  • The guy looks like Taz from TNA.

  • No dislike... WOW!!

  • Mechanicville, NY had one of these for years on the town hall as a fire alarm. When I was 13, I was riding my bike across a bridge over the Hudson in that town, not far from the town hall, when the thing went off to signal noon. Scared the livin' $%#^@ out of me!! Just about jumped off my bike & into the river!! Didn't think such a relatively small horn could be so freakin' loud!

  • what is the difference between a horn and a diaphone?

  • @KnittingPasta They are both powered by air pressure/volume (some horns also use steam), a horn has a diaphragm/disc that vibrates creating the sound (being pushed and released by air), a Diaphone has a piston (usually made of aluminum) that goes back and forth creating its sound, because of this, the Diaphone is much more efficient.

  • @BIGMIKESOCAL are diphones more louder than train horns?

    please reply=)

  • @kreegan25 , Yes it is

  • wow,little car,huge horn

  • best one I've seen yet! makes me want one!

  • out the way big mike comin thru

  • Cool horn Mike. Is that out near riverside county? I noticed that it looks a little like the backside going down to Palm Desert.

  • @cdamauser1963 , This was filmed at Angeles Crest Hwy...

  • Damn! that is a spectacular echo

  • About how many decibels is this right at the end of the horn? Like 150?

  • Worlds most terrifying bird call

  • It never sounded THAT good when it was up on the Municipal Bldg. Even with its mate - sounded like an 18-wheeler on steriods - never had that classic Gamewell "bark". I guess they were giving all the air to the T-Bolt (laughs)....

  • I so much want one of these big horns install in my car but I don't know what is the legal limit of loudness..

  • @jairokg

  • Thats the awesomest echo ive ever heard

  • how much is that horn worth?

  • @LogWiz , $2,000-$3,500

  • @BIGMIKESOCAL damn worth every penny. thanks mike

  • Do you have any *-2-T diaphones, where "*" is any letter?

  • I was a junior lightkeeper in the 60's. This "takes me back". As much as I love that sound, when it went on for days at a time it became quit tiresome.

  • watch for falling rocks.

  • sounds like home, mostly cuz i live on mount desert island in maine and live right down the road from a light house

  • That horn is off the hook!

  • I love Diaphones.

  • Believe me, if a car is blocking you in traffic, honk that horn & it will move out of the way!

  • terrifying

  • The best audio fun I've had in ages Big Mike. Newcomer to sirens but you're my fist favourite - thanks!

  • Lol i used to have a fog horn as my car horn

  • do u work for CD

  • @nukesvids , I'm a Civil Defense volunteer because I own a few warning signals and air raid/tsunami sirens...

  • @BIGMIKESOCAL Hope you know that if your a part of Civil Defense if theres Nuclear war your the one everyone looks up to and trusts to help them

  • @nukesvids Yup, got the manual and know where the active bomb shelters are in the area...

  • Goosewell type geese?

  • just wow. damn mike i would have never thought that thing would be sooooooo loud.

  • that made me jump

  • Woah.. that's got a nice sound to it!

  • funny

  • I love it! And I'd love to borrow it and welcome the next freight train engineer who lays on his train's horn as he passes through town at 2 AM! If nothing else, he'd definitely remember need to change his shorts afterwards! lol

  • Awesome! Man you have all of the fun toys. No fair!

  • These must be common around NY, I am from Buffalo, and I have herd this sound in several locations in combination with a siren to alert voulenteer firefighters. As a young kid I Hated the sound of this thing, it scared the crap out of me and made me feel horrible.

  • Thats very impressive!! Love the echos!!

  • Where is Angeles Crest Highway and Echo Point?

  • Best car horn ever!!!!

  • WOW that really made me jump out of my socks. 0:34

  • Bloody hell, that's one loud horn!

  • I not really like the sound/tone of the horn, but the soundpressure and echo are awesome! :D

The audio quality itself is also very good, you're pretty serious about that and I like that! I hate crappy video's which are about recording of noise and sound ;-)

  • damn that would be sweet on my Ford when i drive to work over the autobahn lol...Big M you are living dangerous hope your testings will not cause a land slide ;)

  • wow want one for my x-b. for traffic assholes!!

  • yup, me too. I was at a red light listening to the traffic report with my windows open, if you were outside the car you can barely hear it, then another car stopped next to me playing some rap crap. I turned up the volume a bit to hear the traffic report and the asshole turned his volume way up. I would have like to have this fog horn pointed towards him on full volume.

  • impressive echo! more videos please!

  • That is just so bad ass! ladies and gentlemen I introduce to you the king of horns! BIGMIKESOCAL!

  • awesome 5/5

  • My god, that echo is amazing

  • Perfect duel octive. You got some big tanks for that Diaphone Mr Big Mike SoCal. Those echos went on for ever.

  • For this diaphone demo, I had two 33 gallon tanks and a 12 gallon tank all linked together with 1" piping. That's a total of 78 gallons! Makes for some good consistent blasts...

  • @BIGMIKESOCAL wwwwow. :o loud horn.

  • WOW! i cant belive the echo!

  • that sounded awesome. And you reminded me, I need to check in on a few I know are out of service, and 2 more I recently discovered, that are most likely in service.

  • Next Diaphone video recording blast will be against the Queen Mary...

  • I can't wait for this!!

  • Gimme $20 on BIGMIKESOCAL!

  • Man, you're a horn genius, LOL! Awesome echo!

  • Echo Point.. they aren't kidding! I have to drive about 3 hours out to the hills of western Mass to get echoes anything close to that. Awesome.

  • Adam, The echo up here is incredible! It was hard to get these recording partly due to the long lasting echo. A lot of motorcycles ride through here and the echo of the bikes last for a while. I have to time it just right to get my recordings. "Echo point" is about a 2 hour drive round trip for me.

  • GRRREAT!!! Amazing sound.

Bumping against the rocks, the echoes create beautiful harmonics. They're nicer than the sound of the horn itelf.

Have you counted how many times they bounce?

    Thanks for sharing.

  • I was trying to find the word for the echo, all I could think of was flange..yes!! Harmonics!!

  • Thanks for the compliments Raoul, Sorry I did not get a chance to count the echoes bouncing against the rocks and mountains. In person I timed the last echo with the long blast drom the diaphone. The longest echo lasted for 56 seconds!

  • B-E-AUTIFUL DIAPHONE!

  • Wow ,amazing echo! 5/5

  • Sounds like a duck
