It is terrible that Bolet's Schubert-Liszt CD contains only 16 songs. His interpretations are simply impossible to be surpased, at least as far as I am concerned. One could really appreciate the genius of both Schubert and Liszt while listening. Wonderful restraint, total lack of show-off nonsense, yet passion and drama as none else could extract from these pieces. Thanks a lot for sharing!
Very nice interpretation. This is only the second recording I've heard of this piece...I've been listening to Murray Perahia's recording of this on his album "Songs Without Words."
großartig gespielt - eine der ganz wenigen Interpretationen, die es schaffen, in diesem Stück einen weiten Spannungsbogen vom Anfang bis zum Ende aufzubauen und zu halten.
He was such a wonderful pianist, much missed. There was no-one better at transfiguring what borders on the sentimental into true nobility of utterance.
I loved Jorge Bolet and think that certain factors prevented him from being recognised as being on a par with the greats such as Horowitz ; he played similar repertoire but not with quite the same flair and was very reserved as a man. A real pity as his technique and beauty of tone were breathtaking.
