@120pichu There are two times you can use a killphrase in the game. You learn Gunther Hermann's killphrase, "Laputan machine", if you have Jaime Reyes spy on UNATCO and then meet him at the cafe in Paris. Anna Navarre has a killphrase as well. It's "Flatlander woman". You can get this after you escape the MJ12 facility if you didn't manage to kill her when you're running from UNATCO in Hell's Kitchen: one half of the phrase is in her computer, the other half is in Manderley's.

When you get to the point of the game when you get captured by MJ12 and reach UNATCO level you talk to Jaime Reyes and tell him to stay with UNATCO as a spy. You met him later in Paris and then he will tell you Gunther's killphrase. Happy ? OK now get a lemon-lime.

Also, "Flatlander Woman" (killphrase of Anna Navarre) derives from, I think, "Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions" (e.g. see section 4 ; concerning the women) by Edwin Abbott, which is a satire as well.

This game is IMO the greatest game ever created with so many things linking to the reality...

Gunther is a semi-tragic case; on the one hand, he's a brutal killing machine, but on the other hand he's a big softy when it comes to Anna Navarre. There's a journal from one of the MJ12 troops in the cathedral that says Gunther stays in this room all day, waiting, and sometimes *crying*. Presumably, waiting for you, so he can avenge Navarre's death, and evidently crying over her demise. Who would have thought Gunther to be the crying type, right?

He's a murderous bastard that has killed thousands and enjoyed every single one of them; I actually think he was crying because he knows full well that he won't be able to beat you, as he is outclassed in every way by the new nano-augmentations, but as a soldier he will accept his orders until death.

Much cooler thing than knowing Gunther's killphrase would be stealing his 'SkullGun'. He orders this upgrade in one of his emails. I think that makers should do things like this:

If you order Jaimie to 'join resistance' you will get Gunther's 'SkullGun' INSTEAD of aug-upgrade. But mod is made specially for Gunther and it needs new 'tuning' for JC. Tracer Tong would reconfigure this augmentation and in cathedral JC would say something like this: "I've got your SkullGun - what a shame" :D

i played DX a long time ago but as far as i can remember, before leaving the UNATCO HQ you should tell the doctor [whose name just escaped my mind] to stay there, be a spy and give you information. and then when you got to Paris, the doctor will be there in a cafe. he sends you a msg that he wanna meet you. when you find him, he gives you an implant and tells you Gunther Hermann's killswitch. :D

@Coolkillerbear If you have Aggressive Defense System it will protect you against flame throwers (also works against plasma guns and darts). Not sure whether this is a bug or an intended feature, but anything with a flight time is destroyed by that augmentation (pretty much everything except bullets, electrical discharges, and melee weapons).

Anna's - crack her and Manderley's PCs when you're breaking from MJ12 prison.

Gunther's - when leaving UNATCO for the last time visit that doctor and tell him not to go with you but stay in there. Later when you're in Paris Tong will inform you the doctor is waiting for you at a cafe. Then in a conversation he'll tell the Gunther's killphrase.
