In just over a minute they have managed to play viciously destructive riffs and smart melodic segments back to back. Truly an awe-inspiring album, not only in death metal, but in music in general. Too bad most people can't take the noise level. They have no idea what they are missing out on.
@venusfly9108 more specifically death metal, and minus slayer, I agree...though morbid angel have lost all dignity and respectability now...should have quit while they were ahead
@SROCeallaigh I'm speaking about extreme metal in general and their prime works, except for Death who I believe wrote not one bad album in their entire existence.
@venusfly9108 well I can think of far more important metal bands than those mentioned, the only obvious stand out to me in general terms being death as their inlfuence can not really be overstated...but has to be said, nocturnus have not been given the due credit for pioneering the weird keyboardy death metal that Atheist and Cynic did after them

Love this record - best song off the album. Good choice!I prefer Thresholds album, but this much more manic, and Mike Browning's voice is more sinister.
