  • chuck norris coulod play this with his eyes closed and without hands

    XDXDXDXD

  • seriously, he's a GOD. it makes me feel really insignificant in guitar playing. and i've played for 14 years :P

  • i can play this, easy..........

  • i like how he plays the harmonic to preserve the bass line in the beginning, he doesnt do it for the repeat of the theme on the dominant though....

  • Una precision Formidable!!!!!!!!

  • Through almost every piece of music he wrote, Bach "proves" again and again that he is the greatest composer who ever lived.

  • @jsnauwaert I hope you're kidding. Perhaps you might indulge us as to your particular definition of "greatest composer."

  • @dmeachy

Of course I am not kidding. I don't have a definition of "greatest composer" and I don't think this is important. Definitions are important in science, but this ain't exactly science, isn't it? I also think it can't be proven that Bach is the greatest composer ever, but that doesn't make the statement less true. Try to discover for yourself, gradually, you might succeed. That's much more important than potentially endless and sterile discussions.

  • Its amazing that he can play such a technically demanding piece without even moving his hands...

  • @InDarknessLight I LAUGHED FOR HALF AN HOUR BECAUSE OF YOUR COMENT!

  • @InDarknessLight LMAAAAOOOO I died at your comment XD

  • how difficult is it to learn the lute suites? i'm 13 and have been playing for a year; but i feel that im progressing fairly quick :D im really looking forward to learning them (whether next year or in 10 years) since bach is the reason i've picked up the guitar. my teacher hasnt suggested learning them yet, should i just wait until then? i also try to get in 2 hours a day, currently im playing stuff like bwv 999, prelude from cello suite 1, and many etudes by carcassi.

  • @yumeybaconcutout They are pretty difficult but essential for classical guitar imo. Bach is usually not easy but so great for technique.

  • @adrianjemond great, thanks. so do you think i should suggest them to my teacher? because im not sure if im ready, but i dont think he knows i have an interest in learning them. or should i learn them on my own

  • @yumeybaconcutout I would work on arpeggions and sight reading. then tackle the luite suite! haha

  • @yumeybaconcutout I tried to learn some things too quickly. I did make a lot of progress in some ways, but it was very hard to correct mistakes and bad habits, as pointed out by my teacher later on. Good luck!

  • @yumeybaconcutout play anything you want to play regardless of the difficulty. You will improve as you struggle through pieces that are beyond your ability. One day you will look back and wonder why the piece you have mastered was ever so challenging.

  • Brilliant! The majestic fugue is a bit fast though, feels rushed at times.

  • At 2:46 the prelude is over. Then it's the fugue

  • This is actually a very tough piece.

It's hard to make a clean sound while playing three voices.

  • the fugue is the 2nd half of the peice

  • yeah i figured that out, im actually learning it on guitar, so its not hard for me to hear the transfer now lol. thanks anyways

  • Probably my favorite of the Lute Suites... I honestly don't like John's approach to spanish guitar, but for Bach, I've never heard it played better. I've been learning this for 2 years and I still don't have it down. ><

  • When does it change to the next song? From Prelude to Fugue?

  • I'm learning this fugue at the moment and the version I have is a) almost as hard as this sounds, and b) actually in A minor (though it has a key change almost every bar). Weird.

  • One of my favourite calssical pieces. The whole 997 was unbelievably good! Prelude is a really hard piece to play.

  • im so sorry I not so optimistic, but in the last part of the preludio he didn´t make a cadeza, how is indicated by Bach and show his lack of knowledge of eraly music, this work is for lute, and probably was done in Sonata style (as the reference of His Son Carl Philliphe, of 997 he mentined was of his father and he Has "only" the lute score) probably was composed for other instruments, ... second Fuga is slowly... sorry !!

  • @LeaBruggen lol i agree the fugue seemed a little bit too fast. but it's not a problem, he could've made it slower if he wanted to. but could you please explain the cadenza that it's meant to sound to? im sorry im not much of an expert in this stuff.

  • @LeaBruggen I differ with you. I think that no one in the world knows this piece better than John. He's a living god to me.

  • @LeaBruggen I differ with you. I think that no one in the world knows this piece better than John. He's a living god to me. I've heard many many many renditions of this. This one is clearly the best. BWV 997 by John is the reason im now playing guitar for more than 15 years. Each time I hear it, it's like hearing god speaking by sounds.

  • Should I spend all my money on music lessons? I play electric guitar, but I always wanted to learn classical guitar and also violin. I'd have to buy a violin, guitar and take 3 lessons a week. >< I'm 20

  • @Biake22 yeah

  • @Biake22 Im finding it really difficult to find somewhere to get suitable lessons :O

  • Marvelous tempo and interpretations, I've seen some that are too slow until this one

  • thank you for posting these beautiful interpretations of these Bach pieces.

  • que genios!, la fuga 997 es a mi parecer la pieza mas hermosa nunca antes compuesta todo el mérito es de Bach, asi mismo nadie la interpreta como Williams.

  • The tempo is just right. At this speed, the voices are more distinct; too slow, and the thread is lost.

  • beautiful... from classical to k hiphop i completely share the same interests in music... i love the intricacies of baroque guitar~~i can listen to this forever. i'd love to know your favoriates.

  • I also like John WIlliam's interpretation of Scarlatti's Sonata in Dm K213. Recently I've started listening to Segovia and his style is magnificent. Bach's my favorite composer and I love his fugues. I really enjoyed Petri and Jarret's album which covered BWV 1030-1035 on recorder and harpsichord. Besides that I also like romantic spanish guitar and Chopin. What about you?

  • I glad you put this up. This is great. :D
