hmm, the strings play the presto insanely fast...I wonder if the winds are really tonguing that fast...when they play by themselves they are much slower.

If you remember, when playing with just the strings, or just the woodwinds, he slowed down the tempo a bit on the presto, probably to hear their synchronizing.

Karajan is so much fun to watch. I would love to hear a Mahler rehearsal of his.
