I own one of these, given to me by my father. Best .22 i've ever shot. All my buddies have these semi automatics with scopes on them, while i can nail a soup can at over 40 yards with the irons. When they all rag on my single shot, I say "I only need one bullet to get the job done"
I about bought one of these at a recent gun show. The stock was gnarly , bluing about gone and a metal buttplate that dug into my shoulder. They wanted $95 dollars. I passed on it. Yours looks to be alot better. Did I make a good choice? I am a beginning collector of .22s.
i have this exact gun it was my gpas and he gave it to me when i was 5 ithink. this gun is the most accurate gun i own and will shoot any ammo through the bullseye at 50 yards
I'm pretty sure that I got the same rifle when I was 10 years old (now about 47 years ago). It was a very nice gun, and well worth what my father paid for it.
One question: Is the breach end of the bolt surrounded by a nylon/plastic sleeve that serves as a sort of "feeder" for the round going into the chamber? It was a non-metal part, and I always wondered how it would hold up over time/
hey guys i have this old jc higgens model 30 and i can;t find how much it is worth or anything online so does anybody know how much it is worth...it is kinda rusty but stiil shoots fine and do you guys know how old it is? thanks
J.C. Higgins was a Sears brand. The guns were made by the major firearms manufacturers branded for Sears, That rifle has Marlin written all over it. Many of those J.C. Higgins guns were quite good quality, better than a lot of the stuff you get today.

I grew up hunting with a tube fed J.C. Excellent rifle. Yours looks to be in good shape. Keep it.

@woodlandcammo27 Sounds like it should have been priced 65-75 dollars in that condition. You were right to pass on it.

@lixian pull the bolt back then pull the trigger. Keep the trigger pulled and the bolt will slide off.
