@alexandrescooter if american things suck.,then get off the computer and internet..your home computer was built by americans...and so was the internet...and so are alot of firetrucks..so if you ever needed a firetruck at your house..they wont be showing up in any import truck thats for sure
i will start out by sayin i prefer FORD. but really, i will not be crawling under my pickup and over torquing all the bolts. this test is bogus because the bolts will not be over torqued during the life of the vehicle. proving how much over torque they can withstand doesn't really prove anything. kinda like the kirby vacuum salesman that vaccums up bullets to prove how powerful the vac is. does anywone reallly need a vac that can vacuum up bullets?
so i just went out and checked my 2005 chevy silverado 1500. removed it and it looked about the same size as the ford bolt demonstrated here. in addition to this, the chevrolet dealer closest to my home displayed this same exact test. ford vs. dodge vs chevy. chevy displayed slightly better results than the ford. in my opinion they were so close it doesnt really matter. dodge came in 3rd but not that far behind. i was told nissan was even less strength than the tundra.
ok now if fords are so bad then hows come they never took oboma cash when it was handed out? and i wouldnt trust a bolt that small to tow a lawn mower let alone a 10k load leave it to a japan auto manufacture to use a new kind of steel called rice infused. i think the boteme line is to buy amrican and keep the jobs hear in the states wear thry mater the most
@thunderbird948 GM was bailed out by the government, true. but it wasn't a hand out. it was a loan. which was paid back (including interest) a few years early. The U.S. treasury does own shares of GM, but they also own shares in Chrysler AND FORD. And for the record Ford did not recieve a government bailout. instead they got a loan from different banks. Chrysler teamed up with Fiat. Ford took a bunch of loans. GM took government loans.
@adfasdfasdfluy now i didnt mean to piss you off or offend any one all i was saying is the government shouldnt step in and help out auto makers unless its 100% needed to be i was just stating my opinion thats all american made are the best an will always be the best
@thunderbird948 im not pissed off or anything. i just wanted to point out that the big three all took money to help stay afloat. fords just wasnt from the government. Automobiles are the United States biggest export. with GM gone, we would be in a lot more debt to other countries than we are now. Not to mention there are some people out there that would buy a toyota, nissan or something if they couldnt buy a chevy or a ram
@adfasdfasdfluy so for that reason, i support the bailouts. i didnt originally but i did my homework and saw that its vital. besides, GM is my preference.
Is this pathetic or what.... find the oldest guy in the room to "break" the Toyota bolt... LOL Let's put Chevy's name on the line in 2 separate videos and not actually "bash" on them, what gives?
boy, how desperate is Ford lol. put a 10k trailer behind them all day and that will be the test. not a f'n bolt. Tundra 5.7 outshines fords antique 5.4 all day everday
No, I didn't miss the point. It's just my opinion, but if ford was so great and reliable people would have not stopped buying their vehicles at some point in the last 20 years. My father loved fords and their ideas, but when you keep standing on the side of the road, your opinion might change and it did.
Never new pickup trucks were race cars. They dont need to be fast. A pickup truck is all about power and control. And Ford must have really weak engines being that they outsell every other pickup truck made and have the most towing. Imagine how weak the competitors engines are!
When did Toyota start using bolts on their trucks? I thought they just used zip ties to put their trucks together! Not to mention the Toyota frame will rust in 2 peices! Toyota fucking sucks!
chevy isnt a competitor to ford toyota was but not any more since there recals, and dont get me wrong chevys are good for racing but not for work or towing!
what happened to good ole NM not lbs/ft of torque?! I know it's America but gets annoying when everyone else has a 10 based system and we use a system that just says FUCK IT lol!!! Awkward test though hope the material is the same and do a rust test while they are at it!!
Wow what a bunch of bullshit. I would love to see some real engineers do some real results. Whoops lets pretend to change it to foot pounds? What do you think a torque wrench measures in. These idiots are in insult to mindless consumers real mechanics around the globe. Then a guy asks him a question and he doesn't even know what materiel the bolts are made of. If your going to put on a misleading pretend bashing you should at least know your rehearsed material.
Ford uses more 10.9 vs Chevy 9.8 which is hardness in metric. Both Mustang GT an F150 4.6 V8...Ford = Reliability. Owned GM and Ford. Like Both I just prefer the Ford over GM.I would never buy a weak, riveted, rusty Toyota. They're amateurs at building trucks...Like Hyundai and KIA for cars.LOL
Seriously the dumbest test ive seen to date. Whats tougher f350 or toyota tacoma may as well do that comparison hehe. Toyota can haul that 3k payload dragging the ground so can big truck.
Man ford has had some junkers. Big deal you have bigger bolt today yooo yippy im so special. Its the whole package that makes a truck. Your getting laid in yota your picking up hoochy in ford.
Oh. I guess that makes it legitimate then. I'll post a video and call it, DomesticPowered09 takes it in the butt from a horse, and, since that's what it's titled, it'll be true!
toyota has more bolts to spread tesion duuh if anybody wants to buy a car do the research yourself thats where you do ge t the truth becuase everybodys gonna make there truck look better =P
Pop rivets for the frame of the Toyota VS High Strength Welding for the Ford,GM,and Dodge. Toyota should stick to what they know the Bland Camry and The gay Prius...
Anyone know what the breaking stength is of a bolt the same size as the tundra's being a grade 8 bolt? Four of those holding your bed down is more than you ever need. Over building might be impressive, and can convince people to buy it, its really useless.
Something to think about here: Are some things overbuilt? Do you really need that type of strength in a truck bed bolt? How many bolts are in a truck bed? Will the bolts ever fail because they will have this type of torsional strain put on them? The answer to this is no!! You start adding unnesecessary weight and you will inadvertently affect things like fuel consumption. Come on car makers, start focusing on things like this and pull your heads out. Or go bankrupt, the choice is yours.
ya it important when you get rear ended , and when you load your truck with concrete block and they shift to one side and torque out your box ,,, ill take the ford for work any day , because it will take me home after work ,,, and there is eight in my fords box how many in your toyota ?
Your a young guy I'm assuming, or a really ignorant old fucker. I don't have a Toyota pickup for one thing, I drive a dodge powerwagon and it has 8 bolts holding the bed down. I will tell you that it doesn't have the huge ass bolts that the new ford is using because it isn't necessary. I guarantee when someone rearends me they will sure the fuck know they hit something and I will be buying a new bumper. My question is still why not improve on something like fuel economy? Bigger bolts are stupid.

JD Power seems to think the Tundra is great for just about everything. They gave the Tundra the highest ratings for Quality and Dependability. The F150 got significantly lower ratings (as did the Superduty's) than the Tundra for both these ratings.
Tundra more American than F-150,Dodge Ram Or GM trucks. They have more parts built in America, and the trucks are 100% built here can't buy a tundra built in mexico or any other country but you can buy a F-150 built in mexico, or a dodge built in canada, or a chevy/gmc built in China(but not for long).
Obviously another video Ford made to prove something that really doesn't prove anything if you have half a brain.
haha.. loser.. that shitty ford engineer/ whoever said the toyota was measured at 200 ft pounds of torque when it failed.
but that volunteer kept going till it was above 330.. then the pinhead loser worker from ford came over and tampered the reading.. and reset it to 220.. then they said it broke!! bunch of losers..
but the ford bolt which was bigger and thicker could hold on to only 390 max..
ford id ok but very similar to toilet paper: use and throw away.. :P

what a stupid demonstration, Everyone thats living in the real world knows the Toyota is more durable and longer lasting This may appeal to the less informed truck buyer, Believe me I learned the HARD way repairing my American made junk over and over! Look for the video "destroying a toyota" it demonstrates the reality.
I agree this one of the stupidest tests out there... Knowing Ford that bolt is going to rust out before the Toyota's bolt snaps... why put bigger bolts if you don't actually need them...2009-10 F150 is the heaviest truck of the bunch...that is not all that great for acceleration, efficiency...and other things..
yeah that is kinda bad, but the funny thing is, when you get people saying "chevy is better, toyota is better" the sad thing is, is the f150 hauls more in the bed and in towing, but might i say, the ford is the heaviest. kind of sad that chevy cant match, or be better
zarplata1.....Sorry but Toyota's are know to have more rust problems than anybody else. But keep believing the Tundra is better, the facts say otherwise.
So what is this ford dude trying to prove? That your spring bolts are going to be constantly torqued down while you are driving? Jesus what a fucking genius.
Indeed it is but the dude is a moron trying to sell a truck by trying to strip the fuck out of a bolt, what a moron...What bolt continues to tighten as you are drivin' down the road? Fucking stupid mother fucker.
Who's the stupid one? Your filthy mouth is pretty startling evidence of who is really stupid.
If you knew anything about trucks you would know this is important in a truck.
Toyota TSB-0325-08
TOYota TSB-0115-08
Toyota: rear driveshaft/propeller shaft clunk/thunk noise. Some owners of 4wd equipped 2007-2008 model year tundra vehicles may experience a clunk/thunk noise from the rear of the vehicle.
Here I was thinking these things never have problems. -Right.
my uncle has owned all of the new midsized trucks and he liked the acceleration of the tundra but he still prefers his CHEVY over the tundra and loves his FORD more than his chevy.
You can do the bolt test, you can do the frame test, or any other test but one thing is for sure Toyota isn't asking for help from you government like Ford and Chevy. I own a GMC and my nest truck is going to be ONLY a TOYOTA!!!!
I could never understand why my grandma's Ford and my mom's GMC used all metric bolts, while my Dodge is all standard (only exception being, of all things, the nuts to hold the door handles on are 10mm)
Yes, the Tundra has won half ton truck of the year with it's 6 speed transmission, highest acceleration and payload. I'm about to exchange my 2002 Sierra and was very hyped up with the Tundra's reviews. But as I looked it over at the dealership, the parts just weren't Toyota quality like expected. The truck felt flimsy, and was TERRIBLE in snow covered parking lots (with 4x4on). I still don't know what to go for, but the tundra, although powerful, is NOT a workhorse, so it's off my list.
Here's the thing, so many people here open their mouths when they have nothing to back it up to try to prove a false point. TOYOTA is unquestionably the top notch company who makes the most reliable/affordable vehicles. BUT, everyone who has done their homework on trucks know that their trucks are an exception. Despite what you see on paper, the new Tundra is plagued with problems. Faulty tailgates, cheap/thin sheet metal, premature rust, cheap interior, no limited slit, traction issues, etc
what the idiot in the video fails to tell people is that toyota uses at least 3 "weaker" bolts for every 1 "stronger" bolt that ford uses. why? so if one bolt fails it doesn't compromise structural integrity of the whole truck.
Always look at the BIG picture, who is making money and why........the japs EARN their spot as #1. On the other hand I have to spend my TAX dollars to bail out GM and Chrysler that's going to fail by 2009 end. My money spent on CEO's ...and other poorly managed crap. As I've said many times make something that can fly, if it's not making you money, you're HISTORY!
why should i have to spend my tax dollars to bail out banks? detroit is asking for little by comparison and they employ far more jobs. the thousands of jobs that would be lost would cost the govt that many more welfare checks for example.
This test does not validate anything, it's just a worthless video. The bolts are design with a factor of safety, and can more than serve its pourpose in tension or shear. Each bolt can exceed 15,000lbs in tension (1/2 inch)when tested using an MTS machine. Ford you need to make money, not break bolts, try to compete with toyota's quality assurance and control. Then and only then, when you start making MONEY, you can shout out to the world, the Japs will teach you some thing called "KAIZEN" learn
this video is stupid. thats testing torsion, it should be testing tensile, and even at that. you dont need bolts that strong, its stupidity. has there ever been a documented case were a tundra bolt has sheared off under normal use??? i doubt it.
VIDEOVIRGINS...I have never replace my 1head gasket 1timing chain 1 clutch 1 carrier bearing. 1 rear. not bad for 353000 miles on a 1 tontoyota. not trying to move a house just making money...that is to bad...i replace tires oil air filters spark plugs 3 clutches shocks....never bearing or rear end or head gasket...i thought your toyota was more durable???
its not in the bolt its in the desing that gives u your strenth. imagine having to take that bolt out on the side of the road god for bid u break down. not very efficient ford. when i want a truck thats got to make me the bucks instead of the girls i choose a yota. all i do is put tires on it and change the oil once or twice a year. all in all 1head gasket 1timing chain 1 clutch 1 carrier bearing. 1 rear. not bad for 353000 miles on a 1 tontoyota. not trying to move a house just making money.
I dont know about any of you but did you realize that the lady couldn't count worth a shit. She must of been representing Toyota. Proof that Ford is the best.
i think there was mis understanding, i was talking about all of the big 3 in general. ford out tows the tundra. dodge's hemi is a much better engine than toyotas, plus dodge diesels have cummins- probably the best diesel engine around. Chevy has much better interior than toyota does. all around the big 3 trucks are built alot stronger than the tundra. its weak, breaking camshafts, weak tailgates that bend and snap, terrible vibration on highway or offroad, interior malfunctions, false mileage
well lets see, towing capacity goes to ford, id save the hemi is a better engine than any toyota engine and as for torque toyota might win but if you want real torque buy a diesel. after this year toyota will no longer win in the torque area either. ford, dodge will soon pass up toyota. the tundras glory days are over for good. another attempt and another failure for toyota. congratualtions!
actually by 09 chevy will have surpassed toyota in torque so will ford. chevy is realeasing a 6.2 404ft lbs of torque. adios toyota. and ford will be realeasing more torque as well. looks like toyotas glory days are over. sucks for you if you drive one of those pieces of crap.
lol and you know what happens when a company such as toyota has grown up building shitty little 4 banger motors with no torque decides they want to build a huge motor with the most torque? they have things like camshafts snap, u joints snap, and torque converter problems. whats next down the line? rear ends? trannys? axles? the tundra is new and has yet to prove itself and it doesnt look very promising to the trained eye.
avansc I hate to say it son but you are full of shit. In order for an 07 Tundra to have 180,000 miles on it your dad would of had to drive 260 miles a day for 700 consecutive days. Furthermore the Tundra does NOT consistently get 20 MPG, even on the highway if you were to go 65 MPH you could POSSIBLY get 20 MPG assuming it was the spring/summer and there was no wind. Also in 180,000 miles of wear that is a LOT more that would be done other than oil and filter, that is ridiculous.
This test is stupid, what is the bolt used for? Does the bolt require more tensil strength, or does is it require more shear strehgth. . . there are many uses for different types of bolts. Is that bolt for the alternator or is it for the tow/reciever hitch. There is a big difference! Toyota uses 14mm Shank bolts on average and they have stood the test of time. Dont fix it if it isn't broke. Bigger is better most often but not needed.
you must not know a thing about Nascar becuase its called the craftsman truck series. and it doesnt matter what model "car" or truck you have in nascar all the engines are the same. its just for advertisement reasons they put them on the cars. the driver and pit crew are what wins races not the label on a car. and i think i will stick to chevy or any big 3 over your POS tundra.
you are a moron, you think the difference engine in nascar do different stuff? ALL off the engine are dynos to be within about 5-10hp of each other. there literally is no difference in hp in any of the engine. Dodges actually have the most HP in Nascar. unfortunatly the toyota engines were caught cheating and had ran with 20 more hp. they were heavely penalized. Do no tell me i know nothing about nascar becuase i have been watching it my entire life. by same engine i mean same equality idiot.
and you know what else is pretty funny now that you want to talk nascar- My favorite driver Tony Stewart- is leaving JGR, a team he has been with for years simply becuase he wants to drive a chevy. thats pretty embaressing. nascar is an american sport no room for foreign advertisment is needed.
People who buy vehicles from the greediest of all manufacturers Toyota who has the most recalls in the industry the past two years are stupid. Another example of Cheap cheap cheap from toyota. You forgot one problem tool. Toyota not only uses smaller bolts, they use about 33% or more less of them than in a Ford truck. Bigger AND MORE is better. Toyota spends the LEAST per vehicle to produce in the industry and profits THE MOST per vehicle while having the worst labor practices in the busn.
Not true. Theres no unions at all at Toyota in the states, the only unions you'll find are at Toyota in Japan but that is it. And they pay their employees very generously unlike the big 3!
The unions ore only good for workers when they are neede if the company has good pay, benefits etc... without the need for a union, seems to me that company may be a better company to work, Seems like the they might give a damn, and not just loook at you as if your just a number.
the salary of a toyota employee would not even compare to one of the big esp. Ford. that is why they are loosing so much money because of the pay roll
Man i am not tryin to brag but i work for a union company (u.p.s.) and make close to that of a ford employee and they are no where near the point of goin bankrupt, nor are they even loosen money, still showin strong profits, and they arent nearly as big a company. Times like these the wages arent helpin there problem but dumb financial moves, spending the employees retirement fund and huge corporate bonuses are what put them in the shape they are in not the unions. i dont know about toyota pay
My wife is from Dearborn MI. and a lot of her family works for Ford, none of which make that much money maybe with overtime or maybe in a different job (especially just workin a 40 hour week) than the majority but i dont believe thats the norm. There are a few guys at my center that makes upward of 100,000 to 120,000 a year but thats not everyone, the average is probably around 85-90,000 a year and that includes overtime.
every test i hav seen on the tundra hasnt been good all they did was take a 350 hmmm wer did they get the idea for that motor and put it in a piece of shit that cant do anythin but go fast on the road. real american cars like ford and gm kik asian ass all day
frds bolt is bigger, and better. along with the rest of the truck. and for anyone who says trucks never have a recall on bolts, 4X4's always need a stronger frame. you never really tow the max payload but isn't it nice to know that you CAN? over and over again? i'[d take the f150 any day.
How do they go from 330 to 260 on the Tundra bolt?? aparently they make the Ford bolt look really good. They probably made that "reset" on purpose. For the toyota bolt to be that much smaller than the ford bolt and the ford bolt is at 390 that sucks for ford. The people watching this in the video are dumb and dont know a thing. Overall before the reset tundra was at 330 and ford broke at 390. Also it took alot longer to break the toyota bolt than the ford..hmmm wounder if this was made at ford?
Did you know Henry Ford was a jew hating bastard. He bought a newspaper to spread anti semitism and won over the heart of of a famous nazi. Adolph Hitler and Henry Ford became friends and believed in alot of the same things. Hmmm Hitler's volkswagon is the equivalent to the model t and is the best selling car in automotive history. Sounds oddly simillar.
WTF does something that happened 60 + years ago have to do with a bolt test? This is a comment pane NOT a message board. Your supposed to comment the video! Please find another web site to spread your message of separatism. Let people who really want to comment the video do so.
Again, another fcking pointless, dumbass ford ad! Its actually quite sad. Instead of actually building a better truck, they focus on the stupid shit to try and prove their current truck is better. I def. agree with ikeyballs! doesnt matter if the ford bolt is stronger, if the toyota has 2x as many, it wouldnt matter. Again useless shit from ford
dont worry, toyota is made by chinks its pos its gay its cheap it has weak frames it has weak and shit engines its gay again and ford beats all trucks again too bad
also, its interesting to note the ford bolt SNAPPED while the toyota just gave away...diff grades of steel, perhaps? which would you rather have..hmm idk
if toyota has more bolts than ford..on the same part toyota parts woujld be stronger. also if it the ford bolt was 2x stronger and toyota had 2x the bolts, the toyota would be better since the forces would be distributed better, with smaller holes in the material its holding together.
you learn this shit in mech, engineering material sciences..
every ford we have ever owned never had any problems except maintinence stuff(tires, wipers, oil, filters)it depends on how you take care of them. i love my ford and would never trade it in for anything else.
I agree I have an older ford and I never had any problems with leaf spring bolts breaking. They used the lighter weight bolts in the truck I drive so why would they decide bigger heavier bolts are neccessary know? most trucks know are used to pick up groceries and kids from soccer practice. I think they should go for a lighter and more fuel efficient line for those people
This is my point the only people this is going to fool are the people who take there trucks in for oil changes and the full service gas station. those trucks are the ones that should be built lighter with more fuel economy. if the truck never leaves pavment you don't need a 3/4" bolt to hold the leaf springs.
by the way I have a 1 ton ford with small leaf spring bolts and I tow a 5th wheel trailer loaded with 14,000 lbs of equipment and still have never broke a spring bolt. Plus there test is showing torque pressure where a leaf spring doesn't see this kind of force.
agree.just becouse its bigger don't mean its stronger. see bolts loads are no measured at the head but in the middle.you can run what ever bolt you want as long as the center load is high it will never break unless the load is bigger then the rating.
wpst555 ur a dumbass ford did not invent the car, and secondly, does anybody know how many bolts on the tundra vs the ford. Because if there were more bolts on the tundra it would overcome their lack of strength.
Hey cmac, you got something to say, reply it to me dont bash me on this site. And Henry Ford invented the car, and the assembly line that it is built on. I have had Jap cars and had nothing but problems on all of them, but yet all my American cars were great, in fact a Ford saved my life.
Yea, i my parents have a CLS 550, its a great car, but if your trying to say that Mercedes invented the car, they did not, they played a crucial role in the process of it all. Henry Ford invented the automobile, and the mass production of it.
FORD DID NOT! Invent the car or the assembly line he simply made a more efficient one.
Mercedes Benz DID invent the car, look it up check your facts! Ford was founded in 1904 and benz was founded in 1885 and they made the worlds First car in 1886.
Mercedes invented the car, ford didn't, end of subject.
who is the best selling need i say no more besides the toy has a 6 speed automatic and might get 18 to 20 mpg and ford and gm get that with a four speed automatic with 3:08 gears
.... and they spent most of the video time trying to break a toyota bolt that is less than half the size of the ford bolt

what happened to good ole NM not lbs/ft of torque?! I know it's America but gets annoying when everyone else has a 10 based system and we use a system that just says FUCK IT lol!!! Awkward test though hope the material is the same and do a rust test while they are at it!!
Ainaloa 1 year ago

Anyone know what the breaking stength is of a bolt the same size as the tundra's being a grade 8 bolt? Four of those holding your bed down is more than you ever need. Over building might be impressive, and can convince people to buy it, its really useless.

NitroGadvRules 2 years ago
Something to think about here: Are some things overbuilt? Do you really need that type of strength in a truck bed bolt? How many bolts are in a truck bed? Will the bolts ever fail because they will have this type of torsional strain put on them? The answer to this is no!! You start adding unnesecessary weight and you will inadvertently affect things like fuel consumption. Come on car makers, start focusing on things like this and pull your heads out. Or go bankrupt, the choice is yours.
lmberish 2 years ago
ya it important when you get rear ended , and when you load your truck with concrete block and they shift to one side and torque out your box ,,, ill take the ford for work any day , because it will take me home after work ,,, and there is eight in my fords box how many in your toyota ?
lesterclaypool1 2 years ago 2
Your a young guy I'm assuming, or a really ignorant old fucker. I don't have a Toyota pickup for one thing, I drive a dodge powerwagon and it has 8 bolts holding the bed down. I will tell you that it doesn't have the huge ass bolts that the new ford is using because it isn't necessary. I guarantee when someone rearends me they will sure the fuck know they hit something and I will be buying a new bumper. My question is still why not improve on something like fuel economy? Bigger bolts are stupid.
lmberish 2 years ago
They did improve fuel economy for the 2009 model. And the fuel economy numbers for the f150's engines surpass that of the toyota's.

Tundra more American than F-150,Dodge Ram Or GM trucks. haha.. loser.. that shitty ford engineer/ whoever said the toyota was measured at 200 ft pounds of torque when it failed.
but that volunteer kept going till it was above 330.. then the pinhead loser worker from ford came over and tampered the reading.. and reset it to 220.. then they said it broke!! bunch of losers..

I agree this one of the stupidest tests out there... Knowing Ford that bolt is going to rust out before the Toyota's bolt snaps... why put bigger bolts if you don't actually need them...2009-10 F150 is the heaviest truck of the bunch...that is not all that great for acceleration, efficiency...and other things..
zarplata1 2 years ago
yeah that is kinda bad, but the funny thing is, when you get people saying "chevy is better, toyota is better" the sad thing is, is the f150 hauls more in the bed and in towing, but might i say, the ford is the heaviest. kind of sad that chevy cant match, or be better
racemann92 2 years ago

Toyota TSB-0325-08
TOYota TSB-0115-08
Toyota: rear driveshaft/propeller shaft clunk/thunk noise. Some owners of 4wd equipped 2007-2008 model year tundra vehicles may experience a clunk/thunk noise from the rear of the vehicle.

I beleive that the tundra was twice as reliable and better overall untill the 05 tundra came out most likely cuz it was made in the USA in 05
XX35TZXX 3 years ago
Yes, the Tundra has won half ton truck of the year with it's 6 speed transmission, highest acceleration and payload. I'm about to exchange my 2002 Sierra and was very hyped up with the Tundra's reviews. But as I looked it over at the dealership, the parts just weren't Toyota quality like expected. The truck felt flimsy, and was TERRIBLE in snow covered parking lots (with 4x4on). I still don't know what to go for, but the tundra, although powerful, is NOT a workhorse, so it's off my list.
SPIKEmIlLeNnIuM 3 years ago
Here's the thing, so many people here open their mouths when they have nothing to back it up to try to prove a false point. TOYOTA is unquestionably the top notch company who makes the most reliable/affordable vehicles. BUT, everyone who has done their homework on trucks know that their trucks are an exception. Despite what you see on paper, the new Tundra is plagued with problems. Faulty tailgates, cheap/thin sheet metal, premature rust, cheap interior, no limited slit, traction issues, etc
SPIKEmIlLeNnIuM 3 years ago
what the idiot in the video fails to tell people is that toyota uses at least 3 "weaker" bolts for every 1 "stronger" bolt that ford uses. why? so if one bolt fails it doesn't compromise structural integrity of the whole truck.

Snooster17 3 years ago
thank you captain obvious- im sure everyone here knows already that ford doesnt have a hemi and dodge does.
BassPro1688 3 years ago
i think there was mis understanding, i was talking about all of the big 3 in general. ford out tows the tundra. dodge's hemi is a much better engine than toyotas, plus dodge diesels have cummins- probably the best diesel engine around. Chevy has much better interior than toyota does. all around the big 3 trucks are built alot stronger than the tundra. its weak, breaking camshafts, weak tailgates that bend and snap, terrible vibration on highway or offroad, interior malfunctions, false mileage
BassPro1688 3 years ago
id like to see them compare the engine, towing capacity, and torque. what the hell are the doing. ford sucks
Snooster17 3 years ago
well lets see, towing capacity goes to ford, id save the hemi is a better engine than any toyota engine and as for torque toyota might win but if you want real torque buy a diesel. after this year toyota will no longer win in the torque area either. ford, dodge will soon pass up toyota. the tundras glory days are over for good. another attempt and another failure for toyota. congratualtions!
BassPro1688 3 years ago
lol, "can't beat the TUNDRA, then go DIESEL...will get THEM, now."

DRIFTR 3 years ago
actually by 09 chevy will have surpassed toyota in torque so will ford. chevy is realeasing a 6.2 404ft lbs of torque. adios toyota. and ford will be realeasing more torque as well. looks like toyotas glory days are over. sucks for you if you drive one of those pieces of crap.
BassPro1688 3 years ago
lol and you know what happens when a company such as toyota has grown up building shitty little 4 banger motors with no torque decides they want to build a huge motor with the most torque? they have things like camshafts snap, u joints snap, and torque converter problems. whats next down the line? rear ends? trannys? axles? the tundra is new and has yet to prove itself and it doesnt look very promising to the trained eye.
jeffac500 3 years ago
are you are trained i assume??
dads 07tundra has 180K on already. no ploblems, no leaks. still gets 20MPG highway. no major overall, just oil. and oil filter..
i think that proven it.
i have a little 4 banger conquest with over 700k on it. just oil changes. same exhaust, never got a hole. no leaks.
but i guess its just shit to right.
avansc 3 years ago
avansc I hate to say it son but you are full of shit. Also in 180,000 miles of wear that is a LOT more that would be done other than oil and filter, that is ridiculous.

guinmaan 3 years ago 4
This test is stupid, what is the bolt used for? Does the bolt require more tensil strength, or does is it require more shear strehgth. . . there are many uses for different types of bolts. Is that bolt for the alternator or is it for the tow/reciever hitch. There is a big difference! Toyota uses 14mm Shank bolts on average and they have stood the test of time. Dont fix it if it isn't broke. Bigger is better most often but not needed.
aptoyota 3 years ago
In trucks - you either want a "toy" or a truck. If your a wannabe trucker, Toyota is fine and attractive. But for work - Ford rules.
Anyway you cut it, Ford Tough is a measurable difference.
rainbow4jd 3 years ago 3
no you got it wrong, if you want a Toyota, then you want something thats dominating in the craftsmanship series and Trophy trucks, and now in Nascar.
DRIFTR 3 years ago
you must not know a thing about Nascar becuase its called the craftsman truck series. and it doesnt matter what model "car" or truck you have in nascar all the engines are the same. its just for advertisement reasons they put them on the cars. the driver and pit crew are what wins races not the label on a car. and i think i will stick to chevy or any big 3 over your POS tundra.
BassPro1688 3 years ago
lmao? same engines? now you fucking know jack shit about NASCAR.
what a tool, same engines so a FORD v8 is in THE CHEV's AND DODGES? wow buddy
DRIFTR 3 years ago
you are a moron, you think the difference engine in nascar do different stuff? ALL off the engine are dynos to be within about 5-10hp of each other. there literally is no difference in hp in any of the engine. Dodges actually have the most HP in Nascar. unfortunatly the toyota engines were caught cheating and had ran with 20 more hp. they were heavely penalized. Do no tell me i know nothing about nascar becuase i have been watching it my entire life. by same engine i mean same equality idiot.
BassPro1688 3 years ago
and you know what else is pretty funny now that you want to talk nascar- My favorite driver Tony Stewart- is leaving JGR, a team he has been with for years simply becuase he wants to drive a chevy. thats pretty embaressing. nascar is an american sport no room for foreign advertisment is needed.
BassPro1688 3 years ago
well i give him respect for that,
if hes been driving it his whole life, then i think he wants to stick with it.
no harm in that, GOOD MOVE
DRIFTR 3 years ago
People who buy vehicles from the greediest of all manufacturers Toyota who has the most recalls in the industry the past two years are stupid. Another example of Cheap cheap cheap from toyota. You forgot one problem tool. Toyota not only uses smaller bolts, they use about 33% or more less of them than in a Ford truck. Bigger AND MORE is better. Toyota spends the LEAST per vehicle to produce in the industry and profits THE MOST per vehicle while having the worst labor practices in the busn.
guinmaan 3 years ago 8
Not true. Theres no unions at all at Toyota in the states, the only unions you'll find are at Toyota in Japan but that is it. And they pay their employees very generously unlike the big 3!
Sanosuke004 3 years ago
What does the union have to do with labor practices? Unions are good for the workers, just not good for the employer.
havocs29 3 years ago 3
The unions ore only good for workers when they are neede if the company has good pay, benefits etc... without the need for a union, seems to me that company may be a better company to work, Seems like the they might give a damn, and not just loook at you as if your just a number.
fourwheelin83 3 years ago 2
the salary of a toyota employee would not even compare to one of the big esp. Ford. that is why they are loosing so much money because of the pay roll
mattyy675 3 years ago
Man i am not tryin to brag but i work for a union company (u.p.s.) and make close to that of a ford employee and they are no where near the point of goin bankrupt, nor are they even loosen money, still showin strong profits, and they arent nearly as big a company. Times like these the wages arent helpin there problem but dumb financial moves, spending the employees retirement fund and huge corporate bonuses are what put them in the shape they are in not the unions. i dont know about toyota pay

supersnot4 3 years ago 6
How do they go from 330 to 260 on the Tundra bolt?? aparently they make the Ford bolt look really good. They probably made that "reset" on purpose. For the toyota bolt to be that much smaller than the ford bolt and the ford bolt is at 390 that sucks for ford. The people watching this in the video are dumb and dont know a thing. Overall before the reset tundra was at 330 and ford broke at 390. Also it took alot longer to break the toyota bolt than the ford..hmmm wounder if this was made at ford?

if toyota has more bolts than ford..on the same part toyota parts woujld be stronger. also if it the ford bolt was 2x stronger and toyota had 2x the bolts, the toyota would be better since the forces would be distributed better, with smaller holes in the material its holding together.

Only dumb rednecks would think the strength of an individual bolt matters for overall strength.

agree.just becouse its bigger don't mean its stronger. see bolts loads are no measured at the head but in the middle.you can run what ever bolt you want as long as the center load is high it will never break unless the load is bigger then the rating.

wpst555 ur a dumbass ford did not invent the car, and secondly, does anybody know how many bolts on the tundra vs the ford. Because if there were more bolts on the tundra it would overcome their lack of strength.

Hey cmac, you got something to say, reply it to me dont bash me on this site. And Henry Ford invented the car, and the assembly line that it is built on. I have had Jap cars and had nothing but problems on all of them, but yet all my American cars were great, in fact a Ford saved my life.

ever heard of mercedes, maybe next time you should check your facts
cmac2992 4 years ago
Yea, i my parents have a CLS 550, its a great car, but if your trying to say that Mercedes invented the car, they did not, they played a crucial role in the process of it all. Henry Ford invented the automobile, and the mass production of it.

FORD DID NOT! Invent the car or the assembly line he simply made a more efficient one.
Mercedes Benz DID invent the car, look it up check your facts! Ford was founded in 1904 and benz was founded in 1885 and they made the worlds First car in 1886.
Mercedes invented the car, ford didn't, end of subject.
