They use the other engine as lead when they brought all the new cars to MA.
Rail roads don't care what in front as long as it does runs.

Is this crossing the one at the Cannan/West Stockbridge, MA border?

Yes This is the crossing at the truck stop. and the Mass border is just a couple of mile to the east..

1st time I ever over laid over at this truckstop... I was one truck away from the tracks... warm-ish night, shut the truck off rolled the windows down and went to bed, not knowing about the tracks...
