I have one just like this. I only use it to vacuum leaves in the fall 'cause it has the huge trailer/vac combo. I hate mowing with it because of the hydro-drive control lever. You can't adjust the friction tight enough to keep it where you want it so you have to constantly push against that damn lever as you use the tractor. Combine that with the weight of the motor over the front tires and it's just a huge pita to use. For 200 bucks though -- you did fine! I mean, just the motor...

I am glad I watched your video. I just picked up a POS John Deere 425 that weighed 950 lbs. They wanted to charge me 2000 for a new motor. gtfo, I am a craftsman enthusiest. Nice tractor I did not know the ff20 was the biggest..

Hey, nice tractor, I'd have that beast fixed the day I got it. I took a 16 Horse Power V-Twin and put 35 inch Super Swamper Tires for the back tires and put a set of heavy duty 17 four wheeler tires on the front. Where did you get that? and how much are they?

i used a fram PH3614 oil filter in my 18 horse onan and it works fine, got it for about 4 bucks compared to those 15 dollar ones that are genuine onan parts

@JHx86 Same here, but I don't use frams anymore after all the comparisons I saw. I had one on my DLT2000, the one with the oil gauge. An interesting note on that is when it warmed up with the fram, the gauge dropped to 0. Now with the napa gold I put on there, it drops to between 5-10 psi once it warms up.

It's actually made by Roper, the company that supplied Sears with their tractors. When I first looked into getting one of these I actually found a forum dedicated to the Sears FF's.

I dont know if y saw- a bunch of crap came out from under the flywheel shroud at 4:25.

I finally got my 86 GTII 18HP going after who knows how long- ran great- next is my 90's GT6000 with the same 20HP onan as yours.

Whats the plan for it? The paint definitly needs to go.

I dunno if y ever worked on a biggie like that- lemme tell y- my 86 was a serious pain- had to pull the engine and dash off to change the starter.

I saw that, something made a nest in there. Should be easy to clean, none of the shrouds are bolted on, just shoved in there. I never worked on a horizontal this size, I will be when I start work on the SS16, that starter is shot, and the big roper GT has a bad starter (all on the bottom of the engine). The paint on this thing just plain sucks and is definitly going.

Mine was all bolted on and rusted to hell- i neverseized every bolt when it back together- had to drain the oil to pull the motor- they had the 'convienince' kit- where it elbowed and ran under a plate bolted to the chassis- not to mention the engine bolts were way under the motor....i suppose i shoulda welded the nuts or bolts to the chassis to make it easier to pull it next time- but my welder wasnt together yet..
