Although the Germans might make the worlds best weapons and cars (plus some other stuff) this first version had the scroll-wheel issue.

But that is normal, considering it's expected for first gen/version of stuff to have flaws.

My G5 is still working perfectly to this day. Great mouse.

So it's a question of features/awesome looks vs simple and good . Although I can't really say because I haven't tried any of them.

They sound very alike because the composer Grant Kirkhope made the music for Banjo Kazooie, and worked together with another guy to create the music in Donkey Kong 64 :)

No it is not. It's a completely different mouse altogether.

The newest version of the Kone doesn't have scroll issues. Only the first version has that problem.

Hello, i have a roccat kone as well, for almost a year now, and a week ago the scroller/ middle mouse got loose, and now no scrolling available. Im trying to open it but there are no screws, i really dont want to scratch it or damage it. Any ideas on how to extract the outer shell??? Other than that i am very satisfied with the mouse! thanks in advance

This mouse is utter crap and the company making it are a bunch of lying, stealing a-holes. I've had more contact with both their mice and their workers than I would have liked. I had 3 Kone's and all 3 had their mouse whell die within a month. The 3rd one was the so called v2. Same thing. They fixed nothing!

And these problems are happening to everybody. Also their support took 6 months to replace my mouse... 6 f...king months!

The mouse button was a VERY frequent problem in the first version of this mouse (the one I had).

As it said in the annotations, a version 2 for this mouse is out and it has fixed the scrollwheel.

I've heard people having problems installing the drivers on Windows 7, but there is a guide on Roccat's site that guides you through it. Mine worked perfectly with XP when I had it.

The Kone has more buttons, and you can customize it more. It also has lights (but those aren't really necessary).

G5 has a more rounded grip, and is a bit smaller. The grip has this rugged feel, which I personally like, and it's sturdy and smooth.

You decide for yourself.

Kone has more DPI than the G5. So you will be more precise when changing using the DPI buttons on the mouse itself.

I don't know much about precision and such, but you won't really notice a difference in games. When you are in this price range almost every good mouse is the same. You're paying more for lights, customizing and such.

hey man , i use to hate corless too, but right now i have logitech G7, and honestly its pretty awesome, i dont lose contact, so like it does the job, it does run out of batterie but it take 2 secs reput it, its usb rechargeable so yeah ;)

you should review logitech G7 worth it :)

The laser is so strong it cannot be seen by the human eye. That's what Roccat said in the description of the mouse. I guess cameras can capture the laser :)

Unfortunately we do not give out information on which Kones already inherit

the new parts, and which dont. There is no way for the customer to know that when

he buys at a shop. We did not used terms like version 2″, V2″, or anything. Some

customers use these terms, but they originate from forums. It is how some people

call the Kone with enhanced parts. Not us.

You can click sideways and click the button, but you can't scroll up/down with it.

It's rather large, so if you have tiny tiny hands, this might be uncomfortable. For me, it fits perfectly.

Good grip, good general "feel" and lots of useful things, like the DPI +/- buttons!

Hi dalonelybaptist. The mouse wheel on mine has broken twice, I'm on my third Kone now. However after contacting Roccat they have redesigned their scroll wheel to address this. So if you contact them directly rather than your retailer, you're get the new stock rather than the old.

My new mouse does feel more solid, but I guess time will tell.

Well, you can't hear the click unless you really turn everything off and listen to it.

It's not that sturdy no, but that I would think has something to do with it being able to tilt sideways. But it doesn't affect me at all. The only bad thing about this mouse is that button in front of the scroll weak, it's slow. But that's a small issue.
