the rear cabrioles have got to go....form was atrocious...front arm pumping up and down looked really really bad...form on the last pirouettes lacked precision...too much tension in face and upper body...some of the jumps were pretty good, such as double turns in air....the quick walk to stage left TOTALLY looked wimpy and gay...who the "f*&&k" gave the go on this choreography???
I love this solo from The Nutcracker. I saw the ENB do it last night, but there will never be another Nureyev. Such a great height in his jumps and his jetes are fantastic!
Yes, Nureyev was incredible. He was a great dancer and had wonderful stage presence. And yes, Barishnikov and Nureyev had their own styles and were different dancers. Personally, I prefer Misha but no one can deny Nureyev's talent.
me encanto este video Este bailarín me encanta mojalá sigan asi ustedes mostrandonos a los grandes arteistas de todas las artes con excelente imagen, sonido y que no se tarden en cargar repito EXCELENTE VIDEO
Consider the time period. Baryshnikov was a whole generation later. Technique improved alot between Nureyev's prime (the late 50s, early 60s) and Baryshnikov's prime (the mid to late 70s, early 80s). In a way, if there was no Nureyev, Vasiliev, Soloviev, Vladmirov etc. there wouldn't have been a Baryshnikov. It's not fair to compare a computer fom 1999 and a laptop from 2009. See what I mean?
Perhaps Baryshnikov's technique is preferred...and who doesn't love MIsha? However... Nureyev had a taller, more elegant body. What an absolutely gorgeous ballet dancer, wow!
He had so much charisma and presence - an artist of the highest order through and through - I would have paid to see him sweep a stage! What a marvellous ambassador for humankind he will be when future generations come to look back on our era. As Keats said: "A thing of beauty will reamian a joy forever...it will never pass into nothingness"
Nureyev was technically brillant and sublime. Callas was a marketing phenomenon hyped up in the USA. There are plenty of superior sopranos who just did their job day after day, like Gundula Janowitz. Please don't even mention these two in the same breath. Only the great Nijinsky compares with Nureyev.
Sorry,I really don't agree. We can compare La Callas and Noureev because they reach the same level of sublime, each one in its art. Let me not be with you, about that topic.
not only did nureyev dance in this performance but he also .. Produced .. & .. directed it .. +++ adding long lost male choreography which we all loved & appreciated so much improving the story line of the ballet ~~ it was a great loss when he died aged 53
fluff around wrists have got to go as well...total visual distraction
