Wow! Didn't know the tics could be like that. There's a customer at my restaurant who also has tourettes, but not so extreme. Didn't mean to offend you. Hope you can have u can still have a satisfying life. People should have more information about this disorder so they won't freak when you encounter somebody with tourettes. Good luck.
@anonimato1987 I was not exaggerating, but people with Tourettes do not all have the same tics. Even my tics do not all stay the same over years. Other people with Tourette Syndrome may have different tics.
is that the tv on loud, that would trigger more aggressive like tics for me, i like it very quiet in my home :) with little motion around me, cats and dogs moving, and kid, sets me off too, but im keeping them in my life, hehe. So i will deal, lol.
Hey, you and my best friend, who also has tourettes, have almost the same arm tic. That one where it's fully extended and then the palm opens all the way. Sometimes, it looks like a dance. Unfortunately, I also understand it's one of the ones that can hurt the most. I think he's thrown out his shoulder before because of that one.
@LylyCSM2 I can't even see people with movement disorders move without ticing beginning in general, and sometimes I do what they do. That is why I can do poetry of Tourettes on the spot, but stopping is another story. Tics can hurt, muscles spasm really hurt bad. Tics vary. Vocal tics hurt when they feel more stressful inside. &I feel like I am vomiting sound (gross I know) but can feel less urgency and force inside. Tics can look & sound the same on the outside but internally different.
you know unfortunately thanks to certain films tourettes is commonly regarded/ laughed at as something comedic, i find that really sad when i watch this video
@TYDyee If you have Tourettes after all, do not always impose control through focus or the tics will build upp and get worse. (that is assuming you are able to focus and stope them momentarily,(hwich may not be something you can do). Just in case you have a differecnt movement disorder, I would look at all of your medicines that you take for any reason. Find out if Tardive Dyskinesia is a side effect, that could be the cause & can become permanent. And talk to your doctor!
@JonahTorn Yeah...My doctors and I have been playing with different medications. So far I've been on a multitude of blood pressure medications (Not at the same time though. haha) And they seem to help, but they just make me tired which isn't good since I'm out of the house by 7 and home around 10 or 11 so I'm always tired enough. My ticks aren't even that bad, it's more of a concern when I'm in a movie or on stage. But your advice did help! Thank you!
@TYDyee Ask your Dr about the new study that may show a connection between tourettes and histamine, based on the man with Tourettes syndrome, a possible mutated genes and the fact the man in the study also had several children with TOurettes. Ask him (if you want) if this new data indicates that all or most treatrments for Tourettes may be doing nothing for tics and that the improvements may be the normal wax and wane of tics. This could all be wrong, but I would ask.
omg, I can't believe there are actually people dealing with those kind of tics, with that disease! I wish all the better to you, and I wish you get better (and soon).
@xgenra I dont think you would like it somehow, you wouldnt last one minute in a Touretty body. You think its all about swearing etc but hey, that only effects 10% of Tourette experiencers. But all go through at least some of the rest of the stuff we go through and sorry to burst your bubble and all that but stepping inside one of us would frighten the hell out of ya. And be careful what you wish for because with your karma you just might come unstuck there...
Hey Jonah. hope all is well. i had a question about your syndrome. although i feel bad when i see your videos or others like it i cant help but laugh. Does this offend you or other persons with the same syndrome? i dont mean it in an offense way at all. im very understanding of the syndrome
WHat I have the most trouble with is helping people understand that imitating my tics triggers more tics. Offense is a secoundary concern in those case, if it is a concern at all. When I get really bad I would be bothered by laughing because I may b in danger of hurting myself or the tics are causing pain, and that is not funny or always easy to see. Sometimes it's obvious my tics are becoming dangerous for my body and that I am already hurt before anyone laughs.
hey omg dude you are awesome youre my hero ..iam a 22 year old female and i have tourrettes i just got diagnosed like 2 years ago soo iam really strugling with it but you have a been an insipartion to me thank you so much..
It's just really brave and awesome of you to share your experience of TS. Hats off to you. My son has TS but its not nearly as severe. Its disheartening to see all the jokes about TS but I love all the positive responses you have gotten. I'm wondering as a mom of a Touretter and also a health care professional if you have sought treatment and if anything has been helpful.
I hope you continue to tape yourself and publish the videos on here and educate others. It's incredibly important as there are so many who imitate tics to be funny, not realising the effect is has.
Videos showing different situation, sitting, walking, whilst interacting with others would be very interesting. As would it be to see the effects trying to control/hold the tics in for a while, has on you.
Of all the videos I have seen, yours are the best yet. Best wishes to you. :-)
i thinks it's great that you're sharing this with other people so that people who fake tourettes, can stop doing that and realize that it's not a funny condition!
Ive never seen tourettes before other than that 'tourettes guy' video that my friend showed me. People laugh and make fun of that video in the comments, I even thought it was funny but when I came across your message you sent me and saw your videos it was like the exact opposite of funny. You're doing a good thing and thank you for sharing!
You sent me a message saying that you saw my comments about a stammer/stutter video and I found it very interesting because I have never seen a stammer or anything like it in my life. When I watched your videos I had the exact same feelings as I did with the other video. I think it is fantastic that you put this on youtube for others to see and realize that not everyone's perfect and that we all have flaws in complete different ways...
omg i feel so badd =/
