Cthulhu is a titanic bipedal being with long, sharp claws, dragon-like skin and wings, and the head of an octopus. Cthulhu comes from H.P. Lovecraft's "The Call of Cthulhu", which was written in the early 1900s. Back then cephalopods (octopi in particular) were thought of as disgusting, evil, creeping creatures and were frequently regarded with horror. But then Jaques Cousteau came along and now everything is beautiful. :D

I think cephalopods have the potential to evolve into more advanced forms if they didn't have such a short life span. Their nervous systems make ours look like a 1980s computer.

They still do. The life span doesn't have much to do with them evolving. Animals don't evolve in their lifetime. All it takes is one to be born with an anomaly and then pass on its genes. Thats how insects who only live for 24hrs are able to evolve.

Got bitten by a cuttle once after having it reeled in trying to remove the hook. I held it in my hand having its head free. It grabbed my hand with its tentacles, flipped/sled around and bit me :o

Nasty little bugger was tasty though :o
