I love Bob Denver & Herb Edelman...BUT.....the writing on this show was DRRRRRY!!....( I loved it when I was 10 back in 68) I actually like the 2nd theme song version better....

This is indeed a second season episode, "A Chimp Named Sam", originally telecast on December 5, 1969.

My guess is this was from the second season when they wrongly changed the original format,apparently for ratings.I also wish they hadn't changed the original theme song,much more memorable than this one!
