In the late 80's early ninties my roommate my roomate wouldn't let me play HS in thr apartment because he said they were "satanic heavy metal." Oh how times have changed!
I think I saw these guys play at winterfest in Quebec around 1988. Little hazy-I was in 8th grade and all. I did eventually buy the album. This was by far my favorite song
@KhabukiJo It was about 1989. Frozen Ghost opened for them. Pauper in Paradise was their first song. Kind of a weird tune to open with but I remember it because the bass was thick.
this band was so underrated! The 80's had the best music any decade had to offer. I don't think it will be like that ever again. Unfortunately, I believe it's because of music sharing like these sites. We all love them, but I believe they are a hindrance to upcoming artists and their willingness to put out great NEW music.
@shadowspawn2000 my ibanez was one of the owrst '80's' guitars I owned and it was a Jem 777 original run number 713 signed by Steve Vai himself. 2 microphonic pickups, basswood body that tremolo moved forward, poor upper neck where it was scallloped….traded it for a custom Jackson …:)
@hellish1102 i've actually heard the same thing pretty offten about ibanez being crap. i once played a friend's jem that he was trying to get rid of and i hated it but a little while later found a used DTX-120 destroyer that i was pretty damn happy with, great guitar really. go figure..
These guys could've been, and SHOULD'VE been, much more sucessful. Each album had a different feel to it which led to an uncertainty with fanbase. 1st had a somewhat new wave feel, 2nd a progressive pop rock, and finally this one that just had AOR type songs. Each one great in it's own way, though. And, live, it all just meshed together. Can anyone upload the song "Love Fever" ? Without a doubt my fave H-Suite song, and impossible to find anymore....
We'd go see Honeymoon Suite to watch the guitar player. We'd stand at the back of the bar with our arms crossed...critics. We expected Derry to part the Red Sea for us nightly. We demanded it! Derry was a cross between Eddie Van Halen and Michael Schenker. Derry was was probably one of the best rock guitarist alive at the time. Nobody was faster or capable of pulling of tricks, modes, scales, arpegios, hammer on pull offs, trill picking, legatto or stacatto picking.
Yeah I remember that commercial. I had heard is was Joe Satriani playing the solo. Regardless, I never understood why they didn't just let Derrie Grehan play his own solo. He definately has the chops!
I met the guitarist and hung with him for a bit in Knoxville 86 , they were real nice guys . he was the pepsi comercial guitartist who blew the tops of the Pepsi bottles in the commercial . remember that one ?
@NEONAVALON Great commercial. He didn't play the "solo" there, though. It was actually Vinnie Moore, who is now with UFO. Still, it was a cool commercial. I saw these guys at a state fair in about 89-90 and they rocked. Much heavier band in concert, but a great show and tons of great tunes.
Had never heard of these guys 'till i saw them as support for Status Quo in 1988. Brought the cd Racing After Midnight and loved every track, brought the two previous albums recoded them all onto cassettes and played them for months every day when i started my first job as a builder in the summer of 1988. Drove everyone nuts. So many memories. Rock on.
