  • This is what became the 2D sprites used in the Xtreme levels. Done similarly to Donkey Kong Country.

  • This creeps me out for some odd reason. Dont ask why, I dont know myself. :I But really, this looks EXACTLY as if it came from real life, thats how plastic and shiny this model looks.

  • ooooooo shiny

  • and SEGA said they could not put Classic Sonic in 3D during the making of Sonic Adventure, thats bullshit. This model for Sonic is Classic and in 3D, looks freakin awesome way better than any 3D Sonic nowadays.

  • @sonicsupergod

they're so all full of bullshit now aren't they? i mean look on how the sonic generations old sonic looks.. it has nothing to do with the classic one , the one on the cover looks so childish compared to their new one. if you look to the old sonic it looked normal , not childish or anything.. big disapointment.

  • It's an early 90's 3D Render, that's why it looks like plastic.

  • that model of sonic scare me a little bit,

  • Looks really high poly the way it's rendered

  • So shiny, that Sonic looks like plastic!

  • There were toys out that looked almost exactly like that...

  • wierd... His face is flat, and he looks like he's plastic!

  • gotto like that, im still trying to rebuild it.

  • shiney :)

  • why he doesn't relase this game??

  • @mspeter97 Many reasons. Chris Senn's health, Yuji Naka being against the project, a deadline that didn't leave the game to be decently and comfortably developed, among other reasons.

  • @JackBandicootsBunker

They could at least give this game another go. They don't have to use the same team, but they could probably re-attempt to develop the game from scratch, using the original concept designs as a guide. There's no reason why Sega hasn't re-attempted this project in recent years except for the fact that they simply abandoned it. This is a game that I've always wanted to play since I first heard about it a few years ago.

  • @Nintendogamr123 Because it wasn't SonicTeam who was developing this. It was a part of STi, the ones behind ComixZone and the SatAM/AoStH related Sonic games, hence why a part of SEGA was bashing the idea.

Right now, Chris Senn has a forum up and running, where fans submit their ideas done with varios game designing and texture mapping programs. There is an eventual idea of releasing Sonic Xtreme complete, but I wouldn't believe in such thing. The project is virtually dead, like SonicGL.

I'm well aware of the fact that the game was in development by STi (Sega Technical Institute). They could at least add some of the zones of Sonic Xtreme to Sonic Generations, because Sonic Xtreme is still a piece of Sonic history, and shall not be forgotten, especially by the fans who anticipated Sonic Xtreme's release when it was first announced.

  • @Nintendogamr123 I do agree with that idea, Sonic Xtreme was one of the most relevant bits of Sonic's history, and perhaps that game would've avoided or at least slowed down the process SonicTeam is doing with the franchise, which is destroying it. What I don't know is if SEGA can use the fish-eye lens engine. Nintendo ripped the concept off for Mario Galaxy, and I'm sure they must've patented it or something.

Sonic has done pretty well in 2010. The only Sonic game that sucked that year was Sonic Free Riders. Sonic 4 was awesome, and Sonic Colors was amazing. I have confidence that Sega has the hang of it now. Sonic Generations looks promising on all the consoles it is on. It's a shame that Sonic Generations was the only Sonic game to be announced this year.

  • @Nintendogamr123 I didn't quite like Sonic Colours. The Wii version was alright, but the DS port, for example, was too easy and not so polished, in fact, for me it was inferior when compared to the Rush games. I agree Free Riders was bollocks, as the Kinect is too. Sonic 4 was for me just a tribute, and there are fan games out there that are better.

  • @JackBandicootsBunker I do believe it's fine that there's only one announcement related to Sonic this year. Makes me think the devs are really working seriously to get that game done well, and not a rushed project like, say, Next-Gen.
