Be deaf is not a gift that God gives and if being deaf is a gift why in the bible Jesus or God make people blind see, make people deaf hear ??? The one of the God gift is giving the doctors and the scientists the ability to do incredible things like this. 8P I'm happy for this little one and the family. Sorry for my English.
Such a precious little one, my wife wears hearing aids and I tell her everyday it made her the strong woman she is today, valedictorian, 2 bachelor degrees, she tried cause everyone would tell her she couldn't! May God Bless!

@podum77 You use sign language? Why, don't you know that god made you deaf so you couldn't communicate with others? You use sign language which was developed by professionals wishing to help the deaf, just like the scientists who developed the CI.
This "God made you this way" is laughable. So prosthetic legs shouldn't be given to kids born without biological legs? Chemo should be out too because "God wanted you to have cancer"? Deaf people are by no means retarted, but your comment sure is.
@podum77 Cochlear implants aren't "bad and wrong" for everybody. If you don't agree with cochlear implantation that's fine, but don't try to make others not have this procedure done.
It's amazing how many deaf people are content with being deaf even though they know other options are available. That's fine for them, but they have no right to judge anyone who decides to get cochlear implants. Cochlear implants are miraculous, and everyone deserves a chance to hear.
@podum77 Parents choose CI because they feel it is the best for their child. A Parent chooses not to use a CI because they feel it is the best for their child. So no matter what, the decision is made for the benefit of their child. Cochlear Implants arent bad and wrong. Its another option available for people (children and adults) who are deaf. Either way it is the SUPPORT you receive that makes a person happy, just like you are :)

But I think if man can make these with science, then why not make the most of our lives? If god did create man, he created this implant indirectly, so it must be good and right, not "bad and wrong".
Congratulations! She is so cute. Do a lot of Speech therapy, is a long proccess but at the end it WORKS. Our son was the FIRST COCHLEAR recipient in Toronto, Canada. 1993. Now he' s20y and with the new Nucleus Freedom he enjoys it. To see my son's first hearing type on the Search: "Sankevso"
