It would be best if we will exert our effort on promoting so that Philippine tourism would be promoted. Just imagine if you will see thousands of foreigners visiting places in the Philippines to experience these events.

Sinulog is the original. Don't you remember where did magellan brought the miraculous Sr.Sto.Niño. It is in Cebu okay? So how come you make Dinagyang Festival as a copy from Sinulog when you know that based in History Cebu is first.

Sinulog is just an offshoot of Dinagyang. Cebu learned from Iloilo how a festival could be done. Iloilo started developing Dinagyarng since 1968 and when they (Cebuano) saw the potential of a festival in promoting their city and province they are having it now, started with lullabye folkdancing on the street but it was boring. Now they have also ati-atihan tribes. The original Ati-Atihan was of Kalibo's but Dinagyang developed into a world class colorful festival through the years.

Spot the difference between how the Sinulog dancers executed well the steps and that so called "best in formation" compared to that "over-executed" style of the dinagyang.
It only shows how organized Sinulog steps are than those of those who claimed to be the best dinagyang.
You are always talking about details -- steps formations etc etc. Dinagyang have choreographers so with Sinulog. You want Dinagyang to imitate and/or copy your Sinulog??? Dinagyang is original copied by Sinulog not the other way around.

I am so happy that a Cebuano delegation made it to the top the third time in a row! Thats quite something far beyond just mere luck! Cebu has indeed become a world-class haven in all its aspects! I am also equally happy for all other festivals to have shown a part of their own cultures by being part of Aliwan. Truly, uniting the entire country like this kind of event makes us truly proud to be a Filipino!

Buyogan's performance in the Aliwan is patterned after Sinulog...The musicality, the concept, the style and every bit of it is Sinuloglike.
Even though Buyogan did not represent Cebu..We can still hold our heads up high because Buyogan's choreographer is a pure blooded Cebuano named Victor Cuenco who happens to be the choreographer also of Siloy sa Alcoy festival.
Now it can be told that Sinulog is the barometer of the Aliwan.Whoever won in the Sinulog wins in the Aliwan..

thats true po i agree with u. sa ibang province mas priniorittize nila ang festivals kaysa livellihood education etc.... but not true for CEBU we may excel in festivals pero hindi lang diyan kami magaling infact we r the richest province in the country so its ok and we are bvery progressive in here. The tourism officer of Iloilo City, Ben Jimena, allocated 6.2 million to send off the three contingents of Iloilo to the Aliwan 2009.
A lot of funds and effort have been exerted because he really wanted Iloilo to be the festival capital of the Philippines.
Ben Jimena is the main reason why Dinagyang was voted out as the Best Tourism Event. He is also the reason why Dinagyang was chosen as the best bet in the Aliwan.

OMG! and the debate who is the best between sinulog and dinagyang still continues.
Spot the difference between how the Sinulog dancers executed well the steps and that so called "best in formation" compared to that "over-executed" style of the dinagyang.
It only shows how organized Sinulog steps are than those of those who claimed to be the best dinagyang.

Di po ang Iloilo ang nag uunang mag hanap ng kagulohan dito.... kundi ang mga cebuano simula ng nanalo sila first time sa aliwan noong 2006 don nang asar na at paningin nila sa mga festival na natolo nila ehhhh basura na kasi sila daw ang nag champion.... I am so happy that a Cebuano delegation made it to the top the third time in a row! Thats quite something far beyond just mere luck! Cebu has indeed become a world-class haven in all its aspects! I am also equally happy for all other festivals to have shown a part of their own cultures by being part of Aliwan. Truly, uniting the entire country like this kind of event makes us truly proud to be a Filipino!

Buyogan's performance in the Aliwan is patterned after Sinulog...The musicality, the concept, the style and every bit of it is Sinuloglike.
Even though Buyogan did not represent Cebu..We can still hold our heads up high because Buyogan's choreographer is a pure blooded Cebuano named Victor Cuenco who happens to be the choreographer also of Siloy sa Alcoy festival.
Now it can be told that Sinulog is the barometer of the Aliwan.Whoever won in the Sinulog wins in the Aliwan..

Npka-BABAW ng mga ganitong aktibidades...PERO kung titingnan mo naman ang LITRATO ng probinsya nito...puros barong-barong, mga squatters, walang disenteng dumihan, walang mga mauunlad na INDUSTRIYA,HINDI progressibo at very BACKWARDS..at ang mga liders,mga MAGNANAKAW....kawawa naman kayo,,,puros ganyan lang ba ang KAYA ng mga UTAK nyo--pasayaw-sayaw at PARADANG mga pgka-PRIMITIBO???

thats true po i agree with u. sa ibang province mas priniorittize nila ang festivals kaysa livellihood education etc.... but not true for CEBU we may excel in festivals pero hindi lang diyan kami magaling infact we r the richest province in the country so its ok and we are bvery progressive in here. Im not underestimating other provinces pero nasasayangan ako sa funds nila magagamit pa sana iyon sa ibang projects.

The tourism officer of Iloilo City, Ben Jimena, allocated 6.2 million to send off the three contingents of Iloilo to the Aliwan 2009.
A lot of funds and effort have been exerted because he really wanted Iloilo to be the festival capital of the Philippines.
Ben Jimena is the main reason why Dinagyang was voted out as the Best Tourism Event. He is also the reason why Dinagyang was chosen as the best bet in the Aliwan.
