1. The golden lumber is viewed as a sign of wealth. Therefore, displaying it in the little villiage is kind of like saying "Hey, look at me, I got a lot of money and you don't! Ha ha!" Therefore, everyone else takes it as an insult that you're displaying it so obviously.
