Great Video, but whoever did the lyrics made blatant mistakes. People who do not know the lyrics to a song have no business posting them online. It's misleading to people who are trying to find the lyrics.

It seems it's about a couple agreeing to "see other people". Judging from the singer's point of view, he seems to not be into it but the girl is and warning her not to get taken advantage of by "gigolos chasing the rich girls".

Basically, it's about how dating other people doesn't really work out.

my girlfriend at the time and I went to Toronto to go see B&S. I wasnt really into their music but it turned out to be one of the best shows I had ever seen.

I still cant relate to half of their songs but I love their sound. Their pictures of peoples lives makes me appreciate people more.

The Cello on the outro of this song still gives me chills. I love 90% of what Belle & Sebastian does, but this is probably my favorite B&S song from my favorite album by the band.......not that they will ever make it to Kansas City or the surrounding area (hint, hint). Seeing them in concert would be a true pleasure.
