Whats with this bullshit about all their 80s material being to commercial i dont remember dancing to freewheel burning or on the run or you dont have be old to be wise at the dance hall commercial my ass this group smoked thru the 80s as well as the 70s and as well the painkiller album the greatest metal act of all time JUDAS PRIEST.
@GodzillaVsEveryone Rocka Rolla is still pretty good, considering the producer had all the control over the album's sound. If Priest had their say in it, it'd be heavy as hell, like Sad Wings. Still, Rocka Rolla (the song) has a pretty evil sounding riff.
@GodzillaVsEveryone Agreed, but Defenders was the only real highlight they had in the 80's. The rest of the stuff they did during that time was either too commercial or too inconsistent. Sad Wings, Sin After Sin, and Stained Class on their own beat the majority of their eighties material combined.
@thefateshavewarned Screaming for Vengeance was fantastic to be fair, radio-friendly or not. British Steel was very commercial however which diluted their reputation with non-music fans. Tunes like this destroy Grinder, Love Bites etc.
@LargsThistle1994 Screaming was okay. It had some really good metal songs (The Hellion/Electric Eye, Riding on the Wind), but it also had some pop/hard rock songs that I just can't stomach (Take These Chains, Pain and Pleasure, Devil's Child). It wasn't great, but it was a step in the right direction.
@TheLoke666 fuckin A dude. if priest only released 'rocka rolla' and sad wings of destiny' they would have been THE greatest band ever. two perfect albums. not a crap song on either one.
There's no such thing. "If you're a fan of a band, you gotta love all of their work" that's nonsense. If the band you love do something really really terrible, you can't love it. That's just being a maniac of the band, not looking from the musical side.
