Sounds like Ellel tower -> Vodaphone tower, The Empire State Building -> Fly Emiraits building, Tokyo Tower -> Beijing Tower or Chrysler Building -> Hyundai Motors Building.
As far as i'm concerned every since I was a little boy this building was called the SEARS TOWER and that is what it will always be. I flat out refuse to call it Willis Tower.
It will always be the Sears Tower in Chicago, However United Airlines is considering moving its main offices into th building "United Tower" has a nicer ring I think

I will never call it Willis Tower!! I was born and raised in Chicago and known it as Sears Tower since my mama told me!! Who gave this willis dude the right to change a famous Chicago landmark's name anyway?? It sounds ridiculous! This video proves that people just aren't gonna get used to it, unless you were born in 2009, but for the people in my century, it'll always be SEARS TOWER!!!!
I have really strong feelings about this, and my friend just found out that it was renamed.
uh, Sears tower is NOT the tallest building in the world, CN tower in Toronto is waay taller than that and was the tallest for more than 30 years. Tallest now is Aburj Dubai in UAE since 2007
Anywho, I feel how Chicagoans feel, when they changed the name of Skydome to 'Rogers Centre' Torontonians still call it Skydome...even today. Only the ones that JUST moved to Toronto or the young ones who don't remember "Skydome" call it "Rogers Centre"
Well you said the CN Tower was the tallest BUILDING in North America. Though it can be called a radio antenna, I don't think it's much of a building. I've been there, and there's just a few floors of observation deck and a restaurant on top. You could stick a little house on top of Mount Everest and call it the tallest building in the world, but that wouldn't really be fair. People live and work in the Sears Tower. I think it deserves credit for being such a tall, completely occupied building.
"Tower" and "Building" are two different things. A building has top to bottom occupancy space with rooms, stairs, elevators, etc...a tower, like a "free standing tower" such as the CN, are different...think Eiffel Tower, etc.

Changing the name of the Sears Tower is like changing the name of the Eiffel Tower, it's just not right.

The CN Tower is just a glorified radio antenna. It only has 4 floors at the top.
flipwits2 2 years ago
Your point? it's a 'tower', doesn't matter how you describe the CN tower,it's still taller than the Sears/Willis, taller by a long shot

Either way, it isn't the tallest
ever heard of Aburj Dubai? Or Petronas Towers?
it isn't the tallest by a long shot
tallest building in the US, yes, but not the world liek that girl from the video said....it WHAT I'm saying
ashmantoronto 2 years ago
I know it's not the tallest building in the world. I'm just saying it's a more deserving "tallest building in North America" than the CN Tower.
flipwits2 2 years ago
@flipwits2 lol nice comment; stick a house on top of Everest. lol i can see it now; tallest building in the world; 29,000 feet; top that Dubai!!!!
