Ok Haggar,Of course I believe Steve over HH.If u believe HH speculation,then u believe anything...lol.

  • It's not just HH, It's Neal, Jon, Ross, and the list goes on. Is EVERYONE lying EXCEPT Perry?

  • no if you believe SP over HH, Neal, Jon, and Ross, then YOU are crazy.!! LOL

  • the song applied to the 05 soxs. unlike the cubs they throw the towel in when there down 0-1 in a series and when you lose a game or 2 you cant stop believvvvvvving !!!!!!!

  • hahaha...the fireworks shut them up!!

  • Amazing how everyone posting comments about his voice being "gone". What are you, all experts?? Do you know every little detail about his life, his health, what he does or did on a day to day basis? Oh , "I read this on Wikiapedia" or "I heard this or that..." BS & STFU

  • We have ears!! Doesn't take an expert!

  • Haggar..Ok u seemed read HH interview that spreading lies about SP just because SP fired him.(no wonder)I got his TBF cd and he sounds great so as his solo FTOSM and thats after 1994.He may not sound like INFINITY but still has a great voice hence the album TBF.

  • Whatever!

  • Notice how you don't see his lower body, that's because when he left Journey they turned him into a muppett, there is a little man controlling him from behind the podium, i think it's the devil, or martha stewart.

  • dude he has a cold lol quit hating on him

  • He's had that cold for 20 yrs LOL.

  • haggardfan...is that Merle Haggard? if it is you shouldn't be talkin' about singing voices...

  • yes Merle lost his voice about 20 yrs ago as well. He is still a legend Just like Steve. Look man, Perry was the bomb years ago, but it's over. Stop trying to resurrect the dead. Be realistic!

  • Haggarfan123. What are you suffering from? (polite way to say WTF)

  • Give him a break, he probably was hoarse and didn't want to "show off", since he was singing with all those guys who can't sing - he probably was trying to blend in. I'm sure he can still sing when he wants to. I love Steve Perry and won't stop believin' - sorry, I had to say it

  • yeah right . I Love SP but his voice IS GONE!!

  • I'm pretty sure he can still sing better than you can. :-)

  • NOT!

  • Prove it. Post a video of yourself singing the same song.

  • I have 7 vids of about 18 songs posted of me singing on my channel. NOT this song, but you get the idea. BUT in as low a key as Perry is singing this in this vid ANYONE can sing it.

  • Sorry dude, Steve Perry you aren't! (though you aren't bad). I take this video with a grain of salt ... Perry singing through a cheap mike after shouting at a football game, accompanied by out-of-tune football players, no music and bad acoustics. There are better examples of him singing more recently. Agree that he isn't what he was but he can still sing a helluva lot better than the naysayers who claim "his voice is gone".

  • It's reduced to a LOW raspy scratchy, hoarse sounding tone. If you like that, then NO he hasn't lost his voice. I, however, do not. But we do agree, in his Prime NO ONE was better!

  • Lol, falsetto.

    Andre Matos > Steve Perry

  • falsetto? What the fuck are you talking about? LMAO. There certainly isn't any falsetto in this vid. Do you even know what that means??

  • He sounds like he lost his voice from yelling and cheering for the white sox for the past few days hence the cracky voice. But its the HIP issue that made him quit the band not because of his voice.

  • WRONG !! HE used the HIP thing as an excuse. He knew he couldn't tour TBF album. His voice was GONE. DUHH The year before(1994) he tried that solo tour and couldn't make it through it because his voice gave out. I love SP, but get out of denial. THE VOICE is no more.

  • Hip issue my ass! If you believe that , you'll believe anything! His voice is the reason he quit back in '87. LOL It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

  • Now it explains why SP don't wanna get back with Journey and be their frontman anymore....he sounds terrible!...he sounds like an old man with a bad case of laryngitis!

  • Has anyone out there been to a sporting event like say...even your high school homecoming football game and screamed you lungs out for your team and been hoarse afterward? The little fish in the big pond are awfully critical!

  • i hope hes drunk because that would be the only reason id accept as to why he sounds like this?? for a moment i was like "wheres arnel?".. but please i wont stop believing for SP.. please itd be awesome if u made a cool comeback

  • we have to accept the fact that the best time to quit is when you are on TOP...he still got it, it will never leave him, lest he abused it. PLUS why whine? HE IS SET for life, imagine the royalties?? He set something that is hard to at least match. after all he is STEVE PERRY.

  • Now the fact that he cannot sing songs as it used to be and they want him back to Journey,,,wake up...his voice is worn out but the rest of the band can still play as long as they can...that's the difference from singing and playing musical instrument....THE ENERGY OF PHYSICAL BODY....

  • I'll have to reserve judgment on SP for this bad singing. After all, the acoustics are wrong. It's not a mic for singing, and the rest of Journey isn't playing the song. Because of these factors, I can't judge him for this bad singing.

  • Steve WAS the best, but he really needs to give it up now. I can't believe "The Voice" has turned into that!!

  • answer in description

  • whatever that means!!

  • BTW Steve was the only lad on the platform not on growth hormones.

  • He is singing it a octave lower than he used to!

  • answer in description

  • Don't Stop Believing was the Whie Sox anthem.

The song motivated the team to victory.

Perry and the team were obviously having a great time after a long day.

If you feel the need to be critical of that then you need to take another look at the time and place and don't be a sour puss party pooper.

  • BTW if my Canadian contingent along with my Quebec cousins had been there we would have brought the house down. We know how to mob sing.

  • Sounds like a drunk fat 50 year old. No wonder the band moved on...

  • answer in description

  • awts SP is old enough and his voice won't be as original as he is during his younger years !!! but he is an american rock legend !!! still , goodluck !!!

  • lol... poor guy

  • That must have been so awkward.

  • it seems the people are in shock to here an old voice singing Journey song.

Iceman309 is right! Perry is an old Fart!

  • so is stephen tyler but i still love aerosmith

  • iceman you can go to hell. u dont know wat you are talking about. Most people agree that Steve Perry and Journey are both incredible. Honestly... He is gunna keep playin and it is gunna keep being amazing... Journey is incredible and so is Perry

  • One of the 30 Best selling artists of all time. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

  • Oh man, this was incredible. He sounded great to me. It's jerks like you that probably keep him from singing publicly anymore. If you had a bunch of non singers around you, you would have a little (and I do mean LITTLE) problem with the key, ss well.

  • You're an idiot.

    The cubs suck.

    Always have.

    Always will.

  • YOU SUCK BITCH

  • Was it Ozzie who said "I don't know the words"? It sure sounded like him.

  • Hello.. Uh.. is this thing on?

  • i love how everyone in the crowd is just like WTF lmao no body knew the song in 05 really untill stupid laguana beach :-\

  • Is that why the song got so popular? I always wondered why everyone all of the sudden seemed to know it.

  • Who the hell cares about his voice. He is a legend. As you get older your voice change anyways and he is singing around a bunch of other people who are not singers so of course it is not going to sound perfect.

  • his voice is actually still quite amazing but I don't think he was really trying here, and plus, he didn't have any music to go to.

  • His voice, on this video maybe toast but how would you sound if you were yelling all day and enjoying yourself and then sang for so many people. His voice is his instrument and if he wants to retire and have fun... he deserves it for all that he has given us! He is and always will be "THE VOICE!" Thanx ewetoob for letting us see our Steve Perry HAPPY!

  • buerle is like you guys are fucking morons

  • I've seen this before and I've got to say.. WHAT HAPPENED? I guess thats really why he doesn't want to do the Journey thing anymore his voice may not be able to handle tours. Also I SURE HOPE HE DOES NOT LEND THIS SONG TO HILLARY-I WILL LOSE ALL RESPECT FOR HIM.I think entertainers should keep their music out of politics unless song is written for that purpose. But thats MY opinion.

  • WHAT!!!!? If he lends this song to ANY political party---but especially to that idiot---I'll lose miles and mounds of respect for him!!!! Where did you hear that?

  • I was commenting on what"theropingeffect" said under your month ago comment.

  • wont hurt to have background music

  • You people are all crazy! It wasn't Steve Perry that ruined the song---his voice(even if he was drunk) still sounded incredible! It was the idiots around him that screwed it all up. Listen again. He was, is, and always will be the greatest voice in rock.

  • That was painful. It's got to be one of the most embarassing moments in sports. Hillary is thinking about using the song for her campaign. Steve Perry is desperate enough he'll let her use it for free. Can you imagine Hillary at the podium singing "Just a small town girl...." Ha ha!

  • Jesus....that is horrible.

  • heyy i love the white sox im a yankee fan a huge 1 but the sox r good too i like em its those fuckin red sox i cnt stand they win 1 world series nd they think theyre jesus christ

  • SOX BABY!!!!!!

    I luuuuuuuv youuuu!

Konerko is hot! Same 2 Joe Crede!

  • sox fans are so dull!! for gods sake u just won the world series the least u can do is sing along!

  • At least we won the world series.

    I'm sure w/e team ur a fan of hasn't.

  • Steve Augeri aint even with Journey anymore! They have some new jerk, Jeff Desoto or something! Neal Schon's coke-habit must be WAY bad, out of control, for him to NEED to keep on touring!

  • They were caught up in the excitement, they should have just sang the chorus and that would be enough. Steve is the man however....

  • The new jerk your talking about is Jeff Scott Soto. He looks like one of the cavemen in the Geico commercials and sings like crap! Journey is nothing without Steve Perry! (I've got your back baby!)

  • JEFF SCOTT SOTO IS GREAT but he's been given his walking papers this week.

  • Wish they would get back together with Steve Perry. Then tour, that would be kick ass. Maybe this what they need to get him back.

  • I love this Video! Fuck all you people that have something shitty to say about Steve Perry. He is one of the greatest singer of all time. Looks like he was having a great time! He's still got the looks and the voice! Come to Texas Baby! We Love Ya!

  • i wish this video would not be on here. what an embarrasement. I'm only 14 and i LOVE Steve Perry but this is pitiful. I am really hoping he was drunk... love, peace, and PERRY ~ Jade =D

  • Full of adrenalin and probbaly ful of beer what the fuck do u expect u daft c**ts plus the fact he was 57, and he wouldnt want to be from boston its a shit hole and the red sox are shit. steve perry is by far the greatest musician of all time

  • i am glad he's not from boston too-hey, what did the red sox do the next year-oh yeah, time to disband the winner!

  • They should have played the music along with it that's for sure! But if you truly listen to it in my opinion you can clearly tell Steve still has a "Voice" his IS the "Voice" come back Steve we miss ya! Tell your singing partners to stick to baseball though! lol

  • What losers, If I was within 50 feet of Steve Perry I'd be screaming DSB at the top of my freakin' lungs!!!

  • Steve Augeri will be singing at an Oakland A's game this fall! (2007)

    hahahaha

  • the crowd of his own home town must be retards! nice of them to not join fuckin in!

  • This video does not give the performance the justice it deserves. I was there and it was incredible! Almost everyone around me was singing at the top of their lungs. It was so amazing to hear so many people singing so loud. The news decided to only show the people who don't know the words and the sound only picks up the microphone. Go Sox!

  • The worst Steve Perry performance of all time. This is not the Steve Perry people should remember.
