  • god this guy looks like david tennant

  • @imita01 - Your comments remind me how ignorant I used to be.

1-Look at scales, music theories as maps in a huge country/city. It will save you a lot of time/energy and you will become very creative. Without that you will "eat bread and water" (play G,C) your whole life and your guitar will end up in the basement sooner or later:-).

2-Hendrix, as a poor kid, learned things from a lot of people, SRV learned from his brother and other people. They didnt become great by ignoring m. knowledge.

  • guys cum face when he plays :D

  • If it helps, I'm currently working on GuitarJamTracks(.)com

I'm gathering a collection of free guitar backing tracks created by different people and organizing them by key, tempo, suggested scales. I would love to get any feedback I can get so I can make the site more useful.

  • That was so cool got my guitar last week got to have a go at that man thanks

  • Holy shit, you can go past the 12th fret? I just believed anything past the 12th was a myth...

  • Jordan. Scales are just a series of notes on an istrument that sound good together, people use them becuase it gives different intervals of notes which help to organize the players ideas when using that instrument , And scales are boringto use at first hut learn them, and learn the minor

    Minor an pentatonic

  • why would people want to learn the scales, like do they help people make better solos and guitar tunes or something and if they do, how do they help.

    please reply

  • @JordanKing1995 knowing my scales help with soloing and improv as well as great practice

  • I play the major scales as well as the natural, melodic, and harmonic minors on piano and to a lesser extent, guitar. Music is aural and each scale has a mood or feeling attached to it. Music is also visual in learning the patterns for each scale or mood with my fingers. The scale teaches you every note that will 'sound right' when you play. Anyone can play the right notes if they know where they are, regardless of actually hearing it.

  • @jexicomexico, why would you be watching a video on guitar scales if your deaf Beethoven?

  • I ALSO WONDER THAT!!! Do DEAF ppl play the guitar, a blind OK but a deaf one? No offense, I am really wondering why...

  • Thanks for having closed captioning. They're a little off, but deaf people using the internet really appreciate it, even if we're a small minority!

  • @jexicomexico how do you play guitar if your deaf

  • after making so many mistakes, you'd think he'd do the video over again, but....

  • im sorry but that is an ugly les paul

  • Give the man a break, he knows his stuff!!

  • thank you

  • This guys really sucks cock at guitar

  • google guitar fret board notes in google images and you will see all the frettable notes on a guitar

    @

    dYinGinFeRnO

  • HEYYYYYYY you're awful

  • horrible

  • The way he knows is that he's taken all the notes from the scales and played them all over the fret boards but he hasnt explained that.

  • he didn't look too impressed with himself at the end

  • i'll bet!

  • thanks man! i cant wait to get this down

  • nice scale *sigh lol

  • haha I love it when ppl buy a guitar and as soon as they learn a scale they think theyre an expert and should be teaching other people how to play lol YOU SUCK

  • horrible

  • brutal.

  • This guy is not an expert. LOL

    Its still good for beginners...

I love how he even messed up on the E ionian scale lol. GF

  • You are, by far, the most retarded dick head I've ever seen on the internet.

Oh, and that "solo", was utterly terrible.

  • fuck u hes just teaching a fucking scale and gave fucking example outa no where.

  • Gotta learn scales for soloing, most solos are built on scales... People who don't know scales and who call them "BORING" will not become very good

  • The trick is to learn scales on a piano first. Once you realize how boring it is to play scales on a piano, playing scales on the guitar is incredibly fun.

  • lol so true. unless u'r playing scales in the asian style of music, which is a bit funner.

  • @terroristofmeh hi man,can u tell me what a scale is and what is the use of them and how exactly are solos "built" on scales, and how many scales are there approximately, because i don't know any scales and i don't know where to learn them so plz if u can be of any help private message me and tell me

  • @terroristofmeh can you tell me whatever you replied to CYBERDUDE95 because im just starting to learn the scales.

    Please Reply

    Thanks

  • @terroristofmeh You are correct. Leads (solos) are built from scales and modes. What a lot of people don't know is that chords are also derived from scales and modes, and, therefore, knowing them makes one a much better musician, while not knowing them is very limiting.

  • @terroristofmeh. Disagree, i didn't learn the guitar based off of scales and stuff at first. I learned how to play the trombone, trumpet, and various other brass instruments in that manner since I had to play those instruments in large symphonies and orchestras when I was younger, but to me the guitar is about individual expression. I mean come on, most people that play aren't gonna be in a band or go into virtuoso style music.. Just get the sounds out of your brain, just plug and play man.

  • @terroristofmeh... Also, Jimi Hendrix didn't read music and didn't always play perfectly in scale... And, I think he was decent right? Also, there what about stevie ray vaughan.. he just played by ear. I mean come man, The scales aren't the basis for the guitar... to me they are just patterns within the guitar, and in that sense saying someone needs to learn the scales to play guitar is equally bogus as saying you gotta learn the guitar to play scales..

  • people i learn it by my self its not hard as it seems tho?

  • let me see

  • practice how to teach men

  • learn to spell

  • BORING!!!!

  • Haters haters every where, sad but of idiots.

  • blenders are not permitted !!

  • hah nitwits . filthy animals

  • I dont have a guitar but I have a blender is that any use?

  • lol buy a guitar man

  • try sticking your fingers in and playing some notes on the blades. once you mastered that go advance hendrix style and play with your teeth.

  • Just for the record I do have a guitar....i have a few actually I just found that funny.

  • lol best comment ever.

  • @aenima187 yea you can totally play a blender but u may not be able to hit ALL the notes lol, unless you have a blender with lots of buttons,i tune my tattoo machine to F SHARP for lining and to D for shading lmao :)

  • @aenima187 only if it blends in the key of Gmaj

  • are y'all serious ? this guy is putting his time in helping ppl and all u can do is bitch about it. if u want a real teacher then pay money and take some guitar course. Dont take this stuff for granted, u nitwits.

  • This video was helpful to me because I've been having some trouble going through my guitar grimoire exercise book and now I see the point. thanks for the video.

  • DORK!

  • wow... tough crowd !

  • this is fucking meaningless.....a beginner 12th fret octave fact turned into 8ths and 10ths and relative majors and minors? this guy in useless. try something all of us can understand

  • Expert Village?! What's 'expert' about this guy? He sucks big style! His idea of 'soloing' sounds a bit like the kind of music you hear on piers at the seaside! Urgh awful! Easily the most pointless 2:12 of my life!

  • your not a very good teacher...

  • guy looks kinda sweaty lol =P

  • If you are playing in G, moving to the 12th position isn't making you play the relative minor. If the song is in G major you are playing in G major wherever you are. This is why newbs are confused about theory. These guys are dangerous.

  • youre totally right!

    this guy doesn`t understand himself

  • pretty pathetic lol.. john petrucci is a hero!

  • well what do you know? SO 12 fret is also E -sound? Wow! Man you should write your own book about that!

  • lawled.

  • dude, i took lessons and used other methods, but iv leanred more in 2 weeks by teaching myself and using youtube then going to lessons and buying shit for 4 months

  • evotattoo666, seepauliedie, jafubi

you guys are dumb for real this guy is showing scales this helps alot to start playing guitar by ear once you know them..and plus youtube is like the best way to learn how to play guitar for FREE instead of paying so much money for lessons!!

  • how come everyone thinks they are going to learn how to play guitar off of youtube. you need lessons! from a person not a computer screen. that is why u suck this videos are good you are just dumb.

  • there are some good guitar lessons on dvd but you are right about youtube. its all bunch of sh!t.

  • Actually i taught myself with the help of youtube and i now lots of advanced stuff, granted im not professional but you don't necessarily need lessons.

  • the guy is just showing the pentatonic up the fretboard everyone chill and listen

  • uh im trying to learn guitar and this didnt help me at all. wasted time, money effort.......

  • you pay money for youtube?

  • I like how it says major and minor but he only played a major pentatonic.

  • This is awful , I think I just got worse at guitar from just watching this video.

  • to change from one key to another you simply play the same pattern on the fret for the first note, also called a root. like to play in A minor you play pattern one on the fifth fret, assuming you are tuned to E. look up the five pentatonic patterns for minor. play them slow and perfect. use a metronome if you can tolerate it. no rush you have all the time left of your life. Jesus saves! ^_^

  • It says patterns, but i only saw 1.

  • U SUK!!!

  • i wish someone could explain how thise works i mean theres a lot of C major scales but i dont understand how you tage a c minor into a g minor. where can i go to just read and learn what this all means i know what scales are im just having a hard time understanding the solos and acending descending shit.

THE CAT SAT ON THE MAT

  • i don't get it he didn't explain why assending pentatonics go that way im confused funny that they get people to say things in the most difficult way

  • Expert Village has nothing but horrible videos with shit instructors who have no rhythm or ability to teach. Stop watching these videos (this will be my last out of around 20 or so that I've watched).

  • lol dude, if you think Expert Village sucks so bad why did you sit through 20 of there videos?

  • Lol.

    EPIC FAIL!!!

  • I hate people who don't know how to teach things but try to anyways.

  • i didn't understand any of tht.

  • get a book its alot easier. sound like shit anyway.

  • Ascending...Pentatonic...just what the hell is that?

Just because one moves horizontally on the neck doesn't make it ascending...

  • actually thats exactly what it means.

  • Lol, there are some clueless people on youtbe aren't there?

  • Then how the bloody hell would you play and ascending melodic scale since when it descends it does naturally? Without alterations that is.

  • your a dumb ass thehornypuppy

  • Dude you cant teach guitar for shite! You haven't explained the basics yet are jumping onto scales the average beginner has no understanding of.

  • foSHO

  • seriously....that was gay

  • sounds like fun

  • boring as fuck

  • geeze that was boring

  • this guy kinda sucks

  • He kinda does :-)

He looks like a dude who spend 3 years in musical shcool, cause of his parents, but didn't give a fuck about it. And now decided to get some kind of popularity out of it.:-)

But I bet his whole lessons are very ejucative.

  • Nice, thanks.

    God Bless..

  • Thanks For the help :)

Always wanted to learn how to do this, helps a lot with solos
