i'm trying to find a really popular song that most DJs were mixing with Cameo's "word up" during the summer of 1986. A female artist sung the hook I thought it was lisa lisa but I was wrong. it has a really hard electronic beat. I've been searching for this song

for years. I was at FT. Gordon Georgia (Agusta) that summer. People ran to the dance floor to Cabbage Patch and reebok to this song.

Nope, that's One Way. A year after they released Cutie Pie, they released this song very late summer of 1983, about September. It got very little airplay and I'll never know why. I only heard it once or twice during its initial release but I never forgot it. Very different from One Way's style and maybe that's why their fans didn't really care for this song.

Yeah! I am a gut bucket funkster! This is straight up Al Hudson and One Way, a.k.a, One Way. The name of the song is "Let's Get Together" of 1983. I was one of the few bumping this hard. If fact, I won more than a few pop-locking and breakdance contests in Georgia with this funked out song! After I danced to this, the clubs I danced at started playing the song!  Yes! All it take is one Funkster to lay down the law of hardcore funk!

Wow! Let's Get Together...summer of 1983. I only heard it once and always wanted to hear it. That was when One Way went in a slightly different direction. This was a time when only black-owned radio stations played this quality music. Now it's all crap. Better quality is produced when it's underground.

Yup...Rick was the man but there was SOOOO much more to old school than Rick. You can hear Mr. James anywhere but this hard to find stuff is great. Right at the 6:11 mark is a great jam from Klique "Dance Like Crazy" the other great song from this Klique album was "I Can't Shake This Feeling". I think they were part of the Leon Silvers III productions that produced early 80's groups such as Shalamar and Dynasty.
