With the modern alignment of I-24 and with Jake Brakes, Monteagle Mountain is really no big deal. That arbitrary speed limit and the agressive enforcement actually makes the mountain LESS SAFE. Just like you did, find the RIGHT speed where you are not using your brakes, and let 'er roll.
When I went down that mountain, and I did several times. I was in 8th gear and jake in high by the time I entered the highway. Didnt matter the weight, the truck stayed at 35mph the whole time.
Thank you for giving safety so much consideration. However drivers and motorists alike in the eastern half of the U.S. are under the impression that Monteagle is some big deal. Until you've driven a truck to Portland you haven't seen anything.
Nice video. But it is Monteagle Mountain not Mount Eagle. I live 10 miles from the foot of Monteagle and I drove over the road as a owner operator for many years. I have been up and down that mountain many times loaded when it was 2 lane and deadly. It is not that bad now. The ramp was on the right untill a COE went clean off the end and the drivers died.
@TheOriginalFredMann Dude honestly? I can control my truck. I didn't touch my brake pedal once all the way to the bottom. You know honestly bud i could have stopped that 80,000 pound truck if i had to because my brakes were cool i was operating at about 2100 rpms i would have jammed the brakes dropped a gear and jammed and so on and so fourth with the excellent compression my engine has wich= stronger jaking and my cool brakes i would have stopped that truck without an issue so eat a dick fucker
how fast were you going.

@dan14922006 so, what you are saying is,
as a "professional",
you are no longer required to abide by the "45MPH speed limit for trucks"
