@Ottawarocket This is so very beautiful sweetheart!! Loving, passionate &inspirational ... just as you always are with me!! I Love this , baby!! 333 xox ♥♥♥
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss are a classic combo that should've happened long ago because I sure would've listened to it as much then as I do now. Love this album. Love Plant and Krauss!! I hope they make many more albums in the future!
Love this song and the album, which I was lucky enough to have been on to early. As to the either or comparisons to Led Zeppelin, I wonder why people can't dig different genres on there own merits, rather than make absurd comparisons. I listen to everything from Bach to samba to New Orleans R&B to techno and on and on. Compare each within each not to each.
@gsjbaldwin agreed! and I would go further...let's quit trying to pigeonhole everyone into a neat little genre. To me that is strictly a marketing tool anyway. Really good music, like this example, usually shows influences from different "genres".
i dont see why everyone is surprised.. zeppelin was always a band with heavvvvvyyy celtic/folk roots. bluegrass is a form a folk music too, and gets some of its noise from that same european influence we all know and love that can be heard so clearly in the battle of evermore
i think it's just different, i must admit, a couple of songs are hard to get into, but i think we all forget sometimes that robert writes and records music for himself these days, if the fans like it, great, if not, well thats up to us, i mean, he doesn't have much to prove does he? just the way i see it folks.
What is wrong with you people to have to be so damn negative?! Tell me Leth what have you done in your life that is soooo amazing? They are both very talented artists and deserved to win those grammys. Its people like you who make this world the way it is. Why talk shit? Dont you have anything better to do?
I'm a musician myself, and as a vocalist I'll admit that I am heavily influenced by Robert Plant. I don't deny that he's talented. I'm just saying that covering a bunch of songs then putting them on an album can hardly be considered breaking new ground.
As for your other questions; I'm currently recovering from Guillain-Barre Syndrome. I'm house-bound, as I'm unable to walk (Or play sing and play guitar; my hands and lungs are too weak), so I have little to do other than surf youtube. Sorry.
I've loved Plant's work with Zeppelin, and some of his solo albums, and even his return to basics with priory of Brion, not so keen on Strange Sensation, but this Bluegrass link stuff, no thanks Plant . . . I'm not going there. Too far from my taste in music. I'm a little peeved with Plant as recently he's made some off the cuff remarks about a genre I'm very keen on, namely modern jazz and jazz rock. I always felt that Plant was a little bit 'country' even on some of the Zep stuff.

This album was such a joke...The entire album was comprised of covers that neither Plant nor Krauss even arranged. In fact, only one song on the entire album credits any writing to either of them.
If that's the standard for winning a Grammy, maybe somebody should just find a karaoke version of this album and sing over it to win next year's "Best Album" or whatever the hell it is.

Exactly: The entire thing was artificial and pre-made, like saccharin.
I'm just saying that I find it hard to appreciate or find an album to be genius if it's just a compilation of covers. I'm fine with someone releasing an album of covers, but they have to be the ones who actually arranged the covers (Neither of them did; T-Bone Burnett is credited with actually arranging the songs, they only sang) and even then the best you should really credit it with is "A collection of excellent covers".
Such an unlikely pairing but they make it work. It's hard to be a "screamin meemeee" when you're in your 60's, so kudos to Robert Plant for his re-invention. He still might have something left for his rock fans a little later.
you nailed it...what an odd couple, but what a great result! The only memory of Alison I had was that lullaby called "Baby Of Mine" that I sang to my kid...
I like this song. The vocals are much better then the musicians. I still like it. That is my opinion, just noting that before someone calls me a Moron.
An committed and serious musician's lifelong goal is to continually grow as a musician; genre is not in question. If Plant thinks that he is stretching himself and growing with this project then good for us but even more, better for him.
I guess the rock n roll god has earned the right to do what the hell he likes. Once you paid your dues its time for a little self enjoyment and he seems to really enjoy this low energy work. Not my taste but he is still a god.

No Robert no!!!!!!!!!! What the hell happened , I know Zep is over but what about the solo stuff? Fate of nations was a hell of a lot better than this donny and marie shite
I know what you mean and normally I would feel the same way as you. (I'll have to mention Chris Cornell fooling around with Timbaland - it gives me nightmares!) This may not be the best song on the record but in some way I like it (the record). Partially thanks to T. Bone Burnett who is a master of creating cool sounds and stuff. But I also like most of the songs. There's some rock 'n' roll in there as well. Still, I hope he'll make a solo record again.
I'm sorry. but let the led Zep thing go... That was Over 30 years ago. Robert isn't a kid anymore. You dont see any 60 year olds playing in the NFL... Get Real/ This is good stuff!
Led Zeppelin isn't "kiddy" if that's what you're implying and I don't see any of Zeppelin's works being the result of Robert Plant's childhood anxiety so I don't see why you'd even say something like that ;/ Zeppelin was better. I think people are just disappointed because this stuff isn't as good and they were really expecting something insane.
I would like to see someone travel back in time and unplug the speakers at a Zeppelin concert and play this Cream of Wheat instead and say, no, it's really good, it won Album of the Year.

alright i have to admit when i heard robert plant was doing this thing with alison krauss was hessitant. personally i thought it was going to suck. but this is really good, i'm literally about to go and buy the album. but still i think plants best years where with zeppelin.
This is a poor version of a great Everly Brothers track - the B-side of their No.1 smash 'Temptation'. It is an almost exact copy of the original arrangement and just sounds like two local singers at an 'open mic' session in the pub! Why did they bother. Don and Phil know how to sing this, not these jokers!
joker?? rober plant the king of hard rock is a joker !!!! if many rock bands are born today is thank to him and the LED ZEPPELIN !!! but why do the people talk without knowing the story of the music??
How could you not love Zep....?...Rain Song...Since I've Been Loving You...All My Love...Misty Mt. Hop...Stairway to Heaven...Maybe it's time to revisit those songs especially.
Going platinum today is meaningless compared to going platinum, say in the 1960s, when there were countless music powerhouses at the top of their game. Pop music has been lousy since approximately the early 1980s. Compare the top 40 from say 1964-1974 compared to the top 40 of the past 25 years. Great music in the 60's and 70's and lousy since then. Want empirical evidence? Look at which musical acts can fill a large arena with a concert tours. Mainly the old farts from 30-40 years ago.
no me gusta este tipo de musica por lo general, pero me voy a guardar mis opiniones hasta que escuche un poco mas de raising sand. Ademas, no creo que nada que haga Plant pueda ser malo, asi que le voy a dar una oportunidad.
Nicefrog45 - Correction to a message I placed earlier this evening. I shouldn't have listed a track called 'Visions' by Alison & Robert as that was an error on my part. I was referring to the song 'Killing The Blues' which I also listed. With apologies!
I have always been a fan of Alison Krauss as she has such a beautiful voice ideal for bluegrass music and she is also an excellent fiddle player too.I have all her albums both solo and with Union Station. This album is a nice alternative to them and her and Robert seem made to duet together. I especially like the slower, more reflective tracks such as vision, through the morning, killing the blues and stick with me baby. They seemed to both enjoy the experience of doing this duet album.
I have just bought this album - it is for me one of the very rare ones about which I can say that I love all the songs - I listed to it all the way through and it gives a calm and happy feeling. What wonderful musicians these two are!

Oh? I guess that's why it has gone platinum...everyone thinks it is just so boring.
Kids these days, no appreciation for real music..

Not my cup of tea. Obviously a lots of people like it, symptomatic - a lots of people are boring. Nice sleeping pill though... ;)

What great music!!! Alison Krauss and Robert Plant...Incredible musicians!!!! Bring together classic, in the moment... two,
different generations, bridged that gap...they show it can be done...and I am so
in awe and so thankful, I can live long enough
to hear and to be here, to appreciate this Union....Wish more Musicians would do this...
It would be a new era!!!!
It's about time!!!!
