  • I like to think that this video starts after the end of "Lolita" (1997)...sounds like vengeance....

  • LYRICS:

Floating over empty streets. Away from pain, away from everything.

Pray that we will survive the night. Buildings falling, the soul vaporised.

Watching you sleep, but I know that your heart has grown cold.

Let me dream if only for tonight, that we leave together in the first morning light.

Alone and forgotten. I bow my head in shame.

Before you all answers reveal. So I sink my sorrows in the sea.

  • where can i buy ANY collisto album? itunes doesn't have them.

  • First Post-Metal album I heard. Goosebumps for the entire thing. I shit you people not. And it still fucking gets me to this day, almost a year later. Klas and Johannes' vocals are absolutely titanic. Some of the best I've ever heard.

  • One of the best metal songs ever written without question. Unbelievable.

  • This is one of those special songs that just make you fly.

  • "Back to chapel town..." Such an epic title.

  • One of the best songs I've ever had the privilege of listening to.

  • Cunt of Luna - Back to the Kitchen.

  • @N1V3K0141 hahahahahahahaha

  • @N1V3K0141 - blow me

  • in short...times come times go...nowday i listen and feel the power within theese guys. Believe harvestman, neurosis and isis...blabala...are one of most powerfull music creators in their genere...of what...i think that those who had grown with such kind of music since childhood, had felt more than those who see just pure fucked up devilasslickers. take care. good music

  • This song is RAD!! I had never heard of Cult of Luna...I just saw a band from Canada called ATOMIS and they stated Cult of Luna as one of their main influences. Now I see why! Who wouldn't want to be influenced by this band! Search Atomis live at the gateway on youtube and it's the first video that comes up.

  • Awsome video of an awsome song, from an awsome album.

  • one of my fav new bands...these guys are dope on sooo many different levels...LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEEE THEMMM!!!!!!

  • this vid has the bald guy from obZen's cover

  • @eztmegmostminek haha true i just noticed that :)

  • @eztmegmostminek no i don't think so, the dude on the ObZen's album is jens kidman himself i think

  • I believe Epic music is the most suitablle genre. Although Beautiful was also correct.

  • @SparksTMV there sweet-core .... get it right! lmaooo jp

  • dooooooooooom!

  • who made this video?

  • superb one

  • WTF ???? you have cut the song.... damn you

  • It's not SaintVitus' fault, it's the original clip so the song is in its radio/TV version.

  • love it.

  • Cult of Luna is post-metal / sludge metal. End of story.

  • Silly conversation...

  • Amazing

  • Cult Of Lunas Genre is

    Postrock/Progressive/Deathmetal/atmospheric sludge

    amazing band :)

  • i prefer to just use "beautiful" as their staple genre

    but that works too :)

  • I could care less what genre they are, their music is melancholic and dismal as can be

  • NO. dont ever fucking mention underoath here.

    nor are they post-hardcore.

    they are amazing.

    its a genre...trust me

  • Amazing.

  • How about we just call Cult of Luna amazing... that will be their music genre... the Amazing Genre

  • Haha yess! I agree! Amazing Genre sounds good to me

  • @dontforgetthisnameah yea really!!...im sooo sick of everyone labeling good metal with a genre...THESE DUDES ARE EPIC-CORE lmao..

  • This reminds my of Underoath's stuff off define the great line.

  • lol underoath.

  • eh...just the high guitar part layered over the top reminds me of it a bit, i havnt listened to underoath in forever lol

  • its wierd how people are having arguments over genres for a genre that is clearly about removing such classifications..... mabey we should just call these guys post genre!!!! would that make everybody happy? i thought not BD

  • Comment removed

  • first time i've heard about Cult Of Luna

    i'm impressed O.o

    love it

  • I agree more with the label of atmospheric sludge or atmosludge than post-metal because I think that all this 'post' business is bullshit. It doesn't mean anything.

  • dareisaya: "atmosludge" should give more sense than post-something? lol stop inventing bullshit and go out :-)

  • I'm not inventing anything, asshole, sludge metal is known to be an offshoot of doom metal and hardcore, which is what Cult of Luna is, but they have more of an atmospheric approach than a band like Eyehategod. Putting the word 'post' in front of a genre doesn't mean anything.

  • post metal is broadly characterized by distorted guitar, heavy atmospherics, gradual evolution of song structure, and a minimal emphasis on vocals. sounds like a decent way of categorizing this band's material. Post anything to me is more like taking ideas of a genre and making innovations by breaking trends, and it makes sense to call it post because after you've taken ideas from a certain genre, the music you create will be post-(that genre), if that makes any sense. Both genre titles work.

  • Well at least you're being more open-minded than onexroundthesun. I know what people are referring to when they say post-metal or post-rock, but I don't really see the meaning of the prefix. Genres labeled progressive or avant-garde break trends, but those words make sense. There is no similarity, to be, in the progression of hardcore to post hardcore, metal, to post-metal, or rock to post-rock. None of them really describe the genre. They aren't different enough to warrant a completely new name

  • I think the prefix means exactly what it is, just after, it came after like an evolved version that's not necessarily better but different. Post- and Avant Garde, are very similar, I think avant garde can be a broader classification. Anyways they are all ways of labeling bands and they all fit, it's just ridiculous how many labels people have had to come up with.

  • Well I think that's more or less because bands are so obsessed with being different (understandably) that they come up with new names for existing genres in order to break the mold.

Either way, Cult of Luna are astounding.

  • call it (atmospheric) sludge metal

like isis, neurosis, giant squid, minsk, rosetta, callisto, baroness and all the other bands.

  • awesome video, and one of the best live bands ive seen

  • this is one of the most beautiful music vids I've ever seen.

    No lies.

  • wait, so having your own opinion means you're closed-minded now? what the shit is that about? i mean, i dont think it's bad, but if someone doesn't like the vocals, that doesn't make him, "closed-minded," or means he has a, "lack of comprehension," it just means he doesnt fucking like the vocals! it's music, not an intellectual debate over the intelligence or lack thereof of people in regards to non-mainstream post-metal bands.

  • Hellion, you are absolutely right.

  • Well said sir.

  • good video, thanks for posting

  • amazing song,,, the vocals works perfectly in their music.just that

  • if you "don't" like the vocals you are totally mixing up what your listening to...col is amazing. in every way.

  • those of you who cant accept the vox, or think they are screamo..? are totally missing it all...that would show a complete lack of comprehension and really dont know what your talking about..

i mean sure you might now like the vocals but to call it screamo indicates your knowledge there and hence.

  • I've been listening to these guys a bit lately. Quite nice stuff. The vocals aren't exactly my taste, but they fit the music perfectly.

  • I was the same when I first headr these guys, the singing totally put me off but then I just kept listening to it for the bits I liked and now they're one of my all time favourite bands.

  • I don't think he could sing any other way with this music. It's perfect.

  • It's freakin amazing.. Can't live without them <3

  • The music is really good but I cant accept such vocal, its just so disturbing...no ofence

  • why the fuck do people spam this shit...its just his opinion...dumbasses

  • thanks...i just visited the comments and also was surprised for this fake democracy although i am not from the country of possibilities.

  • fuckoff dude, don't say that kinda shit. It's youtube, not the fucking government.

  • I personally enjoy Klas Rydberg's growls, but I completely respect your opinion.I hate those dickheads who spam everything they don't agree with.

  • @SaintVitus They're one of the few growls that I can handle. Most music like that I just think "Oh grow up", but Klas's vocals work. Bit like Aaron's in ISIS as well.

Awesome song from an awesome album.

  • @marshalsea shouldn't be such a music nazi.

  • @MacDresGhostises What, because I was agreeing with SaintVitus?

  • @Bolable yeah me too

  • @Bolable why don't you find a new band? check out some christian rock, fag.

  • @Bolable When I started to listen to this kind of music I had the same opinion, but eventually I came to understand this type of vocal performance. Now I love to hear some nice growls instead of listening to some divas singing. And i'm not that much into metal, i'm more of a techno head!

  • what the this......

  • if you listen to their old ablums they get better and better on every ablum. I'm a huuge fan of them. Great job guys.

  • dude...this is what pink floyd sounded if they made a death/doom album its fawkin awsome :D

  • c'est si déprimant,si bon si réconfortant a propos de la situaton du monde,ca me rappel que j'ai un DRACONIAN qui m'attent...allez!hop!au bad!!

  • I must thank Cult of Luna. I had been listening to Neurosis, Isis, and SIgur Ros for awhile but I needed something new to tap, and Cult of Luna pushed me into a new direction. I still can't find this album in any local stores but luckily this forced me to purchase The Ocean's Precambrian. I'm so damn metal-sludge-post-arted out. So much heavy emotional goodness. Please buy this and save music!

  • its funny how your statement matches with mine... i ll go and buy them! i swear

  • hedlik, do you mean The Ocean or CUlt of Luna. I swear i need to buy them as well lol. They sound great either way, I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't find the albums. Curse my local record shops.

  • You've got an AMAZING taste in music. I'm a HUGE fan of Neurosis and Sigur Ros, along with Isis, Cult of Luna, Mouth of the architect, Mastodon, Intronaut, and a ton of others that take the same direction. I've got to say, Cult of Luna is one of the best bands since King Crimson!

  • Try a couple bands called "Burst" and "Baroness". I think you'd like em'.

  • also. Khoma. for clean vocal lovers. but imo one day Klass' vocals will aninhilate all these haters.

  • One of the thing that bothers me about the whole post rock thing though is that you can trace a direct lineage through awesome bands like neurosis to simply uninspiring bands like death cab for cutie. Post Metal and upbeat indie music should be kept far apart

  • @FragileZeroSpace if you ever need another band, gojira is pretty great, theyre alot heavier than post metal, but theyve got some great influences (death, tool, neurosis, meshuggah etc)

  • @generalten Owned their newest album (unfortunately even the title elludes me, because aside from "Vacuity" and "Art of Dying" I couldn't dig it much) but You were correct, because From Mars to Sirius is in top twenty favorite albums of mine. In fact, if they made another album closer to that album, I would go out and buy it right now, but I'm scared I may not like The Link much.

  • 42000 views. If there were any justice in the world it would be 42,000,000. Serene video, outstanding band.

  • Awesome song and awesome video clip!!! Cult of luna one of the best bands right now on earth!!

  • chapeltown? sheffield? does chapeltown have something to do with sheffield, england?

  • Ils ont osé écourter le morceau, c'est une honte --'

  • haha i live in chapeltown sheffield haha awsome my new fave song now lol!

  • ojjjjjjjjjjjjj KURWA ZAJEBISTE:))

  • Mindblowing !

  • So depressing, yet so extremely wonderful. Honestly, that's the best kind of music... "Somewhere Along the Highway" just gets me everytime, along with "In Fiction" by Isis and "Russia on Ice" by Porcupine Tree. So desolate and hopeless it's beautiful.

  • It's late, and I meant to put "And With Her Came the Birds," not "Somewhere..."

  • right on man ,you gotta check falling unknown from neurosis aswel,it's on a sun that never sets ,and another beautiful song is digital bath from deftones ,but hey so many sad songs out there =) kill you from koRn ,Blue Hotel from Chris Isaak OH OH ,check clara rockmore ,a song called valse Sentimentale ,that may be the most depressing thing i've ever heard ,it's with a weird instument called a theremin ,soo soo sad ,i found it from david firth's work ,check that name also ,peace Rob

  • post metal is another name for it, it rules regardless

  • Doom metal rules!

  • This is not really doom, more atmospheric sludge. If you want doom look at Monotheis by Celtic Frost and III: So Long Suckers by Reverend Bizarre. None the less, this is a spectacular track by a spectacular band.

  • been following this band since the beyond came out, that was my first exposure to them, and i love this band, beautiful yet crushingly heavy music, great tour would be cult of luna and isis, and swarm of the lotus if they were still around

  • This would be a good combo Cult of Luna, Mastodon. Oh yeh ^^) maybe throw in some devil sold his soul.

  • I like Cult of Luna. The only problem is that they're being noticed by the sort of cunts who like throwing around the phrase 'post metal' or 'slo-core'. It's like slow, atmospheric metal didn't exist before some goatee stroking indie fuck 'discovered' Isis while browsing through an issue of CMJ.

  • ah, and that's the kind of attitude that comes when somthing you thought you were clever enough to know about suddenly becomes well known. the 'I knew about this first' feeling of superiority, just be glad that they're getting pulicity. I love CoL, always have always will. Post metal/drone/doom call it what you will it's great!

  • I think we can all agree on a title for Cult of Luna, Epic Metal.

  • so fucking tight

  • kill yourself

  • dude you are a badass! please continue to argue with me over youtube!

  • Fucking hilarious, 5/5.

  • how is it funny?

  • ZAJEBISTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! już niedługo koncert w Polsce:)

  • Epic

  • false

  • U SUCK LOL!

  • also false

  • false

  • love it

  • This group is excelent, the melodies are dramatics , me like to listen their songs, are fucking great!! they are a one of my favourites bands of metal. Metal FOr Life!!

  • Neurosis,Isis,Cult of Luna,Callisto,Pelican...should I say more?

  • Neurosis, ISIS, Cult Of Luna <3

Try Quiritatio, Turdus Musicus, Desperado, Insense :D

  • Cult Of Luna are far more superior than Isis.

    This is so fucking good.

  • Cult of luna's last album is great and probably the best album of both their discographia, but overall Isis's albums are better imo

  • In a lot of ways I agree, but I wasn't too happy with Isis' last album. I mean .. I was, it was good and all. But it carried a super common motif throughout, as far as the actual instrumentation goes. Not that an album should have a common atmosphere, I get that, but a lot the music sounded similar to me...

  • By the way, when I said that, their last album was still somewhere along the highway, not the eternal kingdom progressive wankery. I don't particularily like Isis' new either, and whenever I listen to isis nowadays (which is rare) it's usually their mid-early stuff like, oceanic and celestial. Besides Neurosis kick the shit out of both Isis and Cult of Luna.

  • Oh! Pardon my ... ignorant preception of time! But I still dig Cult of Lunas new album, its not that bad! Though this album is my favorite. And I agree, Neurosis is the best, in my opinion.

  • Comment removed

  • Cult Of Luna are far more superior than Isis.

    This is so fucking good.

  • beautiful music

  • away from pain away from everything!

  • buen video.. es destacable... buena banda doom

  • fucking love this video!!

  • post-doom, thats the best i can come up with

  • is there a connection between cult of luna and khoma? :) both are great ;)

  • yes, same guitarist.

  • massive voice.

  • Is this not atmospheric sludge metal?

  • Sounds like a metal archive`s label...

  • Yes it is. Some people said that Cult of Luna is based on Isis and Neuroris sounds. Who cares? Its most impressive band that u've ever heard.

  • I like Isis better, their last album is great, very trippy

  • Add a couple of "post" and "proto" to that,

maybe a "core" or two, and I'm sure you have

a label that will keep the kids happy.

  • Hahah, Mr. "Unframed" is fucking retarded...

"Doom Metal"!! Hah! you have no clue what your talking about

  • "It's doom metal, avant garde doom metal to be specific."

Lol, epic fail dude. The band calls it post-metal or experimental rock.

  • WTF PEOPLE, it's like you've never heard this type of music or what? Damn, Neurosis has been around for so many years, they founded this type of music, you've all been in a cave. This music is to good to obtain a stupid f'n genre!

  • ""This music is to good to obtain a stupid f'n genre!""

    So true...

  • no doubt huh, leave the genre's to your pop crap on the radio

  • wtf?! every type of music has a genre, whether you call it doom or just plain old metal, it is impossible to make music without it being classified. if you don't agree with it, you don't have to pay attention. just enjoy the music and fuck classification, but accept that it happens dudes.

  • eastcoastrulez are you retarded? Honestly when does lewk mean look... if that is what its supposed to mean. Is it too hard to spell correctly or are you just dosile. Wait, let me put it in your language. Us fuken dum gots not brainz cnt poo cents geva. Retards put you to shame

  • Docile*

  • nice ;)

  • nice video

  • Sweden

  • they were awsome at download!!!! where are they from anybody?

  • It's post metal and it's awesome.

Seen them twice now and they've managed to recreate the ambience you have when you first listen to it.

Can't wait for Mono and Jesu on 17th November now.

  • It's doom metal, avant garde doom metal to be specific.

  • Nice ending.

  • yes... cult of luna is a like a fetish now for me... hahahaha... muy god, I hope that Johannes never read it... well... what I'm trying to say it's that that video it's something sacred for me... yeah, I'm "skizo", but knowledge is not a door closed for me...

    good night...

  • Well, I think it's safe to say that pretty much all of these "post-metal-something" bands are Neurosis rip off's.

  • Ok, well in that case- these bands ripped off Neurosis, who in turn ripped off The Swans, Throbbing Gristle, etc., who in turn probably ripped off someone else... where does it end?

  • ive been into all kinds of metal since i was 13 yrs old (im now 30)and ive heard alot of mighty metal played in that time, but to me personally ive heard nothing as awesome as cult of luna !!

  • Weird and scary, Weird and scary...

  • i didn't get this video... really can anyone that gets this video being related to the song tell me how this video has any relation at all to the actual song... didn't get this.. just weird

  • Isis feels more like Neurosis than Converge. Isis has an element of acceptance in their music while Converge always feels much more frantic in their expression. A more active aggression.

"Isis" as a feminine archetype intrinsically touches on receiving energy & while a convergence point must also receive from all points outside of itself (also COL logo), there is a more destructive nuance to this word than Coalesce, who in my mind sits right between Isis, Converge & COL.

  • I saw Cult of Luna play at download and bearing in mind ive been to over 50 shows and 2 festivals, they are the best band i have ever seen in my entire life, fucking amazing live.

  • 50 Shows? Man thats ALOT (lol)

  • GREAT !

  • They are soooo similar to Isis, but they're also sooooo awesome!!!!!!!!

  • What? Are you actually deaf? COL, who play melodic doomy metal, versus Isis, spazzed out mathcore freaks??

  • you mean Isis do mathcore???!?Like Botch?or DEP?Are you serious?

    I think you're the deaf guy...I mean,listen to:

Isis,Cult of Luna and Pelican. They're all awesome bands, but they play in the same way, same guitars tuning, and they are under Hydrahead, wich produces that kind of "doomy melodic metal"...

    Mathcore freaks?I mean,c'mon-----

  • COL belong to Earache, not Hydrahead. Pelican play weird ambient music. Isis are FAMOUS for their rapid time changes, discordant guitars and screamed/ spoken vocals, and are in fact more bass-heavy. I take it we're talking about the same Isis [the band who supported Tool recently]? These guys owe more to Dark Tranquility or Neurosis, Isis more to Converge. You are wrong.

  • I think you may be right, but I really don't know how you can say that Isis owes more to Converge.I really don't know how that is possible.

I mean listening to Back from Chapel Town from Col,reminds me more of Isis than the freakin scream and cutting edge guitars wich are the trademarks of Converge.Ok they're not on the same label, but they belong to that doomy-instrumental(very cool indeed)musical scene. You have to make some examples, wich Isis song owes more to the Converge to your opinion?

  • Can't remember the song title off-hand man, the song finishes with the singer saying [just by himself, no instruments] "as quiet as a mouse." Anything I've ever heard by Isis sounds like that, although I do admit now that there may be other releases that I haven't heard which may be different.
