I don't see this as a religious song at all. It's much more than that; its strictly true we gotta serve somebody, because we can't live outside of language and society. Neither can we overcome truly our own desires, flaws and mistakes. Nietzche's uberman doesn't exist and this song perfectly makes it clear.
Wether Dylan wrote the song thinking about Jesus or Jahveh, is irrelevant, because what came out was a powerful statement against the possibility of god-like self-autonomous man.
@stupidjunk978 Well as Forest Gup sez: Stupid is as stupid does.... Take your stupid junk elsewhere if all your are going to do is ridicule Christians without giving constructive feedback regarding the performance....Smart ass...
@TheEldoradoKid Hey, maybe this kid has had bad experiences with Christians before. I know it's hard not to be defensive, but you're probably not helping by insulting.
@SoBrian4 Well....he took a very short statement saying he was "dismissive and wrong" and really "went to town with it" in a response. I didn't mean to deeply insult in any way, and I don't think I did, He just went overboard, too bad! I think this is a great song and they do a great job on the Bob Dylan original. If people are offended by Dylans original message in the song, well then, they just need to work that out in an adult manner. Hope you liked it, I think its a cool song!
@Gracie: Paul Clark has been integrating his Bob Dylan impression in material for years...kind of an homage and crowd-pleaser all in one. He also does a pretty good Michael McDonald and a Sting - and his natural voice ain't too shabby either.
This is an OUTSTANDING example of the song, and it should be on a CD, and if they do it might be an idea to add a piano, and for Paul to personalise the song ie "You might call me RJ etc..." to suite him. GREAT WORK GUYS
BTW - The gentleman playing slide guitar is The Electric Rev,, Jimmie Bratcher, an awsome blues song writer, singer and guitar player in his own right
I should have studied more in English class...memorized adjectives for more than just passing the test...Only one that comes to mind for this video is 'Wow'..and I know there's gotta be a better one!
Amen on "Good To Be Home" !!!!!! I have so appreciated Paul Clark for how he taught from the Word in his songs. These two are some of the special musicians God has used in so many lives! Phil is a legend but Paul sort of disappeared but never forgotten in my life!
Fantastic! Phil on guitar (doing blues no less) along with Rev. Jimmie and Paul on vocals sounds about as much like Bobby himself as anyone could. Paul and Phil recorded some great stuff together back in the late 70s as Paul Clark and friends - just listen to "Good to be Home"
Nice to hear this would have like to have heard Aaronn Porr on this. gonna listen to this while i powerlift gonna be nice mix with my Tower of power stuff
When they played this song at the show I went to, I don;t think there was anybody sitting. It was a great way to end the night, and I left feeling greatly blessed, and amazed at God's mercy to me personally. Pray that God continues to bless these men with great joy in the Lord all their days, and remember to pray in the name of JESUS CHRIST the Son of God each morning you are blessed with from today forward.
Did he play that song about the cry from the cross at that show? It was a truly astounding song, but I haven't been able to figure out what it is called. It is really great to see men using their talents for the purpose God instructed us to, praising Him.
what an awesome combo...two of our contemporary founders...whom I had the pleasure of meeting and sharing with...phil I love you..paul thank you for your beautiul gift...I owe both of you for inspiting me to play chrisitan music..thank you so much...
Thank you soooooo much for posting this vid. I have been watching it for quite awhile now and it keeps getting better each time I watch it. Dylan was a large part of my of my salvation back in 1979. Phil is my all time favorite guitar man. Glass Harp is my all time favorite band. OK...thanks again ;-)

An outstanding performance of one of my favorite Dylan songs. Like all his (Dylan's) best songs it's full of spiritual truth.
