@tinkerthecat does that mean they're now PPV in UK? I stopped watching wrestling about 11 years ago and up until then every single WWF PPV was free on Sky Sports. The only exception was about 3 UK events that were on Box Office
I was ringside for this... Happy memories and I was a legend at school after my step dad came through with tickets for me and 3 of my friends! At the end of Hogan's match against Sergeant Slaughter when Hogan is milking the crowd I through a cardboard banner I'd made of him from pages I'd cut out of my WWF magazines. It bounced off the ropes, hit an unaware Hogan in the back and ended up under his boot as he cupped his ear for the roars of the crowd. I was willing him to spot it and pick it up!
if Roddy was on coke, I'm sure Vince supplied him with it ... but, if law enforcement found out about it, Vince would fire Piper and claime WWF had a drug policy - if the charges were dropped, then Vince would rehire Piper and supply him with more coke.
It also went wrong during the Bulldog vs Bezerker match - The lights went out and the arena became pitch black - thank God this was before Health and Safety - They would have evacuated everyone from the building.
@pearljam619 The Bret Hart music came on and the announcer began to announce Jim The Anvil Neidhart when The Warlord was walking down the aisle. I have been a wwf/e fan for over 25 years and this is the first time I've ever seen such a production botch.
Sadly i was there and it wasnt a very good show at all. Anvil and the Warlord match stunk, Superfly v Barbarian was funny as the lights went out during it, credit to them tho they kept going, and Hulk Hogan wrestled the same match he has done for his entire career
There was no Sky Sports or Sky box office back then. Only EuroSport which showed Prime Time Wrestling & Sky One showing Superstars & Wrestling Challenge. Sky Movies plus also showed the big boxing fights.
At 4:00 when it shows the crowd and theres that kid being held up wearing the black Ultimate Warrior t-shirt, Ive got the same shirt that I bought on the European Rampage back in 1991.
Ive still got it! Its all faded and stretched but ive told my girlfriend if she ever throws it out ill drive her car into the river!
hi i was wondering if anyone knew if there was a cllip on youtube showing the beginning bit to every wwf video i used to have...it showed all the wrestlers and had music in the background and came on everytime before the ppv started...i cant remember anymore than that except one bit in clip has hogan shaking his head..duno why im remember that bit..i think it happened at certain point in the music..anyone know what im going on about? its in all old wwf videos...in uk anyway..thanks
I know the footage your talking about. Its at the beginning of every old skool 'Silver Vision' video. Has some really old skool music and clips of the rockers, hogan etc. And some guy talking over it, telling you to grab the latest Silver Vision videos for each PPV. I have so many of these videos, but no equipment to upload :(
I went to the house show before this up at whitley bay, good times. I remember the sky movies stuff now, it's something that is blocked out and makes no sense as a child.
Yeah, you're right, it was 78,000. But the REAL attendance record for a Wrestlemania would be 20 years later, with 80,103 packing Ford Field when the event returned to Detroit.
The WWE has made up attendance figures that are larger than the real attendance for the past 25 years. In recent years, they've also billed some of the larger wrestlers as weighing lighter than they actually do...the Big Show is actually over 550 pounds, not 500 pounds.
its strange they had this on sky movies, i would have thought it would have been on sky sports!! Did all WWF events used to be on sky movies in those days?? I started watching in 1993 when they were on sky sports
haha I loved when piper wrestled but he was really funny when he broadcasted. lol those retards screwed up the theme music to throw the ring announcer off
Yeah I remember this fault whilst watching it live on Sky Movies, I bet vince went nuts after lol. It wasn't the ring announcers fault, poor man lol, where is that ring announcer anyway, bring him back!
Mel Phillips will never be back. He had a fetish for boy's feet which was part of the infamous ring boy scandal that also involved Pat Patterson and Terry Garvin.
oy vey!!! I was gonna mention that too about Mel Phillips.
Bret Hart's book "Hitman My Real Life In The Cartoon World Of Wrestling" either about Mel Phillips or Terry Garvin that he befriend one of the boys in the locker room and told one of the boys something naughty long story short...word got around the back about him and what he wanted to do or has done I'll get back to you on what was said lol
Kudos to every British wrestling fan. You guys always provide such hot crowds and can make even the most lackluster matchup better because of the heat you provide.
I wonder if they edited it out for the VHS release. But anything can go wrong...LIVE! I remembr at Backlash 2006 when Carlito just beat Chris Master's, and aria was interviewig someone, and she said u must be up set that Carlito just lost
Loved this PPV I still have it on VHS.

The "Bret Hart music" was also Neidhart's at the time (I'm sure you know that but you'll be surprised at the number of people who don't).
I've seen these kinds of mistakes at house shows, but yeah, it's extremely rare to see something like that on a televised event.

Good point.

It is available on both VHS and on DVD.
The DVD is on the "Tagged Classics" series with Battle Royal At The Albert Hall (which was on 13 October 1991).

You mean Wrestlemania 3; he filled 93,173 people there!

93,173 is a made up figure by WWE. It was actually 78,000

Again 80,103 was a made up figure by WWE. The actual attendance for Wrestlemania 23 was 74,867

78,000 or 93,173; either way, Wrestlemania III still holds the indoor attendance record for a wrestling event.
