  • and now, if you like to hear Monteverdi live-recording: "Si dolce é 'l tormento-Monteverdi-Nicholas Spanos & Pandolfis Consort" on YT!

    with the best greetings,

    Pandolfis Consort

  • @pandolfis Thanks for all your kind invitations. I appreciate it very much. You are doing a great job on YT! Good luck to wonderful Pandolfis Consort and I hope to hear more of their cooperation with Nicholas Spanos in the name of ART!

  • Nicholas Spanos live in Vienna with PANDOLFIS CONSORT on 25th of March 2012, Deutschordenskirche, Singerstraße 7, 1010 Wien at 7:00 pm!!!!!

for all of you, who likes hear his voice live!

  • @pandolfis Thank you. Yes, I want very much to hear one and only Nicholas Spanos live in Vienna, but I don't know yet if I can make this trip there from Canada:-) Are you going to record it and post for the whole world and first of all for his fans to enjoy on your channel?

  • Just awesome. Thanks for uploading.

  • Perhaps it is just what I am used to but I prefer to hear this beautiful music in a less resonant acoustic? Often when performing in France I have found churches there over resonant as compared to those in England. I feel that details, especially of coloratura, are lost. Also I can't hear Nicholas' great voice as well as I would like.

  • @christineannemarsden I agree, and also commented before that the quality of the recording is very poor. Who knows about the real resonant acoustic in that chuch if you are there as a listener? Actually, in all videos, recordings some details are lost, especially if it's not a good professional studio recording. It's always better to listen to a singer live and judge as I can judge as I've heard Spanos live, and no modern technology can catch all the NUANCES of his voice! But still some details:)

  • Si dolce é 'l tormento-Monteverdi-Nicholas Spanos & Pandolfis Consort auf YT!! Konzert-Aufnahme!

  • This is fabulous! really enjoyed it!

  • Wonderful performance!!!

  • very refined, the perfect voice for Monteverdi. And Bisogna morire is just a gem! I am more used to Marco Beasley's rendition - so that completely different manner in which Spanos does it really makes a pleasant surprise.

  • @henrietteschenk Nastya, thanks for the link with Arno Raunig in Shnittke's Mephistofel. Actually, the sound itself is good, but he has too much that "androgynous" effect we talked about before on Spanos's Wie lange noch!:-) No, I prefer Spanos's very MANLY singing with NO sexual ambiguity! I dream of Spanos and Cencic, great CTs living in the same city of Vienna singing together!:-) Even better with Raunig like 3 tenors before but I'd prefer Lemos with them:-) Thanks. I'll watch Beasley now:-).

  • @henrietteschenk Nastya, thanks for the link with Marco Beasely again. A good POP version of Monteverdi's Si dolce il tormente:-)I agree with Italians there who wrote that he should sing it in Sanremo, and it has nothing to do with ancient music, baroque, Monteverdi, etc:-)... Well, for a pop singer he performs it very well. If he doesn't claim that it's TRUE baroque and he is an OPERA CT or TENOR singing it with some elements of falsetto, I don't care and it's OK for me:-) But I can't stand BS:)

  • Super! - Dankesehr!

    best greetings!

  • all you can hear in this video it´s not only Monteverdi...

best greetings from Pandolfis Consort Wien

  • @pandolfis Best greetings from Spanos's fan club on YT too!:-) As monicadumitre says he is the greatest!:-) We want more:-). We hope Pandolfis Consort Wien will continue its wonderful work with our ONE AND ONLY Nicholas Spanos and will gives us more joy in good professional recordings! You all are bravi!

  • 1. Monteverdi: "si dolce tormento" with modern improvisations for two violas da braccio

2.Johann Heinrich Schmelzer: Sonta 9 from "concentus musico-instrumentalis" 3. Monteverdi: "Et é pur dunque vero"

    4. Andrea Falconiero: Passacaglia (violin and violetta)

    5. Anton Reichenauer "Ave Regina"

    6. Stefano Landi "Passacaglia della vita" (Version Jakub Burzynski, Warsaw)

    thank you for your comments!!

  • @pandolfis Thanks for your reply. So you mean to say that this video is not only Monteverdi's Si dolce il tormento but composed of excepts from all these pieces? Or only that in that concert the musicians performed all this?

  • Magnifique !

Sorry for my poor French:-)

  • Lovely, he's the greatest! thanks, Serena Yana,I loved it.

  • @serenaluce

Merci Yana !! c'est un beau partage ! un grand plaisir !

    Amitié

    Marie

  • J'aime beaucoup !! Belle voix! Merci! AV

  • @ALEXISVASSILIEV Also, what a beautiful piece of music! One of my YT friends, professional musicians, confessed that it's Monteverdi:-) Just stunningly beautiful music! We want more!:-)...And good luck to you too in your career! I definitely want to hear more non-aggressive beauty on stage then "modern innovations" called "new face of opera" which only kills all the beauty and great music with its ugliness! Classical beauty is timeless and moves the HEART!I want to listen it to it again and again

  • Tout a fait! Il chante très bien ici! J'aime ca voix! Rien a voir avec les autres contre-ténors! Merci! AV

  • @ALEXISVASSILIEV You are so right that Spanos's voice is unique, not like other countertenors:-)Well, he is in class of his own! I think every artist should try to be in class of his own. E.g.Max Emanuel Cencic is unique too! Daniel Taylor too! Matthew White too! Gerard Lesne too, etc!:)Countertenor's technique is the most difficult and sophisticated singing technique, and every countertenor who manages it well should be surrounded by ADMIRATION! I wish it were a good professional recording here.

  • Это не может не понравиться!

  • @lolita7961 Lolita, nice to hear from you again. Welcome back too!:-) Rada, chto vy vernulis':-). I couldn't agree more with you here that it's impossible not to like THIS!:-) I can't help it. • Hi, What a truly wonderful & beautiful video, this is absolutely magnificent. Thank you so much for posting & serenaluce for sharing.

  • @socrates640 Nicholas Spanos is so great that he never stops surprising me though it seems that I already know very well what to expect from him:-)Let's share this video with as many people as possible:-). Dear friends, please don't forget to rate this video if you really like it:-). Thanks again for posting. We want more!:-) Nicholas Spanos is a real genius who lives among us, and we witness history of music in the making! We are so lucky to live at the same time with him and other great CTs!:)

  • @serenaluce Hi Yana, yes Spanos is magnificent. For a man to even keep a passable falsetto is amazing but for him it is nearly unbelievable. Thanks so much for sharing this one.

  • @MyMagic111 I couldn't agree more with you here. For more than 2 years already since I discovered for myself Nicholas Spanos's voice on YT I still haven't been able to believe that his singing is TRUE!:-) It's too good to be true! How does he do it?:-) Such incredibly beautiful and warm sound, not of a sexless "angel" but expressing all HUMAN EMOTIONS! Such sound production! You can't figure out where it comes from!:-) Just PERFECT in the meaning that it moves my heart and transports to HEAVEN!

  • It starts with si dolce e le tormento.

  • Stunning!

  • Wow! I'm back and won't miss such new gems by one and only Nicholas Spanos anymore!:-) So, so beautiful! Through this amateur recording I can hear that it's PERFECT! Divine voice! What exactly this piece is? By whom? Musica poetica is a too general description... Thank you so much for posting. Long live Nicholas Spanos and his extraordinary timeless art!

  • @serenaluce I am glad you are back, was getting too quiet here on YT! ;-) This is a beautiful sing, hands down!

I am very happy that you sent me this link, your Spanos antenna is working very well!

    chris.

  • @mradaChris Dear Chris, I'm happy to hear you've missed me:-). Of course, my Spanos antenna is working very well as he is my favourite number one:-). Don't worry, I'll send you right away one very interesting video by Behjun Mehta with our comments initiating by me, you won't be bored, guaranted! It's not quiet here on YT anymore! LOL
